  1. What the %$$£%&^$£ am I going to do. My car sounds awful and I think its getting worse. Don't think an extractor can be used. Can I send it away exchange in its current state? HELP Any one bored and want to work on my car in there spare time??
  2. This sound worse than I thought!!!!!!!  The one that I know is broke is inside the head so no chance of geting any mole grips on it! F%&k!!! oh no!!
  3. I should first say that I'm a novice when it comes to working on my car. My exhaust manifold is blowing so being a poor student I decided to takle this job my self. Not an easy job to say the least! So I removed everything that needs to be removed to get to the exhaust manifold. Except the inlet manifold, one rounded bolt left. But one of the double sided bolts that are screwed into the head, and then the exhaust manifold screwed onto the other side had snaped at some time. So I have one of these stuck in my head and the others will probebly do the same when they are removed! So what do I do? I think that I need to remove the engine so that these bolts can be removed/drilled. But would I be better off exchanging my head for a new one maybe ported/polished gas flowed? I defenitly carn't afford to have this work done profesionaly as it would cost me loads in labour. I have a mate who has a fair amount of experience as a mechanic who is willing to help. I also have access to a lockup with pit and winch. But its going to be a tall order to remove and drill my engine!!!
  4. I've got a blowing exhaust manifold. Got a replacement and all the gaskets, etc. But I've tryed to fit it and I carn't do it. I'm not hugely mechanical! I tryed to take the injection manifold off but carnt get good access to the bolts on the back of it. Is there a trick to this? P.S. Its a Golf G60 but its the same manifold and I reckon the access is about the same.
  5. I'm from Angelsey but living in Oswestry which is near Wrexham!! Moveing to Leeds in a couple of weeks though!!!
  6. I'll own up to the tent!! It is just about biger enough to fit my car in!! I hadn't even put the side rooms up at taton park. Another bonus with it is that it makes the back end on my motor sit lower when its in the boot! I bought it for inters, had a bit of a party in it!! Look out for it at other shows.
  7. Cheers for sorting it GazzaG60, quite a good day execpt for the weather! Sorry I didn't have time to be more social with other forum members, but I was entertaining! What a place to drag a new bird off to, on your first date! :D :D :D There wasn't that many great cars there, well not as many as ussual. There was no tunners demo cars. Dubsport for one where missing (unless I missed them) :? . My favourite car was The red 8v Mk2, BBS RS's, very shiney!! I've seen it many times before but this time it was extra imaculate! What was everyone elses favourite car at the show?
  8. jims16v, Nice one!!!! At last :D :D
  9. Sorted HENNY, GAZZAG60!!! Just spoke to mate who's G40 is going to be on the G40 club stand. He doesn't take it to many shows but it has to be one of, if not the fastest in UK!!! Its engine is a must see and hear!!!! HENNY I'll check my pm's at about 8pm Sat. So let me know how its going!
  10. Irish edd G60, Alright Edd? only just noticed your post! Its got old Jabba chip and either 68/70mm pulley, giro valve, full supersprint system, samco hoseing, few shinney bits :D , and thats it for now. I have done 145mph in it and it still had a bit left :D :D !!! Maybe it would go 155mph?!?! My spedo is actually quite spot on....I have checked it with my dads GPS but only been up to 80mph with GPS in car. I have a 65mm pulley ready to fit but am waiting untill I get my charger done to stage 4. I also want to change my chip for a SNS one. The jabba chip makes it spit fire if you lift off at around 4000rpm!! Also got rid of cone filter which came fitted to it for a standard moded air box. Edd got any more pictures of your motor? Get them aftermarket 17" off it!! Get back to your BBS splits, there a must on Mk2 G60's!!!!!!!!!!!! You got chip&pulley.
  11. HENNY!! You want to meet on A483/M56? I'll be comeing in convoy with couple of other cars. It may make it easyier for us to meet GAZZAG60 at the garage if we are already together. So GAZZAG60 the garage is somewhere around where the arrow is pointing, on the map a few posts above?
  12. Click to enlarge!! Maybe Admin can fix it so its always full size??
  13. This map shows tatton park entrance. Also the road which the garage that we have aranged to meet at is on. Its the one high-lighted with an arrow pointing at it.:D This right GAZZAG60??
  14. So Gaz its 8:30 at the garage on the A5034?? Sounds okay to me bit early for a Sunday, :D :D. The things we do for dubs!! :D :D I'll see you at the garage then? If I carn't find it I'll ring you, cheers.
  15. I've got Lumention leads. I reckon that there pritty good. Lumenition also make entire ingnition systems so they must know what there doing. Got them from demon tweaks for about £55. They also look pritty good!! :D
  16. GazzaG60, The street map link doesn't work properly. The map isn't showing unless you zoom in to the next scale. Not sure if thats still where you mean? I will be trying to meet you before 8:30am to get passes. If I carn't find the garage on the A5034 straight away I'll phone you for directions. But I'll check it on auto-route and should be able to sort it.
  17. Nice one Gazza!!, Its to late to post them to me. So I'll meet before hand if thats okay? I'll keep an eye on this thread for meeting arangments. I'll pm you my mobile aswell just in case. Cheers!!!

    Coilovers

HENNY has got them. He got his from Venom motorsport. Says there good, I'm going to get some my self!! AAIGHT, Which ones did you get? They do zinc coated and stainless steel jobyes.
  20. I have a Jabba sport chip on my car fitted before I got it. When the timeing was set to standard(vw recomended) it behaved in a similar way. All I know is that my timing is now set way off what VW recomended. Sorry I'm not that technical, but I think it was retarded from standard rather than advanced but not absoultly certain. I didn't think chips where suposed to affect timing though??
  21. Top Tip! You can also use caliper paint to paint parts of your engine!
  22. cheesy, I recon your right about getting the head skimmed. If its a aluminum head that is usually the case. I know 8v have aluminum heads but not sure about 16v's. The problem is that when you skim a head you mess with the compresion or something!? As the area inside the head becomes slightly smaller. This can be counter acted buy fitting a thicker head gasket. Such as a metal performance one.
  23. PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THIS POST!! That would be a terrible course of action. One of the reasons that forums are so good is that people aren't afraid to inform people of there experiances with tunners and after market parts. Unlike magazines who have to be constantly aware of afending advertisers who are responsible for a large amount of there income! If a company that buys two pages of advertising space every mounth in PVW or the Golf has left somebody unhappy the magazines arent going to shout about it! Its a bit like when I posted a qestion asking if Raceland coilovers where any good. People replyed saying they where crap! Those replys where not deleted. Saying there crap is libel. But giveing FACTUAL details of why there inferior isnt, as that would be FACT. (If something is true it is not libel however damageing) I'm sure if I sent a letter to one of the well known magazines they would not print a reply saying that they where crap even if they where! Thats my rant over! Sorry but this is a problem that I think plagues the VW press. They are influensed by there advertisers!
  24. woody, There is also pitstop development who have a good reputation amoungst G40 owners. I plan to get mine done there soon. They are also one of the cheapest!
  25. Don't know about on a Corrado! Leaky sunroofs of sciroccos cause pudles in back foot well. On the new passat, if a drain hole in the cowling(bulk head shelf, where ecu is) is blocked water some how drains to the rear foot well on the drives side! (happened to my old man) I think what jim says is the most likely as that aplies to pritty much all the VW range.
