back in a corrado (vrt time!)

Recommended Posts

Well I never did put them pics up just as good well seeing photobucket screwed us over

Basically got the car running made the rest of the exhaust fitted some Leon cupra r 4 pot brembos

Made my way down to stealth and it made 396 bhp 341 ftlb after being mapped

Since then I bought a valver with some cloth recaros off ebay which I swapped seats with the leather in mine, I bought the valver without viewing and thought I'd end up selling it on after swapping the seats but it felt like a good un on the drive home so I intended to keep it as a daily to replace the Micra I currently use my wife drove it and wanted it so she now uses it as a daily and I'm still stuck in the Micra!

Ran it for a year to try iron any niggles out and I've now taken it off the road to overhaul the underside and address any rust issues few pics of where I'm up to 077efd32170b5d38ad5cb3f272ba5835.jpg34995b2599262ffbb97e2246a608100a.jpge5c93350755bd38c811bcab3c5742bd2.jpgf2c272a53c35013e5e54e3541e7d9d2e.jpg7502071c45d2199310de50f3b8a9bec6.jpg187de4ad5e5010fda2bc8425fe6f4ae1.jpg83840176822ec18e724f8cf2dafa455e.jpgf9b4a9a06d429f5d9c5f198e3a08e8f0.jpg13c73101d9302959c44a3eb0be09f304.jpg

Good work, i like to see them repaired instead of giving up.

Had the same repair on mine bit i didn't replace that little lip bit, just left it off so dirt doesn't get trapped there.

Cheers, I also thought about doing that but decided I'll just keep an eye on it make sure it doesn't fill up with crap

Quite an awkward bit to do though isn't it also surprising how far the rust creeps under the underseal

Cheers

Been slowly chipping away at it but had a few problems arise with the wife's valver but sorted them plus got some coilovers for her and rolled her arches it's now running my old borbets that were on my 1.8t many moons ago

With mine the engine is now out and I have been on with tidying the gearbox and ancillarys and giving them a lick of paint along with the block, all the wire wheeling seems to have taken an age but the end result seems worth it!

I have also just invested in a compressor as I'm going to give mine a full respray and colour change and sort some bits on the wife's as I simply can't afford the prices bodyshops now charge surely it can't be that hard!! 1e6705d875e63886f88ea229edac2def.jpgf684cfa7b089b8824c056c93f3fce09d.jpg2d5ec086e68573550981c53a653eacd6.jpg1c86a264968d491964e26b3a4b4170ac.jpgec90606bad20d971bdfb77fc73c0b403.jpg

Had a go at spraying practised on the wife's bumpers as they had a few scrapes from before I bought it think they turned out ok so now stripping everything else from the bay on mine to start it's respray gpj47k36.jpgof8dmy4h.jpg9fs3yr98.jpgf3iy2yri.jpg

They look slightly more purple than the original paint don't know if this is due to the original paints age or who I got the paint from either way they look 100 times better than before

Tell you what - if you’ve not done much spraying before, well done that’s a good looking result

Cheers fla mines going to be a bit less oe looking than Giles when it's done

Tell you what - if you’ve not done much spraying before, well done that’s a good looking result

Cheers quite chuffed with how it's turned out and only used cans before to spray small parts first real time with a compressor and gun

Top job, I wish my spraying would come out like that instead of needing hours of flatting

Cheers these pics are after a good flat and polish though, think orange peel is inevitable with a home respray I'm not looking forward to doing it on my full car once it's done!

So been busy stripping the bay in mine getting ready for paint getting the old wax off was a nightmare but it had done it's job as there was only a couple of bits of surface rust

Prepping before paint seems to have taken a age and hammered my fingers as all the books and crannys needed to be sanded by hand and last thing I want is to put the motor back in and it all start flaking off/ crazing

I've ended up going for khaki green pearl and I'm well happy with that choice now the first bit of paint is down this is straight out of the gun still needs a polish and sorry for sideways pics the app I'm using to upload pics seems to do this sometimes

So not posted for a bit but been busy with the car still got engine back in with everything painted brackets abs unit etc etc rewrapped the loom new brake lines

Then I have been on with painting the rest of the car got stuck on the main body of it as kept getting reactions in the paint but I'm getting there now just the boot doors and bumpers left to do and reassemble then back on the road easy peasy lol hopefully get some use before they start salting the roads

Cheers and a app called direct upload image sharer, you go to the gallery on your phone share the image with the app then select forum bb code image and it puts the img code on your clipboard you then just select them to post, I'm sure I have made it sound harder than it actually is
