This is the rear wiper motor I removed and the jet that's in there, I haven't tried removing yet as I don't know how it comes out and don't want to break anything. Give me a clue how it comes out!

I’ll take a look in the garage this evening, I should have one as I’ve deleted the rear wiper and the old stuff is boxed up somewhere.

Genuine Corrado a/c parts in good condition must be worth decent money. I paid £250 for a full Climatronic set up for mine a lot of years ago, that did include wiring loom and controller but it was from a Passat so it didn’t have the rarity factor. We never got factory fit a/c so it’s hard to know if much of it could be merged into a UK aftermarket setup. I’m sure the pipes are a better fit than the Diavia ones that got thrown in by the dealers when they took an order for one here but they’re unlikely to mate up. I’ve got various Passat and Golf bits in mine but it took some ingenuity to make some of it work!

I bought mine under that part number in 2012, they’re a tight fit but not impossible. The ARB, part 14 on the print of ETKA I’m looking at says it’s p/n 1H0411309F and that it’s 20mm. Can’t see that uses 17mm bushes?

There were times when I shut the garage doors and ignored it hoping it would go away! My eldest daughter now tells me I'm leaving it to her in my will, she was 5 and siting in a booster seat when we bought the valver.

The lip spoiler is a Kamei but I bought it 25+ years ago for my valver, no idea where I bought it or if they're still available. Originally it was painted Blue Pearl Effect LC5Z which was a 1990 only colour, probably better known as a Golf Rallye colour. I transferred in to the VR6 when I traded up. The colour is Classic Green so it's basically a Storm with a grey interior! It was on a forecourt next to a green Storm when we bought it but we preferred the grey leather to the cream. It's had various mods over the years, Koni coilovers and a Magnex exhaust went on in 2000, In-Pro lighting came and went as did various wheels and a Schrick VGI, now it has OBD2, Teves 20 and Climatronic from an assortment of different VAG cars. Brakes are 288 fronts and Mk4 rears. Other than the various wiring and ECU changes, the only engine mod is a pair of Schrick 268 cams. I'm sure there's a heap of other stuff included in 20 years of minor mods, repairs and an engine build that I've blanked out and pretended I haven't spent money on!

I found a write up many years ago by someone in the States who'd adapted a VSR to use OBD2 in a Golf, they're available but you just have to keep your eyes open and not have too much of a deadline to work to! Another vote for the red VR6 badge here, some oik did me favour nicking mine years ago, the only one I could buy from the dealers at the time was red and I've had it ever since.

Parts collection and delivery for easypops?

That’s looking good in there, only seems like yesterday it was on Vince’s engine stand. Enjoy getting it bedded in, essential journeys only of course!

What 80's - 90s cars for sale have caught your eye recently.

A lot of strong prices too, most unlike the Corrado market here in the UK. I’ve never understood why the Corrado is so undersold here! -
When I was pulling mine to pieces at 115,000 miles to do the cam chains I'd bought all the parts up front including a genuine clutch kit. The clutch I took out of the car didn't look any different from the one I was putting in, I could hardly measure a discernible difference in thickness between the two.

Add me to that list of folks who aren’t jealous, looking good!

Very nice 👍 bet you can’t wait to see that back in!

I'd forgotten about that unexpected benefit of the OBD2 wiring that allowed me to remove the Passat overlay loom and simplify the Climatronic wiring, maybe you could do that while you're in there 😗

I remember going through all the same thought processes as you when I was looking for grey leather Recaros in 2005! I ended up paying around £700 for a real scruffy pair in 2007 and tidied them up with a Furniture Clinic restore kit. I then had everything re-trimmed in 2018. A pair from a Ford could be had for about the same money in those days as they are today, unlike the Corrado version which has at least doubled in price! Of course they were a very rare option in the day due to the insane cost. Hang in there, you’ll turn some up one day.

No problem Martin, glad to be able to help, lets hope it does the job now. There must have been another issue in the post you put up last night from Serial that was keeping the ECU from switching the fuel pump.
-
Sorry, bum steer there! That must have been a new record for me getting the fuse box out and back in again as well as opening the ECU plug to check the wiring just to find that I was mistaken earlier and when I'm not laid in the footwell looking in a mirror the wire in G1/3 turns out to be Yellow/Blue and goes directly to T68/6 at the ECU. The black wire is in G1/4 and that goes to the coil pack on the wiring diagram.See photo for confirmation. All goes to confirm that the wire you're looking at from the ECU should be connected there, I don't suppose the donor Golf had an immobiliser fitted that was wired into the fuel pump?
-
Did you get any further with this? I've had a look this morning (mirror on a stick and head torch!) and the wire coming out of G1/3 on mine is black too but it disappears up into the loom behind the fuse box and I lose it. I've checked all my notes and drawing mark ups from the OBD2 installation and I've made no comment there, I even highlighted the yellow blue wire at the time to mark that I've installed it, and all the drawings I have show it going from G1/3 at the fuse box to T68/6 at the ECU via connector T2b behind the fuse box, no mention of any black wire. I did mine in 2011 so my memories of it are a little hazy though. I can drop the parcel shelf and pull the fuse box out for a better look later on if you haven't found anything, I haven't had it out of the car for whole weeks now! I'm sure there's a simple answer in there.

Schrick inlets are available in OBD1 and 2 variants, only the fixing flange for the throttle body varies between them. I had an OBD1 Schrick on my car before and looked at buying a new inlet elbow for it when I made the swap to OBD2 but I was quoted £450 for the new part so sold the manifold on. With hindsight that was probably a mistake! I've looked in passing at the VGI inlet manifold that was fitted to the late 12V OBD2 VR6 motors in the States when Europe got the 24V but it moves the throttle body to the left side of the engine bay which of course brings more complications with it that I probably don't need.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s worth every penny, I’ve long thought we undervalue our cars. I try to think of reasons to justify buying another one but unless I match six numbers tonight it’s highly unlikely! It sounds like a fantastic motor for somebody. -

I spotted that on his drive a couple of days ago, it’s just around the corner from my house! 8 grand’s a few mortgage payments though so I’ll have to pass! -
Blue M plate, parked on the drive at a house in Cuckney. Must only be 200 yards from my house! Anyone on here?

Now that is a blast from the past!
