some distressing news... the car won't be ready for this saturday... :( the bits won't be back from powder coating in time... so it seems that i'll have to wait another week!

Yey! update time!

 

Hi Kris,

sorry for the lack of updates, not much been going on but waiting for parts.

 

Thermostat housings are on back order with VW..... think we've cleaned them out!

 

Head is now stripped down, top pad cracked, top chain tensioner is right on the rivets, bores look good, compression issue looks like it is the exhaust valve seat, clutch has been wearing the g-box casing, head gasket looks like lack of G 12........

 

More tomorrow :)

Looks like it's in the ICU.....the intensive Corrado unit :lol: . I'm looking forward to seeing some picks of the car being put back together. Hope all goes OK from now on.

I don't want to anyway... cos with all that is wrong with my car, it's still puttin more power on the road than urs, even with that extra 10 BHP from the flywheel that u have! :tongue:

Had a quick work with crazydave...

 

VW can't specify when the stat housing will arrive... :scratch: i hate dealers!

and apparantly they don't do the rear top mounts anymore! sigh... thats a pain... Dave's gonna check the state of the original top mounts to see how they are... if they need replacing, gonna have to source alternate parts...

 

I'm also told that the bores are very good for the age of the car and that it'll run sweet when the engine work is done! :)
