  2. Hi Tim Just a quick note to let you know that i have emailed Prestige with view to submitting the document for a quotation for my VR6
  3. hi chuggs my total cost including the sports cat was £334 ex vat & thus £400 INC vat i will update this thread & my build thread with pics & hopefully some videos next week. plus i should soon be able judge the sound it is producing properly as Paul said it will soften up once used for a week or so, which i will also duly report on i must say though that at present i am very happy indeed with it!!
  4. why thank you :D tell us anyway m8....its not a competition ;) lol
  5. crackalacking! cool, drop me a PM with details once you have had time top remove it :)
  6. YEEE-HAAAAAA!!! well, after a long day in birmingham yesterday i am pleased to say my shiny new longlife stainless exhaust from downpipe back with a sport cat & a gorgeous oval tail pipe is happily sat in place :D my initial report is concerning how much attention & pride in work Paul took in fitting the system. he had not previously fabricated a longlife exhaust on a VR & he seemed to enjoy the challenge & relished producing a very high standard of a final result. my VR is lowered & that presented him with a few challenges routing the pipework into optimum positioning, which he overcame nicely he was also very complimentary about the car & said he has a friend who is a rado addict & has a G60 & a 16V IIRC lol i have taken some pics of the during stage but have yet to take some of the end result, i hope to do so this weekend. as such i will post them next week along with a report of my feelings on noise levels, performance, mpg changes etc etc it was also nice to hear that unlike most places longlife do not require you to take your car back for an exhaust inspection each year so as to keep the warranty intact & that i can just give him a call if any issues arise. as well as this Paul said that if i find the noise level to be higher than i desired, we had discussed prior to install that due to the mod's & BMC on my VR i didnt want the exhaust to overpower or drown out the superb engine noise i get, i can just give him a call & he will order in a short silencer to put in there so, in short, initial reports are all glowing :)

  8. Thanks for the update Goldie! am i right that you have said the seat base up/down height handle is ok :) (i wish i knew the correct terminology lol) if so how much would you like including postage & could i please have the screws which hold it in place as well? thanks muchly
  9. Excellent :) The time certainly flew by! I did try to attend some local meets at teh end of summer but unfortunately the black boy meet in knowle got cancelled due to insurance reasons & the moat house meet in alcester was in between locations as the pub closed. I also sold my apartment & brought a house so that took up pretty much from may until december im glad you are having fun with your blackbery, even if it has ended up as more of a project. however, with the work so far im sure you will end up with a stunning example i will indeed let you know once the system is fabricated & installed tomorrow. i think i may be acting a forum guinea pig for longlife as exhaust solutions as scarce at present & it might produce a group buy or discount etc for others on here. a blast & car chat etc sounds great Paul! ive got my hands full over the next few weeks as im boarding out my outhouse & also knocking my dining room through with my kitchen but if you could drop me a PM about your paint please include your mobile & i will get in touch so we can arrange something :)
  10. thanks m8 much appreciated it is the tilt/height adjustment handle i need - rather than the one which makes the back of the seat move so you can get in the back of the car
  11. hi is there a passenger seat tilt handle & screws available pls? mine is missing on the VR for some reason thanks
  12. hi goldie is there a passenger seat tilt handle & screws available pls? mine is missing on the VR for some reason thanks
  13. hi chris is there a passenger seat tilt handle & screws available pls? mine is missing on the VR for some reason thanks
  14. we ate too late to have the additional pancakes - thus postponed to this evening yay! oh & lemon & honey for me :D
  15. Hi Paul Nice to see the VR & your good work is progressing. Not sure if you will recall but we met at box tree's shell station some time ago. hopefully we can both attend a local meet in the warmer weather. could i please ask where you had your paint sorted? if you could PM me some details i would be very grateful. I am off to longlife for a new stainless system tomorrow, which is one of the last essential big jobs to tick off as ive done all the running gear, suspension, head rebuild & subtle mods, & that means it is time to start saving & looking for a paint shop which i can trust & has guarantees on their work. i dont want to end up being stung with bloody micro blisters again i am hoping to be able to have a glass out full respray. did you remove the glass & bumpers etc yourself? thanks in advance andy
  16. welcome, make yourself at home i like a rado in white )
  17. a trick which you could use to potentially identify a starter motor getting jammed, when it next offends, is to get a long screw driver or similar (something that reaches down to the starter) and give it a knock on the top with a hammer - exercising due care of course i had to do this when my starter motor gave up the first day i drove my car back from stealth after my engine work symptoms was that i would turn the key in the ignition & nothing happened related to it trying to start, no clicks or anything. IIRC all i could hear was the normal electric water pump starting to woosh the coolant round the system
  18. can you hear the starter motor trying to turn when you turn the key in the ignition? if not perhaps it could be that for some reason it is jamming when the heat builds up in the engine bay maybe
  19. Im off to see Paul at longlife on thurs this week for a manifold back system with sport CAT i will report here once fitted
  20. i cant wait fella. it has been a long time coming as ive been essentially waiting for the original OEM one to fall off lol i will of course duly post photos & comments on the outcome
  21. fuchs titan race pro 2 fully synthetic 10w40 opieoils.co.uk give us forum discount ;)
  22. dont panic Mr Mannering! coilover adjustment - probably just need a standard C spanner oil leak - where from? - could just be a tiny seal radiator leak - rads are not that expensive but the labour would be a few hours. its not that tough a job but a tad scary once you have the front end off in bits lol (i changed mine myself & managed to get one of the last genuine VW ones) FYI i would recommend NOT using any rad seal or similar product though! IIRC i believe the VR has very small channels in the block which are designed to circulate the coolant & using a rad seal type product can cause these to get blocked & effect the cooling system have you asked them to look at your running gear? IE CV boots/joints, drop links, tie rod ends, wishbone bushes, rear beam bushes etc from my experience it is those type of jobs that can be expensive as they are pretty labour intensive & as with cars of such ages time can be burnt just trying to get the damn things apart lol
