Why didn’t I know about this, I’ve been polishing my stainless bike exhaust inch by inch for weeks with solvol. Harpic on the shopping list for the weekend! Thanks
-
Thanks for the replies, it does look like the Ibiza/Focus master cylinder might be the fix although a reservoir that is upright rather than angled forwards would be simpler. It'll be a job for the winter whatever, I promised my assistant (wife) that we wouldn't be bleeding brakes again this year so will have to save this until everything's been away to Bigg Red planned for later in the year!

Seen plenty of service folders for sale on eBay before but it's the first one I remember with the Diavia A/C booklet for anyone that simply must have it! Click Not mine by the way
-
No problem Chris, I’ve had the hole for the rear wiper welded up so it’s not going back on my car! Glad to fix a problem even if it’s a minor one.
-
I might take a look at the Ibiza reservoir, thanks for the pointer, which model in particular? I’d looked at the rubber inlet too but they seem to be about fifty quid on eBay so I’d rather know it’s going to work before I spend the money. My Schrick went years ago so I can’t try that for size I’m afraid!

Has anybody else done OBD2 and Teves 20 upgrades that left them with the brake reservoir rubbing on the inlet hose, and if so, is there a solution? The biggest part of the problem seems to be that the Golf reservoir is angled forwards slightly but I don't know if the OBD2 inlet contributes too as I don't remember how it was before. I'm concerned that eventually one will rub through the other with the obvious consequences!

I purposely didn’t bring your name into it......but now you mention it!

Does it need moderator(s) to control it? I seem to remember a time when you posted a new thread in the classifieds but it wasn’t listed until a mod had approved it. Of course that then opens to accusation of the mods bagging all the best deals before they’re posted, can’t win can you!
-
I think it’s worth opening the classifieds up to non subscribers. If an old member turns up some parts in the shed or loft you’d expect they’d be likely to look here first for a marketplace, we’ve had a lot of members through these doors over the years!

Thanks for that mate, ordered!

Showed total disregard for my finger ends and managed to lift the lip spoiler enough to get the grill out from under it. Cost me three knuckles and a couple of light scratches on the bumper but it came out! Bent a hook from a wire coat hanger which I then hooked around the drivers side latch and pulled it with mole grips and it released.o The thread on the bolt in the passenger side trumpet was gone letting it slip half inch or so, a new M3 bolt and its fixed.....I daren’t drop the bonnet yet though, save that for another day!
-
After the wife had got bored with it yesterday I cut a piece of wood to wedge in behind it!
-
Thanks for the offer mate. I think the passenger side trumpet's OK, I put a new socket head screw in it the other day because the thread was a bit tired and it wasn't tightening so well, it always seem to take a while settling in again when the front been off the car. First things first, I've got to get into it, I can't even get the grill to come out with the lip spoiler fitted so it'll be mole grips on the cable in the car to try pull it a bit more and release the driver's side. I'll have a go at it when I knock off tonight!

Got the bonnet stuck! Unusually it’s released on the passenger side but sticking on the driver’s, every time I’ve known it in the past it’s been the other way round. Pulling the release handle it feels like there’s not enough resistance so I’m guessing the end cone’s slipped. Shut the garage door in disgust!

Those power steering unions are the worst, feel for you!

I’ve been looking forward to seeing those wheels on, very good, look like they belong 👍

That's probably a good call, I've had a couple of relay plates in it and a complete set of relays but they weren't new, next time I run it up I'll try the ECU relay, the FPR was new a few hundred miles ago so I doubt it's going to be that. It's not a major issue and it's never actually failed to start but it doesn't inspire confidence and puts my wife off relying on it. I suggested that after lockdown we leave her TT on SORN until the end of the summer, I generally use the BMW (bike) so she can have my Land Rover unless I'm on site so I suggested she use the Corrado whenever I'm away, she wasn't overly convinced!
-
They would definitely have been genuine, I was trying to figure out when I'd done it because I had to change the type of one from two pin to four pin when I changed some wiring either for Climatronic or OBD2. I'll have to dig out all the drawings and figure out which one I would need now too! I'll have the receipts somewhere for a p/n I'm sure.

You could be on to something there, I think they’re not that old but in reality I probably swapped them out about 10 years ago!
-
I wonder if it might help fix my hot starting issues, it sometimes spins over quite a lot before finally catching and spluttering into life if it’s been parked up a while on a hot day!
-
Not mine, currently 133K, bought it at 50K
-
Major transformation there, good effort! I uncovered and started mine, ran it up to temperature, stopped it and put the cover back on again, shut the garage door!
-
😂😂😂 Don’t you just love it when that happens! At least they’re done now.

A bit like this then. If you want to PM me an address I'll put it in the post next time I get chance to go to the shop. I'm not bothered about anything for it, it doesn't really owe me anything and I'm guessing it won't cost a deal to post.
