You can just remove it (seen a fair few Corrado's with it all removed) but it does provide effective sound deadening - you will probably notice the noises from the engine bay a lot more than you did with it fitted.
And prepare to have a frustrating time getting it off.. the stuff used to bond it on is an absolute swine to remove. It has been discussed a bit though about how to clean it off so worth having a look round on the search :)

Volkswagen! :) Go to the parts counter.
If you're going to do the work yourself, set aside a nice dry day to tackle it and make sure you have plenty of patience... the sunroof mechanism is not for the faint hearted!

Wondering if some of the head shielding has come loose or something and the heat from the exhaust is coming up through the gear stick? You should get it checked out...
-
Just ask for the coolant flange on the side of the block for a G60 engine'd Corrado.. they should be able to find it soon enough on ETKA! :)
-
I can't quite see if it is the super common place for it to go, but it looks like it is. Yep - get a new flange and gasket from VW, and obviously some fresh bottles of G12+ for the coolant change. Don't buy a pattern part.. it just doesn't last!

Used to run a Porsche 944 (turbo? not sure) 3.5 bar FPR on my old G60.. seemed to do the job fine! If its good enough for Porsche, its good enough for a dub! :)
-
Had one of these on my G60 and just found it too much of an arse-pain to use on a daily basis.. I had the alignment adjusted by Stealth about 3 times in the year I owned it, plus had the gearbox oil changed as well just to rule that out.. it was always a git, and was always stubborn unless you were incredibly slow with the gear changes.
-
Not necessarily ;)
Saw Jabbasports IHI G60 (running about 300BHP with a stripped out interior) lapping faster than a Jabbaport Lotus Exige this weekend at Mallory Park. The excuse with the Lotus was the wrong tyres for the conditions but.. if your Corrado is as sorted as that, you've got a chance ;)

Most definately.. VR head bolts are stretch bolts so you can't reuse them!
-
well, buying the ultrasonic cleaner was the best £24 i've spent in a while.
I'm just amazed you can pick up that sort of kit for £24 in Maplin! Superb! If it does a good job of cleaning injectors, well, its considerably cheaper than buying new ones!

My opinion of Bam Margera just took an even bigger nosedive! I thought he used to own GOOD stuff like Lambo Gallardo's, etc...
-
I suffer from the same thing.. have wondered wtf it is for a long time! :)

Corrado Club of GB have a discount available but every time i've gone in and said about CCGB discount they just do it without asking for any proof of club membership.. so worth just asking and seeing what they say if you're not a member!

Yeah - its fairly easy to do. Better this time of year when its a bit warmer out.. did it in the winter once and the combination of fiddly clips, rubbery bits in the engine bay was finger torture. As Tim says, a 20 minute job tops. Assuming the throttle cable is the same as it is on the G60, order the little rubber bung for the hole that the throttle pedal end hooks into - that gets well crusty too, but only costs pence so worth changing at the same time!
If you go to Spirit VW in Leam try and get a discount of the older chap on the parts counter - he knocks off 10% for me now every time! :)

Pic of me with Ronald McDonald at Schipol airport in Amsterdam! :DJIM!!!

lol... not really a comparison I want making really!!

That looks like the ISV i've got on my 2.0 16v.. which came from an Audi 80 2.0 16v!!

The garage has been on the phone today and said that the caliper seems fine now that he's took it off and cleaned it all out - said there was a lot of corrosion in there which probably caused it to stick on. Phew.

Apparently some guy up in Hull I think it was got sort of trapped in a storm drain and the fire service could not free him before the flood water got up to him and drowned him.. imagine that!! :( I don't know why they couldn't have sorted out some sort of scuba thing or even a length of pipe being held above the surface for him to breathe through until they could free him! Dreadful :(
We've had a lot of rain here again today but its not been heavy enough to flood us as much - we had that last week! I tell you - if there are any hosepipe bans this summer.....
-
Ah - does look like Ice Grey in that light but yeah.. looking at it, can see its just plain old Grey.
Fair enough about plans. I'm sure the bug will eventually bite and you'll wanna tweak some bits on it!
-
Not many about in Ice Grey Violet - its one of my favourite Corrado colours ever! Whats your plans for it? :)

I did an experience with Everyman motorsport events over in Leicestershire. They do full half days where you drive 6 performance motors (Lambo, Aston, Porsche 911, etc) - if my short 1 hour Ferrari / Scooby session was anything to go by, you'd be behind the wheel for most of the time! :) Thoroughly enjoyed the day.
I also noticed that Mercedes Benz now do track day type things at Brooklands.. sure that'd be a riot in an AMG powered monster :)
-
No probs :) Makes sense to bunch a load of stuff together rather than start multiple threads :)
-
Well here's hoping that its just the pins!
Good timing though as i've got a full set of braided hoses i've been wanting to put on the car - this is a good opportunity to get the fronts done at least! :)
-
Well as i dont even own a jack at this point (really must buy one), got it booked into a really local trusted garage tomorrow morning.. Will see what they come up with and report back. Hope its nothing too serious :(

Need some advice peepz.........

They are supposed to be beserk cars but.. I should imagine fixing them puts Corrado ownership to shame price wise..
I'd take out a credit card or something or a small loan, buy it, clean it up, flog it.. you'll easily make your money back then some!
