  1. No it was in Fareham town Centre. That wasn't a bargain, it wasn't priced and I thought 20m of 30lb line won't be more than about £6. Nope, £13.99!
  2. Interior out this lunch time. Carpets are still in with mats but I'll probably whip them out too. Got a few little ebay bargain bits over the last couple of days. Uncracked drivers fog for £30, abs pump with pipes, servo, MC, etc for £30, 3 sheets of beige a4 felt to line the interior joining parts for £2.10, a new set of wheel bolts for £18, and new BBS centre caps for £12. Wheels are done now and being collected tomorrow, and I'm almost there with stripping everything from the car. Got some 30lb fishing line today to get the rear badges off, with just sunroof and door handles to go. I've got some carpro cquartz and dlux to treat the wheels, plastics and paint, so I'll make a start on the plastics when it's off for paint. Gonna concentrate on getting the abs sorted, and changing the front brakes to the 288mm setup I got from Harrier last week. I'll give the underside a good going over with thinners of all the oil and grease that's accumulated over the years too. Quite excited for the end result. :smug:
  3. I agree. I feel a bit frustrated for some reason that it's come to this. The car deserves an owner for the long term that will pamper it as much as Chris did, and not be passed from one person to another in short order.
  4. Got to admit, I looked at the glass and saw it wasn't broken, and didn't even acknowledge it was missing the surround! Really need to pay more attention sometimes! :bonk:
  5. Bugger off James, I'm not the bloody oracle! But yes, the 280 mm calipers on the vr6 are exactly the same as the G60 ones and are a direct swap. G60 disks will be required obviously to retain the 4x100 stud pattern. A good used set of vr calipers with a reputable new set of dials and pads will set you back about £140-£150, so with fitting at most independent garages at £40 per hour, £200 seems about right. That figure should be a lot less for a simple disk and pad change though. An hour labour tops and less than £100 for good quality parts.
  6. Congrats Nick, Look forward to seeing the future plans which will ensure many more trophies I'm sure! :thumbleft:
  7. I'd be happy to pay in full or pay a deposit once final price/numbers are confirmed Emma. It's usual for the group buy OP to pay out initially with this type of order delivered to a single address, but I wouldn't want to be in that position so I'd be happy to pay upfront.
  8. I know what you mean. I've just completely removed mine now and it looks naked without it!
  9. I'm still interested if you could organise it Em. Good on you! :thumbleft:
  10. Just bought an abs pump off a polish guy call Wojtek. Sounds familiar and think he may even be on here. He's text me a couple of times and seems a good bloke, although I'll wait until I receive it and it's been fitted before fully commuting to that statement. Tbf the Polish chaps on this forum all seem like good honest people, and it's there perogative what they charge. People are obviously buying stuff and he can probably make far more shipping it and selling over here. I'm sure that's what the majority would do if they knew the market elsewhere.
  11. It's the Rx228s Jim. Caps are a last resort, I think they'd be too obvious with the wheels, although I'd be happy to be proved wrong! Ian, thanks mate appreciate it! :thumbleft:
  12. To bump this thread, I'm after a full set of standard wheel bolts as my current rusty ones will stick out like a sore thumb with freshly refurb'd wheels and new centre caps. Vw and some of the alloy wheel specialists online want around £3.50 each! I'm loath to pay £70 for a set of bolts, so if anyone can suggest an alternative I'd be very grateful! Thanks all.
  13. Tut tut, forum rules state it must be on the thread. Not your fault but fair enough. Cheers.
  14. Ok thanks Rob, I'll take everything out then I think!
  15. Actually, the missus is now loaded, I'm back to being skint again!
  16. I didn't buy them James! Wish I could afford to though!
  17. Yeah apart from seats Rob. Roof lining, pillars and door cards need to come out for access to Windows, mirrors, sunroof etc. I rushed it in for national day anyway tbh, and I wanted it back out as I have some felt to line the joining parts. I'm a dab hand at it now, it's been in and out so many times!
  18. Congrats on the quick sale Daren! Well worth the money too!
  19. Thanks Rob. Funnily enough, yes my scuttle has been bonded down in the past! I'll get a set ordered now for when I fit the scuttle back after paint. Cheers mate!
  20. Sorry Sean I've just Seen the post. Nylon coating is just a harder wearing powder. I'd recommend it for underbody bits as it'll resist the chipping and light scratching you'd normally get under there, which with paint or standard powdercoating will still allow rust to form and rot from inside out. It's a little more expensive than normal powder, but worth it imo. It's not available in as many colours as standard either, but that shouldn't make a difference if it's only standard black you want.
  21. Thought my ears were burning James you cheeky chappy! Tbh, I don't think I've ever seen those clips so I've no idea what they're for! They do look like the ones that spread the legs when you insert the pin though. Not sure where the lips sits tbh........
  22. Not worth it mate. You won't feel any difference at all anyway in 90% of driving conditions.
