the looms are a definite winner. along with a daves16v short shifter i think it is one of the better £'s per performance upgrades :D
-
nice 1 thanks chris - that front trim issue has always been the hesitation for me tackling this job
-
probably not m8 as the reason for the uprated loom is to avoid the voltage drop in the original loom essentially the voltage travels from the battery up to the headlight switch in the dash, which when turned on then send to the lights - causing a loss in volts along the way a bulb supplied with a low voltage is never going to shine bright (like a diamond ;) lol) ive got ring xenon max bulbs in mine & find them superb. so much so i often now get flashed by oncoming cars when i only have normal dipped beam on
-
ha ha now that will be an exciting 'will it, wont it' moment ;) lol
-
no probs Jim i am very familiar with the process as sometimes my sunroof opens but wont close so i carry a screw driver with me (+ driver by the way) lol ahh ok, be forceful but not brute then with that trim. i had read that sometimes they stick to the screen bond
-
i would be interested to know how you find removing the headliner from the trim on the top edge of the front windscreen - could you let me know pls m8? i need to do the liner in both of my rado's & the gf's storm
-
Jim - try this pop the interior light cluster out from the left hand side - take care to catch the small metal clip which holds this in place as it normally pops out - disconnect the cluster now look inside & you will see there are two philips screws at the front side by the windscreen holding the plastic cover in place, unscrew these & then slide the cover slightly forwards & it will remove ;)

vince got me a exide excell eb712 to replace my dodgy battery cant recall the cost but it was very decent

after several MOT's where i have no clue how it passed i have finally booked the VR in to Longlife thursday next week & it will be parading a shiney new manifold back stainless with a hi-flow CAT :D
-

hi Jim i have a bag of the door card clips somewhere. If i can find them i will post you 3 out Drop me a PM with your address m8 & i will have a look as soon as i have chance :)

yippee!! fingers crossed

no danger m8. i ended up replacing many more parts than those which were on the original list lol plus you just cant cater for things like the heater matrix pipes collapsing when they fitted the new roose hoses - that was costly even though vince did me a half price on the labour to fit a new matrix! however, on the plus side it meant that apart from attacking the bottom end the majority of the engine related area is now new :D lol oh, if you consider changing your cooling hoses i would recommend using the original VW constant tension clips rather than the jubilee set the hose manf's sell (as long as it doesnt invalidate the warranty on the hoses) FYI check out Post Office for credit card - they have a 0% transfer thingy & also a 3 month 0% on purchases! ;) i know cause i got one 2 weeks ago so as i can put a manifold back longlife stainless system on the VR before its MOT lol
-
speaking from personal experience i would HIGHLY recommend allowing at least a 50% of total cost buffer when you have your engine work done. as is normal with all older cars when you start to refresh/renew fundamental areas it can cause knock on issues, which were not apparent before starting said work, due to connected areas or parts which are ailing & past their best life i tried to think of as much as possible when i had my head rebuild etc done & yet i was still caught out numerous times fortunately vince at stealth has extreme pride in their work & ensured that in the end everything was as we both wanted - huge credit to his tenacity! have a read of my build thread if you want more info http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=44751&highlight=g0ldf1ng3r

for the few quid it costs it is worth whacking a bottle in a tank of petty however, if you regularly use v power i would imagine that keeps the injectors etc in pretty good condition the 7hp gain fifth gear saw was more likely due to giving the car a good service & putting new plugs etc in it rather than a 'magic' redex ;)
-
ha ha yes indeed! cant forget their amazingly technical 'trick' lol
-
yeah that was the one from volks wizard near where i live & where the gf brought her storm i hope they do a bit more than just change the oil / plugs this time & then dyno it!!
-
nice Jim :)
