N333PPP Turbocharged Storm

Recommended Posts

Another little update on the car.

Firstly, thanks for all the nice comments.

I went on a 900 mile four day tour of the North Coast 500 (We added in some other good driving roads). The car performed brilliantly, a few days before it I did however change the temp sensors for the fan. Had an issue with the brown one, VW heritage send one out that requires a different type of connector. I still have not sorted that out.

Anyway, after the 500 I decided to remove the rear lights and go back to standard. I also fitted a Spoonfed rear spoiler, and finally I removed the LMs and fitted a set of Nothelles. They took about 6 months to source but I think they were worth the wait. Manged to find a set of 5x100 ET35.

VRTRIZZ Yes we spoke last year at Glamis, you going again this year? Still got that massive turbo bolted to your car?

I will attach some pictures of the car a week before the NC500 trip at a local VW meet, RETRO VW SCOTLAND. And I will also attach some pictures of the car as it stands now on the Nothelles.

I posted on a FB page at the beginning of the year that I was looking for some, then just a few weeks ago I got a message from Poland, and the deal was done.

I'm not sure about the what the brown sensor is for-all I know is that the one supplied didn't fit.

The LMs aren't for sale yet

I love this car. Not sure on the Nothelles tbh. I saw the ones on Goldies car and they looked superb, but I'm not sure it works so well with the colour......... Just my opinion mate.

The LMs are my favourite wheel on a Corrado tbf, but I understand you want to put you mark on the car. :thumbleft:

I don't post on here much now that I'm Corradoless but this car with the Nothelles is stunning. I've never been a big fan of Classic Green (although I had a 16v in CG) but when the paintwork is this good it does look cracking.

Jamie_300. I will take some pictures of the spoiler in the coming days.

1xshaunx1 perfect, I will check out the cooling guide, theres something not right with the cooling. I never have any issues, but the car can get pretty hot when dotting around in traffic. Also from time to time on a cold start the water temp warning light will flash immediately and stay on. sometimes switching the car off then on again will solve this.

SeanL they are a marmite wheel at the best of time, im really just looking for something that's easier to clean, but still has a little bit of rareness about them. I did like the CHs that were originally on the car but they were far too wide. The LMs are great, but constanly need cleaned and the lips need polished at every wash.

Daves16v, Classic green is an awful colour to make stand out. In the sunlight, not every panel looks green, and in poor light its near impossible to say what colour the car is. I machine polished the paint on this car and it certainly has helped, still needs painting though. The classic green on SeanLs car looked great compared to mine at VW Festival last year. After I machine polished mine the colour really did shine through. I was parked next to an excellent example of a green storm recently and my paint really stood out. I think its a colour that losses its intensity over time.

Fraser, I sometimes get the coolant dash warning since fitting the new expansion tank (been on a while now actually). I just re-read your first post and you mentioned you'd fitted a new one too. I know there was a batch that were like this as a few have reported the same just before the final production run before they were discontinued.

Thanks for the positive comments on my paint! In fairness, its not a great colour match to the original. More like a metallic now than a pearl I think. There are quite a few different shades of the same colour for some reason. I know others have encountered it with other colours, and lucky for some, body shops have consulted them on it. Unfortunately, mine didn't........
