  1. Fortunatly there was no internal engine damage present. As for the cost I havn't been in to pay the bill yet. I think that it may be about £300 or there abouts. They had a few problems setting the timeing as it was not what VW say. This is either the Jabba sport chip or it may have had a high lift cam fitted at some point. I will get some pictures of the damaged parts onto this post next week which would be a fitting end to this story. Picture of Bolt and small bottom pully chewed a bit.
  2. Emergency over!!!!!! Its back on the road and runing sweet!!!!!!!!
  3. Cheers for the info on the Scirocco 16v. I have never seen one in the flesh. But I only go to Taton park and North Wales all types shows! But I'm going to international this year so maybe I will see one there. Campaign, Is your Corrado Campaign going to be at GTI international this year? I meant gear knob! So you where resposible for "jez's scirocco page"! Great!! What do you mean I was impressed last time??
  4. There from the UK then? I thought that they where american!
  5. dazzyvr6, I think there's also somebody on here with a G60 who is from Wrexham. 8vg60, Cheers for geting back to me! I am very intrested in geting a ported& polished head off you. The garage are a bit behind so I'll ring you this evening if they have managed to asses my head by then. I've been checking them Pirreli's, one seems to have a little dent on the rim. I doesn't look major and I think that its okay. But I will get it checked out at a garage. Apart from that there pritty mint.
  6. They must be custom made job's. The blue ones cool. They could even be dragsters!!
  7. 8vg60, I'm in Oswestry, Shropshire! I'm thinking if the valves are knackerd then I may as well spend a bit extra and get a TSR ported, polished and gas flowed head. Is this a good idea, as I want to run a reliable car? I am thinking of geting standard air box, pulley and chip back on because I don't know anything about where and who fitted them! The chip I think is Jabba sport's from around 1999. As for the pulley I have know idea. The pipper cross air filter makes a horrid noise!! Anyone got any sugestions or ideas for things to do while the engines in pieces, and the check book's open!!!
  8. I found these on a english split rim manufactures site.
  9. Cheers steveo29, so do I!!! G60Jet, I hope that it doesn't have even more internal damage than predicted. The bolt sent by VW today was the wrong one so I will have to wait till tomorrow to find out. I have spoken on the phone to Dubsport and Jabbasport, who both say that this is a common problem. If I try to look on the bright side. It is an oportunity to clean the whole engine and re-enamel it. I would also, If I can find the extra money like to fit a cam kit or a vernier puley, etc! I will probebly not find any extra money but I carn't help looking at them in the catalogs! So check your bolts condition! You can see it from the wheel arch.
  10. Some of you may already know this but it is going to cost me a fortune. Yesterday evening the bolt holding the bottom pully to the crank snaped!!! This could mean nackerd crank, pulley and possibly valves in the head! This could possibly be avoided by odering a new bolt from VW as they have increased the tensil strengh of this now. If I had replaced this bolt for a minimal amount it would have saved me what could come up to almost a grand maybe. More than a new charger!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have only had the car for two fucking DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any one got any advice or know of a cause for this let me know.
  11. I'm sure that there will be people desperate for mk1 body pannels. A y is a mk1, I think, isn't it?
  12. I've heard that Mobil 1 help to keep the temerature a bit lower on G60's.
  13. Is that it!!!!! No other ex-Sirocco owners?
  14. BEAT YOU ALL TO IT, check out earlyier post "SCIROCCO"S!"
  15. G60ING, Great a Mk1 Scirocco, cool! It looks in realy good condition to. So its been supercharged aswell? ISN'T THIS A GREAT POST! ha, ha! Scirocco's! Its making want to get my STORM back of my mate.
  16. iceman, I just noticed that your in the US. 16v sirocco's maybe more poular there?
  17. iceman, A 16v, is it a factory 16v? I heard that there where only a dozen? I would luv to check that out at a show this summer. Is it red with black standard zender kit? GazzaG60, If your moding a Scirocco I would definetly go for removing the black ruber strip. I saw a nice black one one the motorway with it done, it looked really smooth. My friend is just about to change his green GT11, leather, white indicators, badgless grille, grille spoiler, BBS for a Corrado G60. His is one of the cleanest VW's used everyday that I have ever seen! His lucky brother is geting the Scirocco passed on to him. Campaign, Are you the author of "jez's scirocco page"? That sight is were after buying my storm for £900, I discovered its true value and rarity. The only thing that my STORM didn't have was the leather steering wheel. It had the leather gear nobe, though!
  18. GAZZAG60, good to see somebody keeping it going! I had:- Scirocco STORM (B reg) Havana Brown, Tan Leather, Janspeed backbox, Pannel filter, power rore?!, uprated discs+pads(dodgy brakes!), Grille Spoiler, 16" smith ? alloys. I saw this car when I was 16 in a local car park. Then later when I was 17 I bought the very same one from this old guy who had, had it years. I bought the car even before I passed my test. The first time I drove it after passing my test I couldn't help wheel spining by accident everywhere! I then kept the car untill it was stolen when I was 22 years old, I had it five years. It was left in a ploughed field on its chasis by the thefing gits! The car is now with a friend who is planning to keep it going(170,000)! If it hadn't been stolen I would probebly still be driving it. I would have definetly sorted out the handling and got some rear calipers, though!
  19. I just wondered how many Corrado owners have previously owned a good old Scirocco!
  20. I had a similar problem on a Scirocco. It was a tiny little rattle. It usally stoped when I toped up the water level. I thought that it may have been something to do with the thermastat opening and closeing. Not sure about that but give it a try!
  21. When you say Passat handles. What years?
  22. 1984 Scirocco STORM :D (Havana Brown) had this for 4yrs!(Ace car! and my first at 17)........STOLEN!!!.........Bastards. y Reg Polo 1 litre Ha, HA :? (had this while work done on Scirocco, it lasted two weeks before engine death!) M reg Cagiva Mito Evolution :? (motorbike) Crap, but could park anywhere! (1 yr only) From very soon G60 (Cash Waiting?) :D
  23. Does anyone no what colour this is?
  24. In one of the leters in Golf magazine this mounth. The guy from C&R talkes about a lot to about problems with 16V starting. I think he said something about starting 16v's when there warm can cause problems because oil vapour catches before the petrol does. It may not be related to your problems but worth checking out.
  25. How much do BBS RM's go for?
