Abdul 0 Posted July 28, 2010 Looking Good! 8) should start a new thread, the 16v should have it own identity! I did think of that but then the valvers thread would end up getting lost sooner or later! This way it'll always be here! Thanks for the kind comments... Whats happening with your G man? I still aint seen it!! glad youve got it back mate ,,but thats a massive first bill :pale: hope you have better look with it from now on :D my bonnet looks the same as urs thats why it nearly always has the bra on., just get some yellow lamin x and some 16"splits ,,then we could be twins  Bro, the bill has murdered me lol. Like im screwed for now lol, i definately need better luck. I did think of getting a bra but i really cant get myself round to them! I might get some clear laminx to protect the lights, did consider smoke but i want to keep the car looking classy to some extent! I would like some single piece 17s (no way can i afford splits, paint first lol). My rado can be yours younger sibling lol. You've got the storm interior too right? Majik 0 Posted July 28, 2010 Thanks for the kind comments... Whats happening with your G man? I still aint seen it!! nothing i dont get the time to work on it, too busy with work and family. Did you get a break down for the bill, it seems a bit excessive for the work you mentioned even if they did make the brake pipes and stuff, engine rebuilds normally would come to that amount of monies.
zak 0 Posted July 28, 2010 Shame about the bill. Bodywork looks stright, perfect base to detail. Touch up stick, wet sand and polish will sort the bonnet out!

Did you get a break down for the bill, it seems a bit excessive for the work you mentioned even if they did make the brake pipes and stuff, engine rebuilds normally would come to that amount of monies. Shame about the G man, get it back on the road! N yup ive got a full breakdown, honestly i questioned it alot aswell as its a large sum of money but it all added up tbh. I called a local Vw specialist and asked for a quote for the same work and was told 1400 give or take a couple hundred lol so i figured i did alright. These lot deal with all sorts of cars but tend to do rebuilds on luxury motors; astons n the like and tbh their work aint cheap but at the same time i feel confident leavin my car there knowin they'll look after it. They did some random tidyin in the bay for me 2 for free without me even askin which was nice lol. When i pick up that bloody report ill update with everything that was done, ive slept 2 hours in the last 2 days, im not really with it right now lol. Shame about the bill. Bodywork looks stright, perfect base to detail. Touch up stick, wet sand and polish will sort the bonnet out! Hey Zak, the body is pretty straight, its got 2 small presure dinks on the doors along the swage lines so i dont know if they can be pulled? It has also got some rust on the front two arches but its just surface. Ill be honest, the factory paint finish is really really good, looks lovely right now but up close has tonnes of defects. Not sure if i have the balls for the wet sanding but if it flops it just means ill have to respray it which i want to do sooner rather than later anyway. Im not sure where the best place to get some touch up paint mixed up would be? Ive got some halfords touch up stuff and its the same colour as my bumper which has more purple pearl than red! 20vtvw 0 Posted July 28, 2010 id also like to know were to get a good touch up stick :D for mine,,will do for a temp fix..
Abdul 0 Posted July 29, 2010 Well i got halfords to mix a bit up for a tenner, i tried it on one chip today and tbh while the match isnt perfect its far from terrible... Ill get pics up over the weekend as i gradually fill more!

If its stonechipped to feckery I'd be trying my hardest to get a perfect match, its going to look worse imo if you've got a load of slightly different coloured spots peppering it. My £0.02 I stupidly took my VR to VW for its first service. Ouch.
n3p 3 Posted July 29, 2010 £1100! Jonny777 0 Posted July 29, 2010 I got the front end and my bootlid done for 380 quid. Bonnet, bumper, both wings and tailgate. So you can get decent prices and a decent job, just have to be on the look out or get to know people. :) Rado's fine, just fancy some different wheels i think, again.

Goldie 2 Posted July 30, 2010 I'm told it's off a mk2 Golf :) It most certainly is a Mk2 item... Nice VR btw, im very fond of the colour...
Henny 0 Posted July 30, 2010 actually, it's not off a golf, 'cos the bulb icon would be the other way around (the switches mount portrait, not landscape in a golf).... it'll be out of a Passat which had similar switchgear, but mounted landscape as they are in a Corrado... mode>
Abdul 0 Posted July 30, 2010 LOLZ that was quite amusing. Henny, wtf dude, why would u know that the bulb icon goes the other way round in a mk2? lol I was driving back from west london last night and finaly got to open the vr up a bit. Im not going to lie, once it gets going it goes but i think ill be needing more soonish  I think the linear power delivery doesn't help things as its so smooth, never really feels quick despite showing silly numbers on the speedo! 2nd and 3rd are fun i must say! :luvlove:
Henny 0 Posted August 2, 2010 Henny, wtf dude, why would u know that the bulb icon goes the other way round in a mk2? lol I had a MKII with the wrong switch in it, and it bugged me once I noticed that it was wrong enough that I replaced it with a correct one, but was intrigued enough to find out WTF the switch with the wrong symbol was out of by looking up the part number.... :ubergeek:

On a seperate note, i begun touching up the paint and wet sanded and somehow managed to mess it up a bit i think, ill try and save it tommorow though lol. If not, im sending it off for paint mid august, i cannot stand shoddy paintwork!
