  1. I sent my headrest to them to colour match Rob. Perfect match on that as its not an area that really gets Sun bleached or worn. I did two sponge base coats as recommended on the entire lot. Not at all noticeable once a couple of coats from the gun are applied though. I also went for satin effect lacquer in the end, although most recommend Matt for closest factory finish. I did a mk4 Golf handbrake handle too from grey and that took a fair few coats. I didn't use it in the end though.
  2. Let us know which size clamps go where and how many are required for a full set Jim, and how you get on with the tool. It's something I'm sure a lot of us have thought about to freshen things up!
  3. Alright Rob, not much to report with the car yet, although there should be some progress this week hopefully. I did the interior with the cans. I didn't find it difficult at all. I had the extra large kit so changed cans with over 1/3 left in each though. As long as you keep the gun nozzle clean, you'll achieve a good finish. The gun itself is easy to use and comfortable, and like any gun, as long as you set up and test prior to beginning, you can get a good spray pattern. The only downside is the size of the paint canister. It only holds about 50ml, and goes pretty quickly. Bit of a faff topping it up so often, but not a major problem. The guides on the furniture clinic site are pretty good so I'd suggest watching one of those before you start. If you don't want to get an overly large kit, I'm sure you can pick up some compressed air cans from a hobby shop or something if you need more.
  4. Bottom left - Volvo something or other?........
  5. Seriously, watch them every step and if needed, refit your old surround/trim. There have been loads of reports recently of people with major rust damage and/or water ingress from poorly fitted screens. They get too forceful when fitting it and damage the paint behind the sealant, this then corrodes very quickly!
  6. As above, and if it's not a daily driver you can get a limited mileage classic policy too. Have a look in the insurance section for a list of a few of the regular insurance and brokerage firms that most tend to use.
  7. Welcome to the forum! Truth be told, you'll always wish you had a G60 if you went for the 16v. A little disappointing in the performance area tbh. Problem you have there is, you'll probably need to bold a little back for things on the G60 too. Unless you have a healthy budget, you've got to bear in mind that as a 20 + year old car, it's gonna need things doing. Why not a VR6? Same money pretty much as a G60 but more choice and less outlay in the long or even short term too.
  8. Cool beans! Urggh, 959 - the ugly duckling..........
  9. Yeah it's not connected Rog, it usually follows the oil pressure sender wires and just hangs loose at the guide part. Mines just tucked back in on itself and out of the way.
  10. Yeah it does, love it it seems so blase about it! If I was was at 140, I'd be bricking it and do more than just slow down a bit!
  11. They're a bitch to get in and onto the clips in the tight spaces though! The tool isn't cheap either that's the problem.
  12. Good work and good vid. Love how your quicker cornering than a 4wd Scooby! :thumbleft:

    Door Seals

Yeah that's right, as I said available from VW Heritage at £70 odd per side though.

    Door Seals

The inner aperture seal if that's what you mean is available from VW Heritage. Not cheap though! There are alternatives which are cheaper, but they're not exact and leave a small gap where it should overlap the rear cards. If it's the outer curved trim seal though, I've not been able to find new replacements. I was lucky enough to find a second hand one in good order though which is good as the original split when trying to remove it.
  15. Interested in b pillar trims and all the clips if your splitting. Also parcel shelf if courier could be arranged?
  16. I did think that too, but assumed you'd either moved it on or wanted to keep it together. :bonk: I'd get new seals for it though mate, quite a common area for leakage and you'll probably see the state of them when they're removed.
  17. If you hang fire for a few days Rog, I'm pretty sure I have one on the spare lump that you can have. I'll pop in the car club in the week and grab it for you if you like?
  18. Physically the same, but the thread pitch on the banjo is a different size. 1mm for mk 4, 1.5mm for mk3 iirc.
  19. Someone once said to me buy land, they don't make it anymore!
  20. The 288s JUST fit under the standard 15" wheels. Have a look in the wiki section on the brake upgrade thread, it'll tell you exactly what you need.
  21. They're around the £8 mark for 1.5 litres. Usually two bottles diluted is sufficient for temps in the UK.
  22. 8.2 litres or 8.6 with a/c according to the handbook.
  23. So want these, alas a new daily, a holiday, and a respray have wiped me out for a good while yet! :(
  24. Daves16v does the brackets Rog, have a look in the suppliers forum for the thread. My crack pipe did exactly that when I removed it too. I got one from vdubmachine for a tenner in the end. As mentioned, give the whole a Damn good rub down and a light smearing of grease before refitting.
  25. It's labour charge that costs the money. The bearing itself is a little over a tenner, but it's a gearbox off job so likely to be around £150 I reckon.
