Right no air lock as i thought! When i filled the coolant i filled from the top hose then once there was some in the coolant reservoir i filled from there! Top hose gets warm first then after bwt 10-15mins the bottom hose starts to warm up! So to me its either 1. the fuses for the fan 2. the thermoswitch I used the same sensors when i changed the thermo housing as they where in good condition would this make any difference with them being the old ones and not new ones?? Think im going to ring a garage near to me on monday as i really cant be arsed checking this stuff myself electrics is something i know fook all about! Should i just ask them to check them two items above ??? And after last weeks pain in the arse changing the housing etc i think this time i need to pass the buck onto someone else!

if i have to replace the thermo switch on the radiator do i get a VW one (part number if anyone has one) or do i get a neuspeed one from awesome like this one! http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/store/product.php?xProd=5587&xSec=86

Cheers for the advice guys will have a look tomorrow bloody cars who'd have em lol! If its the fuses where can i get new ones??

is my themostat alright then with the top and bottom rad hoses being hot ?? Also how would an airlock stop the fans coming on??

1. The top and bottom hoses are hot 2. Must be the last fan speed stage 3 works 3. The fan came on at 110 when i tested it last friday and no flashing coolant light then 4. Car heating works on 1-4 hot and cold! Just seems to keep going hotter then once the light started flashing i switched off! The thermostat is a brand new low temp one from awesome! Why when you fix one problem (the coolant leak i had) does something else come along!! :(

Right as you may or may not know i changed my thermo housing and crack pipe last week all worked fine fans came on just below 110 Oc which i hear is normal! today im coming back from work only 5 miles ish and just happened to glance at the water temp and it was really high considering id only been in the car about 5 mins it was at 100 Oc so got home left it running and where the fans used to kick in at 110 ish they now dont it gets up to 120 ish and then fans kick in which i would imagine is stage 3 fan and the coolant warning light flashes can someone please explain whats going on am i missing something??? Id be up for one but id suggest making a few first and then selling them andy then theres no back log!! Also as said above share your knowledge and allow us to make our own up!

VW was alright with me next day the parts were in! Good luck getting it sorted my arms are killing me after my problems!

I used these part numbers off page 5 If replacing everything you should have new: 021 121 117A - Main housing, 021 121 133D - front housing elbow, 021 121 121A - thermostat elbow,*** You already have this part!*** b 075 121 113D - thermostat & seal (should come together from VW), ***You already have this part!*** b 025 906 041A - Blue b701 919 369D - Yellow and b357 919 369F - Black sensors, 3 x N903 168 02 - small O-rings that go with the sensors, 2 x N101 392 01 - slightly larger O-rings to go on the crack (drainage) pipe and the front housing elbow, 1 x 021 121 119A - odd shaped seal (kind of rectangle) that is for between the main housing and the block. So you just need the other parts above they are the VW part numbers and thats if you replace everything! I reused the the black blue and yellow sensors as they were fine and reused the allen bolts aswell!

Cheers fella think ive done all the hard stuff now i think i hope! Do i need to use any kind of sealant on the crackpipe where it joins at the left hand side and the right hand side ???

Went into the garage just now and looked at the crackpipe i thought to myself your coming off right now so grabbed hold of it and pulled it towards me extreme style and low and behold off it came buzzin now wooo! Just gotta put everything back on tomorrow now and shes back up and running for a friday night drive!

how the hell did everyone remove their crackpipe to replace with a gruvenparts one have got everything else off ready but the crackpipe fook me its on tight and you cant grip it have wd40ed it and leaving till tomorrow if its still the same im gonna leave the old one anyone got any tips etc Cheers

lol at ^^^ ! It could have been the isv mine got cleaned up when chains got done so good place to start there!

Mine made some kind of noise like you described couldnt tell you what it was though cos had the chains done and the head rebuilt and no noise now!

im not going to rush it but will aim for 3 hrs and see how good i am at removing everything!

Why have i got 2 of them funny shaped gaskets that goes in between the housing and the head???

Mines clean luckily already taken apart when they did the head recon so all shiney and new thanks for the tip tho fella mine should look like your when finished as ive happened to come accross a gruvenparts crackpipe and it was the first one over to the uk and is the one in all the pics ITS FAMOUS!lol

Just ordered my bits for this at VW collect 2morrow and my thermostat 70 degree should be coming tomorrow too! And may have got a gruvenparts crack pipe aswell woo! looks like will start it thursday!
