The Corrado Club have been granted a 6 car club stand at this event:

It's a nice little show occupying a few halls of the NEC, with a wide variety of cars and trade stands selling all sorts of tools and supplies for car restoration as the name suggests.
We've got 3 spaces left and would love to be able to fill the stand with Corrado's. We'll have the club gazebo, we'll have some merchandise, etc so it would be fantastic to be able to fill the space with some cars too.
Only caveat is that the car needs to be dropped off in the halls on Friday and can't be moved again until Sunday evening when the show closes, but if you don't need the car during that time it will be kept an eye on at all times by several of us who will be there and manning the club stand all weekend. The NEC is connected by a quick trip up the line to Birmingham New Street station so getting to and from it is very easy.

There are two belts available - one for cars with air conditioning, and one for cars without. Wonder if your garage or VW have been ordering the 'with air con' part number. The part number for the non-ac is apparently: 037145933C
VW spares (http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_belts.php) list them for £13 so may be worth a punt trying one from them?

I really think it'd be worth taking it in for the opinion of a specialist like Stealth. They can have a listen to the noises and see if they think it's normal, or whether it's worth investigating further and / or taking any corrective action.

Can people please take photos of the magazine pages on their phones and upload so we can see - thanksI understand the desire to see the Corrado in print but... this is why magazines are steadily going out of business. If we want these folks to keep featuring our Corrado's, the least we can do is give them them the few quid to pick up a copy. I've tried my best to buy every magazine in recent years that has featured a Corrado, just to support their efforts.

It's not too much of a horror job to be honest. Stealth I think charge four hours labour at approx £60/hr plus the tappets themselves - you're looking at around £300.
For someone comfortable with the spanners it can be done in a half day easily but it is pretty involved and daunting.

Has it made the noise since the replacement of the headgasket or was it since before that, or has just steadily developed over time? I'd be surprised if anything beyond specifically what was needed to be replaced as part of the job, was actually replaced. Tappets alone would add another £100 to the bill. Of course if they did change the tappets, they could have rebuilt with cheaper tappets, and anything other than INA branded tappets can be a bit of a lottery in terms of when they start getting rattly again.
Like you say, the head should have been completely stripped prior to being skimmed.

would you think this is piston slap?I can try and get some more videos but I do not know how to get the audio better quality as I do not have a good mic.
In the exterior video, I noticed it sounded different as I moved round the car, should I try from all 3 sides, front , left and right wings?
Any idea if the tappets have ever been changed either?

It sounded very different coming out of my TV than it does on my studio grade headphones in the office!

Gotta say it does sound a bit slappy to my ears. Not dissimilar to the sort of noise mine was making when cold. Always hard to tell on videos as phone microphones never seem to pick up the noise properly, and saying it's not as bad when it's been a bit milder in the last few days sort of backs that up.
The interior video seems to reaffirm that to me.

Not sure if it'd be considered a bodge but mine were all white stained and horrible too. I just took em off the car, gave them a good clean and dried them, then gave them a couple of coats of a sort of black plastic type paint. They look great now!

odd that it is opening when locking carI do recall that an alarm fitter once told me that to enable the full closure function on the alarms it is only normally one wire that needs to be connected - not sure how you could get that the wrong way round or somehow connect it up in the opposite way it should be but it sounds along those lines
what happens if you close the door using the key in a 'turn & hold' fashion?
normally this would operate the full closure function from the door lock & close the sunroof & windows if open
if the above functions normally I would say the alarm is not quite wired correctly for the full closure - if not then it points elsewhere
I think this is what you need to try - lock the car, using the key, and hold it turned in the lock position. This activates the Corrado's built in full closure mechanism. If it does open the sunroof, then at this point the problem is with your sunroof motor being out of sync with the actual position of the sunroof mechanism and will need resetting.
I should imagine if you were to close the sunroof to the position you want it, then drop the motor out of the roof but leave it connected (so it can't actually drive anything) then lock the car using the full closure, the motor will reset itself to the position it considers 'correct'. Then you could reinstall the motor back into the roof and should be all good to go?

I run 195's on my Speedlines. I actually prefer how they look as find the 205's quite balloon like when looking at them side by side.
Difference to ride and handling isn't all that significant to be honest. A bit firmer, a bit more likely to under steer if pushing it.. No big deal though.
Worth it for the price saving and wider choice of rubber.

On mine the aux pump is on the whole time the igition is on, but fan has to be actually running with the ignition off, for the aux pump to be running as well. It shuts off when the fan shuts off.
