  1. you had better be joking son else you'll be the first i punt off!
  2. Indeedy it was/is. Having been lucky enough to go out in both yours and John's I have a rough idea of what it should be feel like; mental. I am waiting on the ECU from Australia and given no furthur volcanic ash it should be with me early next month. The plan is to fit the ECU, complete the run-in and tune from there. I can use all the existing sensor inputs and I only need to replace the throttle body for an auto one (which I am attempting to source) and buy a MAP sensor. I don't need to use a wideband to start with but intend to fit one from the off as it will help with the fuelling. I can then get the engine up and running on managment that I can adjust and tweak myself with the longer term plan being to fit both a cam and crank position sensor set-up over the winter to refine the setup furthur. So I hope it will be basically be a Digi sensor setup with a throttle pot and wideband, I also intend to just unpin the various parts of the ECU loom plug as required and feed them straight into my new ECU loom plug. That's the plan anyway....... :D I'm lost in Technical heaven... sounds the business thou!
  3. Philuk doesn't like donking his mates  how sad are we....
  4. Hehe... "donking"! :camp:
  5. I thought that was a make shift bull bar!
  6. There's lots of specialists who make replacement panels, rebuild engines, make replacement interior trim.. most of the mechanical stuff in these and especially the electronic stuff was pretty noddy compared to the stuff in our VW's (let alone what's out there in current stuff!!) so easier to replicate. Panels, etc - yeah, sure we could get replacement panels made. But instrumentation, sensors, drivetrain, etc - we're pretty screwed once it all starts going obsolete. You know how at aircooled shows they have piles of old rusty Camper and Beetle parts and people sort through them in the hope of finding a crucial piece to refurbish? I can't help but see it in our future.. yeah... but with only a few thousand carrados sold in the uk how many of those stalls do you think you'll be able to find!! :(
  7. well your a spoil sport! Glad you got Dave to look at it though, didn't think it would be that bad
  8. whats the ETA ok getting your car Re-fixed then buddy! I need to know
  9. you beat me too it
  10. maybe.... maybe. The only posts I ever see you post are moans. have you tried the chair test? If your knees creek then your in trouble! However, the man has a point. I don't see the appeal myself. But this is why we all have the wonder of free choice i suppose! There was a thread on the forum regrading a method of filling in the plate that involved melting or "welding" a cut section from another bumper in the hole where the number plate used to go. Stopped all the problem with cracking and stuff. I don't remember when it was though.. sorry. It looked like quite a laborious process as well if im honest :? What problems do you invisage with the lights again?
  11. also i think there is a thread on here about Audi TT brake disks.... :confused4:
  12. i like the standard ones to be honest... i don't see the need to invest thousands on bigger brakes. I think you can swap the brakes from a MK 3 over (288mm if i remember correctly) or there are loads of brake kits for Rado's on the net. just google them... But for those your talking upto £1700 just for brakes! http://www.hosesolutions.org.uk/index.p ... ts_id=6122 Stick with the standard brake sizes but get some nice groved disks and paint the calipers. Unless your going track racing and you have upgraded suspension and Very good tyres, the brakes won help you much IMO... but then there are loads of threads out there discussing this very subject
  13. Depends on the garage I think... but I know you can get Brand new Powerflex Rear Axle Bushes for £50... OEM ones are £7.50 each and the valve is £30 from VAG (i think :confused4: ) If its much more than £500 then id eat my imaginary Hat :chef: Whats wrong with the Std ones? Are you wonting to go zooming about in them or do you jut want nice looking ones?
  14. Thats wouldn't cost the earth to fix... Brakes all round for OEM stuff isn't too expensive in the grand scheme of things. Alternator belt is a 5 min job with a spanner, power steering leak could be a simple thing like a bad pipe, and if its not i could always flog you my spare pump for a £10 posted! I dunno what price id put on it but i would not expect it to cost more than £500 and like every one else was saying... after 20 years these things will need replacing...
  15. go on... what's on the list then? I LOVE lists
  16. It's running on chocolate eggs mate... you not heard of chocolate power?! :cuckoo:[/quote:30p6c2ko] well, it an interesting choice... personally id lubricate using a part synthetic oil but who am i to judge!
  17. whats the cream eggs all about? Are they essential?
