Didn't realise the inside of the spokes was black. Black wheels are not my cuppa cha. Got me looking at BBS again ya buggers! Maybe BBS CS 17x7.5? They're the cheapest at only £177 a wheel! :eek:

I'm on the East side aye. Near Koln Arena. I got advice from Stealth. But the car is being worked on here by an engine specialist. Schmitz & Kreiger. They worked on the original VR6 engines for VW and they do work for Toyota Motorsport. In our apartment block it is "verboten" to work on your car in the underground parking. Even changing my wheels over for the Winter I got some funny looks. Similar to the way it's illegal to wash your car unless it is at a dedicated wash area. There are some strange rules here.

Ideally I would like 17" BBS RD's, I had the 16" RDs on my last VR. But they don't make them anymore and their current range are too "modern" IMO. I had RX2's on my Anni Mk3 and having watched them corrode over the years, there's no way I would spend money on BBS splits. The Compomotive GB looks interesting though. Thanks for pointing that out. I might just go crazy and buy some RH's but I understand there are some fitting problems with them and larger brake setups. I plan on going 312mm at some stage.

Quick update. After speaking to Vince @ Stealth. I decided to go for a rebore/rebuild. List of parts to date.. - Woessner Forged Pistons & Conrods - ARP Bolts - Steel Headgasket - Oil Pump - Water Pump - Helix Clutch - Uprated clutch arm - Mocal Oil Cooler - Slimmer Rad Fans - AC Condenser - Radiator - Baffled Sump - Black SAMCOS - VT Front Mount I should have her back on the road by the end of October.

It might be the built in VW immobiliser. The "reader coil" around the ignition barrel can go and cause your symptoms. Mine went last summer. I traced the connection for the coil back to a little plug behind the dash near the headlight switch. Pulled the plug off, sprayed some contact cleaner around both connections, gave them a good scrub. Reconnected and the problem disappeared. Search for "reader coil" for more info.

What worries me more is the fact that the wrapping can combust or your manifold can crack if there's the slightest gap in the wrapping. All the heat concentrates at the exposed part and "whoosh" or "crack" big problem! Maybe it's better just to leave the manifold exposed? Still waiting for a price from Camcoat. Maybe they'll be more reasonable.

Yeah the search function resurrects old threads! :) I have my 6 branch sitting here. All shiny and new. But I don't know what to wrap it with or whether I even need to. Thought about getting it coated but that is gonna cost way too much. So any recommendations?

What happened lads? The GB thread is dead so I can't track the progress there. Did you all get some of this stuff and how is it 2 years on?

Nice writeup! :salute: 2 ECU's and 3 ABS pumps later. I completely removed the ABS system from my car so it would pass MOT. :(
