  1. why? you gunna hold a flare next to the air filter or something?[/quote:37aes7ta] Haha, no, gonna chong a massive biff into the intake.[/quote:37aes7ta] Smokin! :afro:
  2. I think Powder coating gets a bad rap because of the thin crap coats that some ppl get when they get their wheels referbed ect... and when it does crack it comes off in chunks not not just a scratch. But! If you do it properly to an item that is unlikely to receive a hard hit or knock (like your suspension coils) then it forms a very thick, non-degradable plastic coating that gives better corrosion protection than a pigment that is applied with an aerosol. You also ALWAYS get a great finish, never any drips or runs that form when you try to aerosol spray complex shapes
  3. why? you gunna hold a flare next to the air filter or something?
  4. i think its pumped out... it goes in through the air intake
  5. well... you can do it yourself but at this price I'm not tempted! although i have seen kits for £100 before, and you can do the cooking in the oven. And it only takes 20mins to cook an alloy or something small
  6. powder coating is just paint mate, the only difference is that it is applied to the metal as a powder (hence Powder coating). Paint is applied like dust and then the part is stuck in the oven where the paint melts and the dust particles "join-up" forming a continuous skin. There are a few types out there, these are basically split into two categories Thermoplastic powder. This is where the paint once melted can be re-worked (re-melted).[/*:m:j2ox8f9f] Thermosetting powder is one where after the process of cooking in the oven the paint chemically changes and forms a new compound that is continuous over the surface of the metal (this is probably the better of the two)[/*:m:j2ox8f9f] The benefits are basically: * they contain no solvent. * emit no nasty compounds * can produce much thicker coatings without running or sagging * overspray reused (so no waste) They can form thicker layers than paint so have the potential to be stronger, the problem comes when you DO scratch them depending on the method you used (Thermoplastic or Thermosetting)it can be difficult to repair.
  7. mine finaly got here! Whoop! Now to strap one to the ferret :D
  8. ok craig... got three for you today a funny one - a little one to keep us young'uns happy - and a female vocalist for ya -
  9. nope, works out that the chap actually had exactly what i wanted! An early cowling with a late steering wheel. sorry!
  10. right that's clinched it... i'm adding "Re-spray" to the list of things to do!
  11. good idea, just close the boot with the rear seats forward to check though... If its not that though then im with Kev, Check the central locking. Mine kept going off and causing a flat battery. I have to disconnect the battery to stop the car from unlocking and locking itself all the time! :? (by the way kev... Your name has changed again! ) Edit: whoops didn't see that post above! You know what fuse the central locking is on?
  12. Time = Battery capacity / Current drawn 60ma on a 60amh battery is 1000hrs.... thats 41days!
  13. could be as simple as a faulty battery? 60ma is expected i think. where did you measure it from?
  14. i find its rubbish at removing anything other than tar, which its very good at removing! i would look for a sticky glue remover, there must be something better to use sounds silly but has anyone tried petrol? thats dissolves most polymer adhesives... just don't go round doing it with a fag in your mouth!
  15. showing your age there Craig! Fantastic artist Janis Ian, surprisingly influential on loads of modern folk and soul artists although you don't hear much of her nowadays. good choice! :thumbleft: got another one for ya... a little obscure now... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcpdKJq-HNQ a psychedelic folk band formed in Scotland in 1965 that went by the name of "The Incredible String Band" thoughts? :camp:
  16. yea would not look home. You can change steering wheel with out changing cowling and stalks so just use either early or late cowling and stalks hmm... Right ho, ill have to contact the chap im buying the cowling from then. Thanks :)
  17. holy thread revival! if i buy a late steering wheel and cowling but use early stalks is that a problem then? will I have a huge hole where the hazard goes or is it in a completely different place?
  18. over fuelling maybe causing the exhaust popping, or ignition as above. does the exhaust smell "rich" with petrol? Still got the number of the bloke you got the car from? You could ask him if he knows about the water leak oil leak. As above id also get the car steam cleaned and pressure tested at a garage. find out where the leaks are coming from... id say the popping and the leaks are unrelated. Also if the water pump has gone you don't wont to be driving round init... could blow a your head gasket. get it looked over and get back to us with more info :)
  19. dunno, not an expert... But ive heard good things about this lot http://www.magnecor.co.uk/technicalinfo.htm TBH... id guess any improvements would just come from reducing EMI and RFI and not any horsepower gain. Any hp gain comes from more fuel and better air mixtures. The "size" or efficiency of a spark from a plug wont increase the Hp unless the EMI was interfering with the engine management system...
  20. yeah i was thinking about this... The original thred is viewtopic.php?f=15&t=62724 they only make foil lined stuff though... no OEM foam left for the early cars. You can still get the later stuff though
  21. LOL i aint bought it yet! just tempted to offer silly money to see if i could sell it on for profit, i prefer my C for the looks and comfort. Although Rocco's do look pretty cool they aint my cup of tea
  22. this site apparently didnt do 205 40 16. but those R888 looked a bit rude! :D Just phoned them up and they were wanting £36 for the NANKANG/NS2 and they do sell the 205 by 40 on 16" (but they don't sell them on the website! :cuckoo: ) so I was Wrong... your better off with camskill unless you really do want those Toyo r888's... or even these!
