  1. Wonder how such a low mileage car got so rotten? Corrado's are normally pretty damn solid on the underside so I'm surprised to hear it's so rotted out!

Really if it's as rotten as it sounds, it's probably not worth saving - as the cost to rectify all that rot, plus paintwork, plus any recomissioning work needed to get it back on the road (which could be extensive) could be quite substantial. May only really be worth it if it had some nice options (leather, air conditioning) and a comprehensive history.

As others have said, give him a lowball offer and go from there? Values for these cars only seem to be going one way so if you did invest the time and money over a couple of years, you could at least stand to get your money back eventually - better than having it languishing in the bank :)

  2. Hmmm... not sure how this sort of thing would work with the club constitution, etc however perhaps we should be giving serious thought to creating a social media admin role - someone who could take the lead on our Facebook and (extremely stagnant) Twitter account. Is this something you'd be seriously interested in doing, Chuggs? Are you planning on coming to the AGM?

  3. Yes, we are trying to use it.

I hate to immediately go on the defensive, but we're not social media or marketing experts - just car enthusiasts trying to keep a car club going for other enthusiasts.

What have you posted or what did you want sharing?

  4. Was at the practical classics restoration show today and a car trader had a 1995 Corrado 2.0 16v in flash red, with 62k on the clock and only a cloth interior and he was after £9,000.

Not a chance in hell. But I wished him luck as it would only positively affect th values of our cars!

  5. Well I have er.. access to ETKA so getting all that information isn't the problem per se... it's just then going to the dealer, reeling off the list of parts, etc etc etc, being told something is on back order, etc etc... vs just clicking the option that says 'include the clips' on the order for the hoses :)

  6. I was & am really pleased with mine fella :D

you will definitely need the OEM clip for the hose which goes onto the PCV valve but if you are getting stealth to fit them I would imagine Vince will recall what he did with mine.

if not mention "Andy, blackberry VR, head rebuilt twice, polished inlet mani" ;) & that should jog his memory as we spent quite a lot of time together. or say 'the guy whose brought his white valver back after Jon found it on ebay' lol

I would give them a ring & ask if you can use the OE constant tension clips too m8 or if they insist using their jubilee's for their warranty

I can do, but to be honest all my clips and stuff are looking tired / corroded so would be a good time to replace them all really.

  7. I was wondering when a company would actually offer an MSD based coilpack kit for the Corrado, ready to install.. as I had read about the upgrade but wasn't sure if anyone was tackling making them as a complete bundle.

Slightly pricer than I was expecting though!

  8. If you only do limited mileage, I highly reccomend trying out Lynbrook Insurance - my policy is a limited mileage (3,000 per annum) classic policy, mods declared (not that there's many), and no NCB needed or earned (so totally seperate from your normal insurance policy) and I'm paying something ridiculous like £160 for the year. And that includes cover for all kinds of other stuff like non-competetive road rallys, etc etc.

Hands down smashes any of the companies who advertise on here such as Chris Knott - they wouldn't even insure me because I park the car in a seperate garage block, not near my house. Never mind the fact that it's double gated, etc etc! As if lock-up garages are such an alien concept in this country?!
