The dude with the Vandals T-shirt in the X-Files! Man, I was happy when I saw that - they played Live Fast Diarreha (pfft, spelling) too. :D :offtopic:  edit - and the guy that played Nicholas Cage's brother in Gone in 60 Seconds...

Yeah, a lot of VW's do this. You can run a wire from the ignition to the stereo to get the traditional "on when the car is running" setup. Or leave as is... ...I quite like it, not having to put power to the ignition system etc... in order to listen to the stereo. Plus, most people these days have face off stereos (which you'd be crazy to leave on the car) that cut the power as soon as they're detached. Problemo solved :D

phew, cool - panic over. thought another rado got hurt for a minute! :|
-
That does look good, you'll have to post a pic when it's all in there. Liking that. How much did you pay for your TT seats if you don't mind me asking?
-
Not a stack I hope? :( Are you sure those TT seats arn't any higher ;)
-
Didn't the pipe have to be exactly 100cm?

SOme very nice examples in there. I must admit, I am jealous of your bi-lingual abilities. Might have to take up German again... hmmm....

Want to hear what a NA 300bhp R32 sounds like in a tunnel?

go man go, go man go! -
PMSL, this should be a corker. Anyone ever see that pic of the couple that got down and dirty on the bonnet of a car... ...the imprint of them getting dirty was the only trace left in the dirt... Hmm, gives me an idea.

That's a pretty damn fine package - but 3 big ones? Whoa nelly... Certainly explains the rumble, and extra horses that's for sure! -

/faux German on Ze fake talking of ze Germanic languages was making me laugh ja? /faux German off Yep yep, legend hooked me up with a couple of panels from his ex-beast for a very reasonable rate. It's a shame though, it sounded like a bit of a wonder wagon. :( Still, the Golf looks more than willing to take over. :D I'm glad you got them, I was getting a little worried as I've sent a couple of things through the post room at work and I've had nothing but hassle with one parcel... Ah who knows maybe the random shaped parcels made it through OK, and the regular boring ones got canned! What has Mr H done to his R32 to get 300bhp and that uber-rumble?? -

Paul mentioned this at the weekend, can see (or hear) exactly what he was going on about now - sweeeet :D -
Ah maaaaaan, not cool. Sorry to hear you had such a PITA getting it done. The bloke I took mine to was moaning about the track rod ends n' all - or more to the point, the locking nut for the TRE. I'm praying he turned mine the right way before giving up. Still, I've replaced just about everything else in that region of the car - so why not them too  Glad to hear you got it sorted in the end, albeit at the cost of half a day. Still, fingers crossed you'll find the chav to get that back mwahaha

Unless it was a VR6 --> G60 conversion ;) Unlikely, but certainly would be unique...
-
Nuts, I find that out now
-
Good question. I plan on keeping mine for a little while longer yet, I've just sunk a load of money into it and plan on sinking a little more before I'm done. Then it's a case of getting money's worth, another 10-15 years should cut it  If I was in a more viable position, with less milage to do each day I probably would have shifted it already in favour of a VR6. Put simply, there is no other car out there that feels right for the budget I've got. Ideally, I'd like an A3 1.8T - too expensive though!

Surrey Rolling Road in Camberley close enough? http://www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk/ :D

Passat G60 swap - seriously considering it...!
randal replied to gradeAfailure's topic in Engine Bay
If anyone should have answered that - I'm thinking it should have been Gavin. :D Get in there Dave, you know it makes sense. It'll be a wicked project to take up, and as you say - how many G60'd passats are there kicking about?? -
 guilty as charged.

I have nothing better to do with my day, so I sit on the forum all day praying for 6pm to roll around :D Got this suspicion that Jim's reasoning is pretty similar!
-
How about one of these for a head unit? Have heard some good things about them now, and not too badly priced. Don't think they've excessively neon either :) Ebay is OK for parts too, just be prepared for a bit of blind competition. Best bet like Jim said was GPC, or ECP. Failing that, keep an eye on the "parts for sale" section - good turnover in there. Welcome to the forum btw :D edit - yer set to "on holiday" too, which i think has an effect on sending private messages...
-
Have you had the clocks out, checked the connector on the back etc..?
-
I think I'll hold on to them as "winter wheels", plus as you say it's a good idea to keep them in case of a sale. If it wasn't for the fact they're so porked, I'd probably keep the sebrings. They're not too bad when refurbed imo. I think the early valvers are all getting to that sort of age where these sorts of jobs need doing, just have to bite the bullet. In all fairness, I bought the car with a view to getting stuck in and doing these jobs as and when. Certainly a sense of satisfaction over hte last month, and the upcoming months hopefully too. Brake wise it's still using the 16V system, just with Brembo "Max" disks, and green stuff pads on the front. Then the Max discs and standard VAG pads on the rear. It's got a nice amount of bite, plenty for me. Maybe down the line I'd consider the upgrade if they came along, but in all honesty there's never going to be a power plant in there that needs uber-stoppage

Right, I'll get those leccy window switches and the heater panel finished and post up some piccies. I know what you mean. When I look at the scratch on my car it puts a big :( on my face but then I get in it and drive it :D :D :D :D I LOVE my car  There's definately something about these cars alright, grin in a can. I hear what you're saying, scratch/dent or not. If anything it's just a reminder to get it sorted :)

Just a quick update, in the last month she's been lowered, had a large portion of the suspension and related components replaced. New shocks, springs, top mounts, bump stops, wheel bearings, brakes, roll bar bushes and drop links, wishbone bushes, track rod ends, aaaaaand scent of mullet air freshener :D Have also fitted that Passat light with the ambient glow I was harping on about, and more or less switched everything to red illumination. The latter was made possible in the large part by Dave and Phil (gradeAfailure and Phil K) Unfortunately as previously mentioned, the rado is also sporting a pretty wicked dent in the rear quarter. To be repaired in July... :| Once that's done and out of the way, I can get around to rebuilding the head I've got and other funky thangs. I know it doesn't sound like much when held up against the likes of the magic some are doing with R32, V6 and 20vT conversions, and the uniqueness of the interiors/exteriors seen at present. But, it's my valver - still sticks a big ol' grin on my face - and at the end of the day a rado. :D [web]http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=734[/web]
