I second that. I know sometimes marital pressure is sometimes overwhelming but I can't believe you got rid of the UR I would have hidden it in a mate's garage if I had to and told her it was gone. Then you tell her youre taking the dog for a walk and pop round the corner and hey presto youre off. I know this ingenuity because a mate of mine did the same for three years with a race modded Kawasaki 750ZR. He tried to sell it to me because the pressure was getting to him but when I went for a test ride I very nearly s**t myself when I hit 8000rpm   But seriously, a nice catalogue of cars My boring list is Golf MK1 1.3(when passed test at 17) Polo 1.3CL (going backwards here but I was a student and the car was perfect as a load lugger - did 1400 miles, fully loaded, in 48 hours without a complaint) Golf MK3 1.8SE - the only car I've ever bought brand new and did 36000 boring miles in 1 year Corrado Storm NO CAR FOR 2 YEARS Corrado Storm 2

The clifford 500 has the same function, but to be honest I think it is just gimmicky. In the end of the day, If some lowlife wants to take a key to our beloved cars - the imbeciles will not be warned away by a chirp. Likewise blinkered tesco mum with her 17 kids all evacuating the corsa at once will not stop when their doors slam into yours. So I don't really get the point of the proximity sensor Now if it was wired up to the positive lead of the battery and created an electronic forcefield around the car electrocuting anyone that dares getting too close................................................................. sorry Im losing it

I too am thinking of lowering but was umming and ahhing regarding preservation of originality - but the car looks as though its on stilts!!!!! why did they make the car sit so high especially at the back? Its even more of an omission when I look at pics of lowered C's - they look complete

does no-one like the original dunlop sp sport 2000?

I had a Clifford Concept 500 installed about 3 months ago. There WERE some teething difficulties, predominantly fine adjusting the perimeter sensors and impact sensors (hence bleeping at people and in the rain) but this seems to have been resolved. I had a problem with the main alarm going off when it rains but this was due to the siting of the bonnet sensor - rain was running down the left hand side bonnet gap and streaming on to the sensor shorting it, but once re-sited, Ive had no problems. It is ESSENTIAL that you get an authorised dealer or else Thatcham Cat 1 status is void, besides having a nightmare when something goes wrong SHOP around - I was quoted a range of £450-£850 for the same alarm system!! Oh yeah - if you do go for the Clifford - make sure you have a few months do go through the instruction manual NOTE: the last point may be due to my mental lassitude - you may have no problem digesting it

Doesn't matter what you spend - Boxster Disaster??
STORM 2 replied to Storm's topic in General Car Chat
Just read your tale of woe and you have my sympathies My advice, however, is considering that the car has 'never been right' since purchase from new, I would not delay and seek the advice of a solicitor. Consumer law is on your side because you have been sold a documented faulty product which still has issues ongoing. The extra troubles you've been through strengthen your case shopuld the case go to court but quite frankly I doubt that would happen. Get a solicitor specialising in consumer law to fire off a couple of letters to the original dealership with copies to Porsche UK, and you'll see things move. If not, take the car to the dealership, park it outside their front entrance and give the keys to the manager stating that you are not satisfied with the product they have supplied and the subsequent customer service and you are returning the faulty goods. Also, you are hereby giving them notice that you will be pursuing an action in order to a) recover the original money paid b)seek compensation for personal damages related to the whole traumatic episode . Then let your legal advisor continue from there Its sad that it has to come to this but faced with these multinational conglomerates, the ordinary person usually just 'puts up and shuts up' especially when in your case you don't want to believe that a Porsche and the marque in general has let you down. But if you don't let them know you have teeth then they will always assume that they will never be bitten. Good Luck -
tell us more about Slough - sounds like the lower east side the way you describe it :) :)
-
yes another 249 I think
-
anyone done this or got any experience of this (being offered by Stealth) Sounds tempting not least because it seems a reversible mod

TBH, the fuel consumption on the VR6 compares well and even betters many newer cars of similar performance today The RX8 is as thirsty as hell and the nissan not much better

Optimax was 99.9p a litre round our way today thanks to the Saudi trouble. I think I will have to call it a day and use Tesco's own unleaded with treacle and grit additives.... :( :( :(

yep - got mine from Volksbits - total cost was about £25 including yellow LED light bulbs - fantastic light in the dark although they look a bit feeble when its daytime. The clear repeaters are definately a must as far as the look of the car goes - would recommend them the ones from Volkbits fit very snugly indeed - infact once they clipped in I got worried about taking them off in the future!
-
check battery first then . If lights are dim or fade when you try and turn it over - its the battery

A P reg!! I wonder how many of them are around?

I don't know - what car has Dubiya Bush got?

does the engine turn normally?

look at where the rubber stops of the parcel shelf slot into the plastic slots of the plastic side panels (rear speaker units) these are usually broken off and you will find that the shelf will move slightly up and down if you grab it and try to move it. Drastic (+expensive) solution would be to replace these rear side panels in order to get unbroken slots, but I suppose black tape wrapped around the rubber and then getting a tight fit into the slots may work. I haven't tried it yet but will get round to it soon......

Glad you got it sorted - in any case I can never get mine to sit perfectly straight - another example of Karmann Friday Afternoon syndrome no doubt....
-
Haven't had any experience with them I must say - cheapest I could find was esure at £450 fully comp £150 Xs so I went for it. Daresay you guys have found cheaper 8)

definately a point Sanjay, I mean who in their right mind would raid a perfectly good C just for the engine? Surely it would have to be worth just breaking up rather than preserving?
-
  Erm who is HIC?

I agree with Kev - not sure about the blacked out centres.....the wheels do look great on your car though..

Thank you to Gavin for his headlight loom - I am probably one of the last to do this mod but am nevertheless very pleased with the result. Good communication and backup as well! I can recommend it to anyone left who hasn't done it yet Cheers Gavin
