took out the rear windows, easy enough

IMG_1415.jpg

IMG_1419.jpg

found some rust on the passenger side, its not too bad

IMG_1416.jpg

sorted the rust then striped it all back to bear metal and primed it with acid 8

IMG_1446.jpg

IMG_1447.jpg

next job, sort out the rear pannel

IMG_1440.jpg

IMG_1443.jpg

IMG_1444.jpg

IMG_1445.jpg

when i have the pannel welded back in i am going to cut the whole bottom off the rear pannel and put a new piece in.

little bit messy, been doing some sandblasting

IMG_1448.jpg

mostly around the rear to clean up all the seams

just a small update before i go away for the weekend.

got the panel welded in

IMG_1470.jpg

and then i did this

IMG_1486.jpg

than i went completely made and cut some more out. (the red smudge is my blood)

IMG_1487.jpg

starting to put it back together

IMG_1490.jpg

nearly there. (the brown stuff is smoke from the welder)

IMG_1493.jpg

welded up the gaps in the panels

IMG_1496.jpg

IMG_1499.jpg

all done, dont worry in this pic i hadnt finished cleaning up the bottom so thats why theres snots along the bottom edge.

IMG_1500.jpg

there was a pretty big dent in the rear quarter and i couldn't get it from inside so out it came.

IMG_1471.jpg

IMG_1473.jpg

beat it into shape and popped it back in

IMG_1485.jpg

the inside is pretty much there just need to give the whole thing a sand and throw on some primer.

IMG_1516.jpg

IMG_1517.jpg

its so close to going to the body shop.

cant wait

i have to sort out the mounting of the intercooler and oil cooler before it goes to paint so i had a look at it tonight. im fairly happy with the position and the pipe work is as good as its going to get. have a look and see what you think. opinions welcome.

the pipe will be alloy and im getting it tig welded to the intercooler

IMG_1544.jpg

IMG_1545.jpg

IMG_1546.jpg

the pipe work is going to be 3" to 2.5" reducer from my throttle body. from there to the turbo will be 2.5".

Awesome work, great determination and its good to see a 'rado being rebuilt this way as most of them are starting to need it now :(

Even more encouraging given your age, you thinking about going into restoration work?

Awesome I love it!

Colour should be stunning. I have always wanted a metallic black rado with an ever so slight red tint in it.

I have to ask tho can you post a pic of yourself next picture set. Dont worry Im not going a little fruity

Just cant believe your not actually a 65 year old bearded classic car restorer called Bernard from Wolverhampton
