Hi Mark That would be cool! thanks Mark, of course I'd be happy to leave a deposit - I could be heading your way soon-ish... Last part of my dash? - not got a sunroof have you? LOL!
-
Any condision really, just needed to sit my car on whilst I get my wheels refurb'd Would even be happy to return them after, if you wanted them back.

VR6 grill badge in Red by any chance?
-
Yep... muppetry at the highest order... I watched Ed China remove the trim with a good clout, so I thought a reasonable clout would fit it up again... nope the trim is pants beyond the realm of pants and instead of a snugg 'click' back into place it rogered itself through the lifters... so now I have an absolute nightmare of a job... repair the 2 owner from new fully funtioning prior to me getting my hands on it sunroof... or buy an unknown quantity or Passat item :(
-
Cheers Cressa, don't suppose you have the chrome lifters left over from you sunroof adventure do you? :D
-
After atempting to refit the trim on my sunroof I managed to make a perfectly functional sunroof into a non-working item. Not sure if anyone can help, I just need a pair of the chrome trim lifters as pictured.

Hmmmm The cloud.tapatalk.com page isn’t working is the message that appears :(
-
Yeah I used to get this when I lived in Aylesbury, hence my decision to move back to a village, when it happened to me I used to call a mate with a land rover, one day we were just hitching the chains up to drag it down the road and they came out very apologetic, same as your idiots, oh we didnt know... yes they did, they just didnt give a sh1t!
-
The fella on ebay has said he will post.... what sort of job is it to replace the chrome trim lifters? am I risking a nervous breakdown? LOL :)
-
Dam, that would be ideal... Absolute shag of a journey :'(
-
Am I better going a full Passat glass item?
-
I'm gutted delfinis.... I was trying to get the trim back in... the roof was all in and setup... the trim just wouldnt go back in place, it slid back and jammed it everytime. It came out with a good tug backwards so I gave it a knock forward, then both the chrome lifters snapped off. What are my options? What fits? - I wanted to keep it OE so dont really want Passat items... would be handy if I could get one with the trim in it, I dont want to go through that again, it almost ended up with a gallon of petrol over it!

WANTED! New sunroof Future advice... leave sunroof alone... enjoy till it inevitably breaks... fit new one...
-
Hmmm I'm struggling to get the sunroof trim back in place and subsiquently its stopping the sun roof opening.... any pointers? I can see no way of this going back on..... two thin metal tags have both broken off on both sides.... getting the feeling I should of left this alone....

Cheers fellas, I'll get the screws soaked up at lunchtime ;) Pretty quiet weekend on the VR, I got the sunroof removed and gave it a service, cleaned and re-lubed everything that moved, seems to slide nicely now, not holding my breath on it lasting thou. I imagine it will just snap at some point. The mould and damp had made it to the inside of the sunroof, so as well as a good grease I gave the inside a coat of polish and some sound deadening matts which made a huge difference... it went from a clang to thud - I did the matts the way we used to do them in the body shop... not sure why people seem to coat the whole floor and doors with this stuff.. it was always just used for pannel druming, anyway I can recomend a couple in the sunroof ;) thats all back and fitted, just needs adjusting to close flush again. I got the Mop and the 3M Fast cut out too... paint on the sunroof now looks like the whole car will soon! :D

Hi Mark, yeah my radiator support has been completely reclaimed by mother earth unfortunately, I've got a second hand one coming from G60knight hopefully soon ;) - plan is to get that powdercoated or even hot dipped galvanised. Thanks Tom - hopefully the new rad will be here this week, the awkward headlight screww.. is it just an access issue or do I need to bathe it in WD40 for a week prior? - any pointers on the crack pipe?
-
Ordered.. new Hella rad will be here Monday... any gotchas on thermostats ?
-
wowser... big price difference... £116 + VAT
-
;) Out of interest has anyone bought a radiator from Euro car parts? - they're a lot cheaper than most places, but I don't want to buy a rubbish one of course...

Cheers Jim - sorry for the slow reply, might of had one too many celebration beers last night, which I'm now trying to fend of with alkaseltsa :( Wont you need these for you next Corrado project? :D and she is running smoothly now.
