Hi all if anyone has a problem with their heated seat, and have ruled out a faulty relay then the guide below may help. I took apart the seat yesterday and managed to fix the heater element which resolved the problem. Bear in mind the Stealership quoted me a labour cost of £320+VAT+£80for the new element Anyway i hope it helps someone 1. Remove seat - usual method 2. disconnect seat heater plug 3. detach base seat from backrest but do not separate completely - they are held together by the heater loom. To detach the base seat you push out 3 plastic plugs - but be careful when removing the plastic cover - I broke one of my pins. Once cover is off you slide off the clip shown in the pics you will also need to remove the main hinge screw between the backrest and bumseat. 4.Once the two parts are loosely held by the loom only, you need to remove the leather from the base seat. Be prepared for all manner of litter to fall out. I had loads of broken glass come out - evidence of a previous break-in no doubt. Remove the leather by loosening 4 metal rings (2 on each side) and lift up the leather cover You will then see the heater element.(see pictures) To expose the wiring cut through the fabric CAREFULLY protecting the element. From my pic, it looked like the element had burned out as shown, but in fact the element had become detached near the point of origin into the seat. I soldered this back on, and covered the exposed wires with sticky bandage tape (the fabric sort) Refitted everything and hey presto - the seat works!

Good on you for saving another Storm from the crusher IMO, I would probably be unable to resist changing the auto box to manual, because the auto box supplied wasn't the best apparently. I know autoboxes now are pretty sporty but back then....... However the exterior I would fight to preserve as original Storm - but good luck on finding some decent Solitudes!!

I made an enquiry about replacing the BBS solitude wheel (pictured) and contacted my local stealership After 'umming' and 'ahhing' they came up with a price of £400 per wheel :!: :!: :!: SURELY that can't be right..........can it?

Hi all Just fitted Gavin's headlight loom and the result is shocking I suppose I am one of the last to do this upgrade - but the difference is difficult to imagine until you really do it. Thanks to Gavin who was very helpful and efficient in supplying a professional looking piece of kit

Just out of interest, what sort of maximum temperatures are you folks getting from the MFA oil temperature display? Also, how high does your water temp gauge read once the engine is well warmed up just before the thermostat takes effect?
-
yep, cheers Dave the sensor had died - replaced with one from the stealers @ £15.85 + VAT if anyone's interested the part number is 9193 79 A working fine now - 12 degrees outside in May!!

I think if its the wheel bearing the noise is exacerbated when going round a corner, if its wheel balancing then the noise is unaffected by turning

Cheers folks :? :?

hi all my spoiler stuck midway today whilst I was driving (refused to go down when approaching a stop). When I got home, and switched off the ignition, the car refused to start up again. It would turn over and fire and then lose revs and cut out - kind of like a fuel pump problem. I thought this was coincidental, but when I replaced the fuse for the spoiler the C started straightaway. Is this fuse meant to be 10 amp? Is the fuel pump also linked to the same fuse as the spoiler? cheers

I flushed out my system this weekend. First of all I had a heck of a time locating the drain plug and undid the power steering hose accidentally losing half of my reservoir. Any how i had the rusty coloured coolant problem and flushed out with engine running etc but when I checked the inlet hose of the radiator after the water had run clear, it was still full of rusty coloured fluid!!! So does this mean there is a problem with the thermostat or a blockage in the radiator? cheers

Hi all My MFA has started to seriously overestimate the outside temperature over the last few weeks. Yesterday it was on optimistic overload reading 32 degrees. Now I know I live in the South but that is ridiculous any suggestions? cheers

Thanks for that but where is the relay for the passenger seat heater? Also why does the ABS hydraulics come on when the key is in the accessory ignition? Does anyone else get this whirring from the engine compartment when you turn the key but only to the accessory position ? cheers
-
I was trying to find relay 18 for the passenger seat heater relay using Bentleys map It looks nothing like the map in Bentleys manual!! Relay 18 is in position 4 Have a look at the picture please and tell me whats going on? Also why does the ABS hydraulics come on when the key is in the accessory ignition? Does anyone else get this whirring from the engine compartment when you turn the key but only to the accessory position ? If anyone can supply a pic of their fuse/relay box, I would be grateful PS Anyone know what the disconnected orange/yellow plug in the top right is meant to be plugged into? And whats the grey plug next to it doing? Confused!!!

I loved the headlights - do they take much modification to squeeze in then?
