  1. weight is 6lb, see http://www.unorthodoxracing.com/vw_corrado.html
  2. It was sat there waiting for me when I got back this evening - was only sent out from the states at the end of last week. Its a 'prototype' for 'evaluation purposes only' Also got a turn2 pulley as well. I feel like the £1K I have spent on parts recently is starting to pay off. A few hundred sent out to the states and several more with my good friend at the local VW dealership, and it should turn out to be an almost new car A special thanks should go out to Paul Horrocks for putting me in touch with Robert Allen(yellowslc from this forum) in the states who sorted all this out for me :notworthy:
  3. I've tried this with a spare Cat ,they are not soft and will not shatter, believe me,unlike fords were you drop them and the guts fall out. I had to gut mine like a fish then weld it back up. I have one of these going Gratis should anyone want one.......
  4. As it happens, I have both of those setups for sale (288mm and 312mm)
  5. 312 is a basic TT or Golf 4-Motion brake setup, single piston slidling caliper. Perfect upgrade for a VR6. The Leon Brembo kit is 323mm, and costs the best part of one large last time I looked As I said earlier, the reason that I went to 305 and stopped there is because of the 15" wheels that I wanted to run
  6. There is that, but the problem I faced was getting my wheels to fit. I desperately wanted 15's to fit over these brakes and had wheels to do so - Compomotive MO's in ET20 - the problem with the VR hubs with this combo is that they required a bigger spacer than the 14mm that I tried. The mounting lugs on the hub for the carrier are further towards the face of the drive flange than on a 4 stud hub, which meant that everything moved closer towards the face. The actual fitment would have worked well with a turned down 312 disc, the offset match being very close, but there wasnt a hope in hells chance of a 15" wheel fitting over it and under the arch Still, for further reference its interesting to know that someone has tried custom bells and rotors, the only other person that I have heard of doing this warped them during the bed in process. I dont suppose you have any more details on this? (before I PM John)
  7. Those would be 'em :D Would be after more info, but seeing as tho I have fitted mine and with all the hassle of finding out the info
  8. Myths out then - vr6 hubs will fit a 4stud car, BUT you will also need to change your wishbones, ARB, and driveshafts. The VR setup has a wider track, hence the different driveshafts, and also a larger outer CV. The wishbones need to be changed because of the fitment of the bottom balljoint and these arent interchangeable with the 4 stud bottom balljoint. The ARB needs to be changed because the wishbone has a different fitment. Not straightforward in an idea, but its dead easy to change. The rear is simple as mentioned above, just a disc swap, BUT the rear will then be 10mm narrower per side VR6 Golf stuff is exactly the same as VR Corrado stuff when talking about the front end hubs, wishbones, ARB etc If you want the 305mm brembo kit, but on 5stud, then you are going to have to do what I have done - take a 4 stud hub, remove the drive flange and the bearing, replace bearing and press in 5 stud VR hub. Replace outer CV with VR item and reassemble. Take one 4 stud 305mm disc, redrill to 5*100 stud pattern and assemble with Brembo caliper. Fit wheel, job done. I have personally done this on my car to get the 305mm brembo kit on a 5 stud application. As a side note, the MK4 Ibiza Cupra appears to have 5*100 brembo's on what I am assuming to be VR hubs - I havent seen it in the metal yet, but I am fairly certain that this will be a bolt on upgrade for the VR corrado's
  9. Or you could upgrade your brakes to 288mm - far easier on the wallet if you need discs and pads anyway. I have the complete setup for sale, PM me if interested
  10. Its not just that Phats, apparently they changed the design of it as the bolts were coming loose - as I want a 3.94, this is the model that it came in, but I need a late one to make sure that its the better design - the one that the VR box always had What 3.94 does matt have? He doesnt have one afaik
  11. As the title says, what year did the 1.8 KR Corrado's get replaced by the 2L 9A version? I need a FD out of one you see, and I'm trying to pin down the right model year to restrict the search on ETKA Cheers Chris
  12. Getting it working properly will be all required!
  13. I read that on no-rice, and I got the feeling it was slightly Esso biased, perhaps the author works for them? I dont doubt that there is an element of supermarket fuels being slightly inferior, but my wallet dictates that I use Tesco's and Asda at present. Having said that, when my VR is up and running I shall be trying most of the varients out there
  14. RS6 can be found in saloon and Avant forms, though most of the sales in this country have been the latter apparently
  15. If you ever go on Scoobynet BBS then you may not be so in awe of them - I realise that the VR6 does have some 'reliability' issues, but there isnt too many people who can say that they have blown their VR motor up! There are issues with several of the scooby models engines, 22B and P1's to name but two
  16. If they are the same caliper design as the Ibiza's, then the caliper doesnt have to come off the hub to change the pad right??
  17. Thats why its easier to find stuff to use on 4*100 - 5*100 is a bit harder to source, or modify, thats why I'm interested in the picture/info that has been posted I too have the seat Ibiza 305mm kit, but on 5*100. If I can do it in an easier way then I'd like to know about it
  18. Now those figures have given me something to aim for - going for the same spec in mine, but with 268's instead of the 260's. 244lb/ft, now THAT is where its at!
  19. Whats the original stud pattern on Gareths Vento Paul - isnt is 4*100???
  20. NormanCoal

    crash!!!

Gutted for you - like has been said ^^ I would think the chances of it being repaired are slim if the shell has creases in it
  21. Never heard of them  but I shall keep the ears sharp
  22. If you here any more, can you post it up please - it would be so much easier to use this lot than modifying the 4 stud 305mm kit like I already have done
  23. Any ideas on the above Henny??
  24. I'd be interested to know more about that, as I'm going to purchase one them in some shape or form
