it took me quite a while but I managed to get all but 2, IIRC, of the pics for the guide KRIS produced & I made a word doc for it. if you drop me a PM with your email address im more than happy to send you a copy :) I take no credit for the guide itself but the full set of pics kris did with it, which now have dead links, show screw locations etc

Help needed - possible coolant leak from radiator

Indeed m8, leave the stressing until you actually know what the issue is. I say similar to the gf as she worries about things that are not & have not even happened yet - its futile & a waste of energy, worry about things when they actually happen but try to make buffer plans for if or when they do lol if the head does have to come off for a new gasket then 'other jobs' will come down to how much money is available. when I had the chains & tensioners done on the VR I took the 'opportunity' to ask stealth to carry out some preventative maintenance as well as a couple of upgrade mods, those being: head refurb with new valve stems seals, relapped valves etc etc dropped some 263 cams in there but kept the old ones to make something with (a shelf or book ends something for the garage lol) chains & tensioners, both upper & lower. bear in mind that lower tensioner requires gear box off, IIRC, & thus changed the clutch & clutch arm (prone to bending over time) & thrust bearing etc as I had the high lift cams I thought only right to put a BMC on & as then have a 'vince special' remap to take advantage of the mods however, due to the mileage on my VR I then ran into issues chasing round ailing parts that decided to let go or not be working as they should due to everything else working so well. I would hope that with yours only covering 54K you wouldn't get into the same paths I had to go down but have a look at my thread if you want more info about the experience http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=44751&highlight=g0ldf1ng3r

no m8 - if you click the 'go advanced' button it then shows you the more detailed options for posting which includes adding attachments for pics etc

it is still difficult to say best or worst case without running the aforementioned test to confirm what is the problem. I know it must be disheartening to have such an issue with such a low mileage motor BUT IT IS a very low mileage lump and surely has to be more valuable for resale if the problem is fixed rather than putting in a recon etc lump yes a recon may be a cheaper option but when I had the work done on my VR, at around 150K, the bottom end was in fairly good condition & all 6 of the bores still showed the factory honing marks. OK so cylinder 1, IIRC, was more smoothed than the other but it should imply that your 54K lump will be almost like new (kind of lol) rather than speculating & worrying, personally, I would get it diagnosed & then go from there :)

sorry andy, I didn't mean my comment to be harsh on yours. it was definitely still a valid point :)

agree in principle but if the system is over pressurising the black cap would show coolant seepage before the expansion tank is relieving the pressure from the underside outlet I recall stealth doing a 'leak down' test & pressure test on my VR when it was having troubles after they did the head rebuild etc check this link out for the 2 tests for coolant systems http://www.benplace.com/pressure_test.htm

rats can look very good indeed BUT subtlety is a must what an abortion of an attempt :( -
just an idea but could you not drop into that shop you mention & ask if they recall the car & what they thought of it etc?

Lots of helpful people on here m8, a friendly bunch in the main & as Jim said we like to see where our lovely rado's pop up :D In answer to your questions: 1. - Im not 100% but I don't believe so. I do however think I recall that all flavours of rado use the same suspension setup. There is a huge suspension thread on here, its worth a read. In essence though you really do get what you pay for with suspension. If I had the money I would upgrade the KWV1's on my VR to the V3's & then put the V1's on my valver 2. - Unsure on the cams for a 9A. I think it is a popular upgrade though so a search through the members gallery section might bring you up some dyno's etc 3. - Ive not heard of this before. Rather than a golf one try the breakers section on here, or put a wanted post up, & someone may have a proper one you could purchase hope that helps m8

more newbies, welcome mat

take your time & make the right decision for you m8 I love my valver, so much so in fact I brought it back last year when it popped up on ebay. however if it had to be one or the other, & I had a similar commute as yourself, I would go with the VR & simply find a longer route to work ;) it is only 12 miles each way to my place of work & I find that enough to get the engine properly warm in both winter & summer, plus it doesn't rack the miles up too much (I leave those for the play times round the clover leaf or country roads lol)
-
welcome :) the one with the jet in the background is a cracking pic m8!!

ha ha! andy I take the long route EVERYWHERE.......just for the pleasure lol 20 mile round trip to my local corner shop it is you know ;) pmsl

Headlamp dips not working - Fixed WATERPROOF YOUR NEW LOOM RELAYS
g0ldf1ng3r replied to AngusL's topic in Newbies Hangout
I have 2 uprated looms, both from KUR2Y who was a user on here providing triple relay looms, & neither of them required any cutting into feeds. OK they use spades & not OEM connectors but ive not had any issue with them (apart from 1 relay going after 4 odd years) I believe he used 3 relays so as if one dies you still retain headlight sidelight function I haven't put them in a sealed box either. there is a person on here who's company makes wiring & they now offer a loom with OEM connectors, take a look here http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=81540 I am considering purchasing one of the above for my valver, as KUR2Y seems to have not been around for a while, but haven't done so yet -
keep looking m8. I know the need for one is great but it really is worth looking for an example which you will be happy with rather than jumping in & it biting you

personally - what with the 'odd advert descriptions & contradictions' as picked up above I would be staying away from this one things are normally 'cheap' for a reason ;) the bubbling on the rear quarter by the boot looks suspect & if you do go & view I would definitely check for any signs of accident repairs in the boot floor etc on that corner. plus it states body is in great shape but then shows areas of rust & bubbling & I would say a big rip in the drivers bolster was more than 'slight wear' - not repairable more like definitely not a bargain lol
