Engineering food for thought (4wd and Supercharged content)

Even if it is true (seems highly unlikely to me), not many 4wd systems have a central diff that will fully lock anyway, so any difference in gearing would just be lost in the diff. -
Engineering food for thought (4wd and Supercharged content)

Not heard that 1 before. Interesting. And I don't think it's true, either. Anyone who designs a 4wd system where the wheels don't turn at the same speed wants to lose their job pretty sharpish. You'd chew tyres in no time, the car would buck and twitch while the transmission flexed .. -
Oh they look the same as mine did. Don't worry about the powder on the surface, feel the weight and flexibility of the gaiter, they're nice quality parts those.
-
You might either have been given the wrong bits, or they switched suppliers!
-
You wuz had, mine were heavyweight ultra-flexible black rubber gaitors. Very nice indeed!
-
It's been a bad year for steering rack gaitors. Easy swap though, and cheap from the dealer (dealer ones look much nicer quality than aftermarket too).
-
It's not dark grey actually it's blue ...
-
What's the ratio of the cost of the item compared to the cost of shipping it back? Contact them. There's a good probability they won't even want it back if it costs much to ship.
-
OR your phone is ringing...
-
You have, of course, gone and asked at the post office ... ?
-
Not quite sure why people are assuming you've been ripped off, just based on some cryptic charge codes on an invoice. But - if you're not happy cos it's still pulling to the left, take it back. No need to go ballistic though, it's not uncommon for ANY car to pull one way a little bit, most often it depends on the camber of the road .. Of course, if you've asked them to "do a four wheel alignment" and they don't have the gear for it and have just made up some charges ... then go ballistic .. ! ;)

He didn't say his fans weren't on ... !
-
Ah, you have a 16v. The VR fans kick in at ~ 92-95 anyway, with the completely standard VW thermoswitch.
-
This is a nice idea ... if you have a thermostat that opens about 7 degrees cooler than standard. Otherwise the fan will just be on and off all day long...!
-
You need a new thermostat and probably a new thermo switch in the radiator .. could just be a fuse gone though. Do a search ..
-
Your thermostat is stuck open. And quite possibly you are missing the two slow-speed fan stages. I've never seen over 100 degrees on the water temp gauge, no matter how hot it is, and no matter how long I've been sat in traffic. Your oil temps are fine though ........
-
Only if it's ginger.
-
Oil temps of ~120 wouldn't be uncommon if you're cruising at 80-90 mph - particularly in 45 degrees ambient air .. Might want to think about using fully synthetic oil though ... !
-
I did, but someone beat me to it!
-
You should replace your brake position sensor (could possibly be wired into the brake light switch). Don't assume that anyone else with an abs fault has the same one as yourself .. ;) Sorry RDH, I don't know any more about relay 31, but I can tell you that on some cars the ABS relays are behind the glovebox, not in the main fusebox area.
-
Sounds like the immobiliser ... Got a coilpack engine? Do a search ...
-
Have a search for timing chain noises. Long+short answer is if the "rattle" comes from the gearbox end of the block, and gets worse at 1200 rpm, but then goes away when you rev the engine, chances are it's the timing chains.
-
Sounds to me like they don't need changing. Move on with your life ....
-
Note that they will sit at different angles/heights if the steering is not at straight-ahead.
-
Best you could hope for was persuading them it wasn't your car, it was a green corrado with the same number plate. But then you'd have to stand in court and tell the same judge that you weren't there when you were ... !?! Are you seeing where I'm going with this? ;)
