If you think VW parts prices are high...
Pat_McCrotch replied to OllieVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Yup, about £10 each IIRC. -
I've never been the same since that trip to the Isle of Man with Toad & Dinkus... ...and by that I mean mentally, not physically!

Just a quick update. The car is now all done, just needs to be polished tomorrow :) Not before I've headed to the Tyre Shop tomorrow and got my winter wheels sorted :) Pics tomorrow if I get it cleaned in time.

Standard all the way. If I can't get my fist in the rear arches I ain't interested :porc:

TT wheel caps are allot more intricate to manufacture though (brushed aluminimum effect and about 4 different parts to it.) -
You get what you pay for.

I knew you'd be along soon enough!

Cheap car for V5 conversion - big job?
Pat_McCrotch replied to bristolbaron's topic in General Car Chat
But it will be better on fuel than a VR6. However, 170bhp or 180bhp with a decat if you are lucky and not much lighter. You would be better off converting to OBD2 to be honest. -
Do you notice if your boot unlocks? Whatever door you open is always opened manually, the movement of the rod then triggers the vacuum system. Have you tried locking or unlocking from the passenger side? From what you are describing it could either be a very minor air leak (if it was big the pump would just run on) or a failing pump. I had a really annoying one when I bought the car. The passenger door wouldn't lock with the central locking. Later found out that the dealer that fitted the heater matrix crushed the pipe when they put the dash back in! Therefore creating an air lock and not making the pump run on.

I've got one, but I couldn't possibly let it go for less than £5,000 :) YHPM

Anyone know the best way to get rid of the green LED and keep the red bit? At first I liked it but now I'm finding it so bright that it hurts my eyes! -
Oooh headlamp washers and Recaro's..! :luvlove: Worth buying for a punt, and if it's a heap you'll easily get £500 for the recaros alone

WTF ?? grrrrrrrrrrrrrr - LEGAL ADVISE NEEDED
Pat_McCrotch replied to emu's topic in General Car Chat
Agree on the excess issue. A County Court would say you are being unreasonable if you took it there. Your best best is to level with them, say you will claim for the screen on insurance and do them a favour. Get a quote for the bodywork and again say something along the lines of, "I will get some other bits done at the same time, therefore I have saved you £XX amount here too". If you go in saying, "I want £2000 to fix my car" you will probably get nowhere. -
beige leather pic with black plastics pic please .
Pat_McCrotch replied to robrado974's topic in Interior
We did a full swap on Robs one including headlining so no joy there. That was a long and painful day! I'd do it, sounds like a nice combo :) -
I think that's maybe the issue, too much going on up North and not enough down South recently. Note: Anything past Milton Keynes is generally classed as the North by Southerners

WTF ?? grrrrrrrrrrrrrr - LEGAL ADVISE NEEDED
Pat_McCrotch replied to emu's topic in General Car Chat
:D Sorry to hear about this. I had a similar thing a few years back with my 2 week old Audi A3. Some scrotes where throwing rocks over the estate behind us and one of them landed on my bonnet. It was only luck a family friend was on our driveway at the time and saw the stone fall onto it. Que me driving down there and giving them some ***! There Mum offered to pay for the damage but when she saw the bill for £300 refused and gave a sob story about being on benefits, that she was on holiday from London (in Sudbury! lol) and how if I took her to court I would be lucky to get £5 a month. Without wishing to depress you, it sounds like you are dealing with similar pondlife.
