Steering wheel slightly left = Car runs straight - Tracking?
dr_mat replied to daveh's topic in Drivetrain
If you let go of the wheel, what happens? If it pulls to the right, then something weirdo is happening, or the road is heavily cambered to the right. If it runs pretty much straight, but your steering wheel is slightly off-centre, then the guy that did the tracking didn't set the wheel in the middle properly while he was doing it. Tracking just means setting so both front wheels point in the same direction, but as a courtesy to the driver, they should set it with the steering wheel straight... -
monoboy: dead right: The point of the Corrado rear spoiler (just in case someone hasn't already mentioned it) is that it comes *down* for parking rather than it goes *up* for driving fast. It was really designed to move only because rearward visibility is (more) shite with it up. The reason different cars have different cut-off speeds was also thought to be political - the thing has very little impact below serious speeds anyway, but in the UK for example, a spoiler that raises at 60mph rarely gets seen in it's raised state, so they made it raise at lower speeds...

HPI warranty their check. So if something comes out the woodwork and they hadn't warned you about it, they will cover your loss for up to £10k. Worth the extra fiver or tenner over the other services, IMHO!

Ouch. You're looking at a complete front end then, on the one side at least!

Most people practice in the local Tesco car park. Don't forget to take your homies along to sit on the bonnet while you *ahem* warm the tyres up. Right, I'm off to buy shares in Burberry. ;)

Now you're talking. Why risk the timing chains if you have the wherewithall to test the starter for current?
-
Leaves on the line?

I never said anything about your grammar, I'm sure she's a lovely person... ;) I'll get me coat..

or-a-free-grammar-book...

Other point is the cam belt never goes slack.. As you say, worn timing chain can be a little sensitive to skipping teeth if you suddenly throw it around..
-
Definte mild... If you do it *really* carefully then theoretically it'll be as gentle as a normal starter motor firing up.

Bad idea to bump start VR6s, definitely not recommended.

Use the search, luke, been discussed many many times before. No simple answers.

CPS won't prevent the car from turning over, nor will the fuel pump. You forgot to add "dodgy immobiliser" to the list.
-
Damnit, well that's no use then. Time to get the chroming kit out then!
-
The oil pressure decreases as the car warms up.... But I know what you're trying to say. If it's the chains, it'll rattle all the time though, warm or cold, no difference. Point is the tensioner can't extend far enough to maintain tension on the chain.

I'll have one.. :) I have a feeling the dealer is either gonna tell you they can't get them ultimately, since that's what most dealers have said. But.. we'll give it a go! That's assuming it's the standard chrome Corrado script badge we're talking about, not the horrible "Porsche style" script badges that crop up on ebay from time to time! (bleh).

I think they're supposed to help the injectors to provide a finer, more uniform mist, and therefore the engine can run leaner without pinking. The new direct-injection engines do something similar, very very finely controlled injector pattern allows them to burn in *part* of the cylinder without pinking, so it can run REALLY lean on overrun, and when coasting.

It'll make it more bore-ing. I'll get my coat...

The internals of the regulators or the internals of the alternator? Surely the alternator itself will physically be larger for the 120 or 150A models than the puny 70A, it's twice the current rating! Not sure about the regulator though.

Mr haywire! You came back to an OE exhaust! I hate to say it, but I told ya so...! ;)
-
Bit worried about the 40lbft torque though... You'd have to rev it to 28875 rpm to get 220 bhp with only 40 lbft torque!! ;)
-
I'm pretty sure you'll find the answer to this in the search, in fact I know you will, cos I've typed it in more than once myself...!
-
If you don't have a constant 13.5-14.2 volts showing across the battery when the engine is running, your alternator is knackered. Get it fixed.

The coatings on the outside are supposed to improve the heat transfer (or reduce it, in the case of the underside). The Schrick tends to get pretty hot to the touch during normal operation, and that's not good for your performance stats, feeding baking hot air to the engine. The coating on the insides is moot though, from what I've heard the Schrick has pretty good internal smoothing to aid air flow anyway.
