Can try mate but I swear its a fuelling problem from what you mention! You really need to get a bosch agent to look at it and measure the fuel pressure in the system.

Quote: Passengers are easy - treat my car with respect or walk Same attitude here mate - If they dont show respect they get out and walk... slamming the doors really winds me up - have been known to snap at people who have done that. People who put dents in the side of my C also wind me up - I actually saw some cow doing said thing with a cranky old Escort door - I went ape ! - - missus had to calm me down.... I sometimes park right on otherside of car park where no cars are to come back pretty much everytime to find some idiot in a transit or a jeep has parked right next to me.... To some people it is just a car but Im not one of those people... driving a Corrado makes me feel special and its a special car therefore deserves to be looked after. Thats why us Enthusiasts buy them! Some people dont get it - take for instance an old friend - when I first bought my 1991 16V I paid £5600 for it (3yrs ago)... he couldnt believe I'd paid that money for what basically was a 9yr old car at the time.... could have got a 2yr old Saxo for that money he said.... - some people! I'd hire a compressor and spray gun mate for a weekend and use that - the results will be alot better - have sprayed a couple of cars myself and had a good result - wouldnt dream of using spray cans on a Corrado! Failing that ask the bodyshop who quoted you.... if you could strip it and prep it and they just spray it - the prep and stripping is labour intensive hence the prices... Ive done this lots of times and can get full respray done for £400... and thats a top quality job!!! Worth some thought ? Scott/

Corrado VR6 (a good one) will kick its butt *:) Have raced a Alfa GTV V6 which is same engine I believe.... it lost *:) Wheelspin in 3rd gear is easy... have done it hitting 3rd on a motorway bypass :D  Scott. PS. I dont always drive like a loon!

1993 / K......99k on clock.. engine just loosened up nicely - Impreza beater *;) Scott.

Trust me something will ! :D If its got tits or tyres it gives trouble! like your style scott   btw did your brother get his xr2 sold????and did he get a good price???   Well got the car back from garage this afternoon - all jobs done... needed the rear bearings nipping up too ... couldnt weld the centre hanger as its too rusty it seems - so have used a clip - time for a milltek system I think..... gearshift cables didnt need adjusting... anyway bill was £45 *:) superb! *:) Sold the XR2 mate - Got £650 for it .... so not too bad! Cheers, Scott

Can I disagree with the method you suggested  Ive always been taught from early age that you should start as far away from the master cylinder as possible...... Eg. Rear N/s Rear O/s Front N/s Front O/s in that order..... Even though I also use a one way man kit I still get a 2nd person as mentioned to pump the pedal... when clear fluid coming out I get them to press the pedal down and keep it down till I have nipped it up... then get the 2nd person to release the pedal slowly and will be fine. Correct me if Im wrong! Also I must mention for any of you guys doing brake pad changes with ABS systems to ALWAYS knock off the bleed nipple BEFORE winding / pushing back the caliper pistons!!! Cheers, Scott

Scott, do you have this info on PC, if so could you please email me it. Ive been having a lot of probs with my injection system more or less since I got the car, currently we think its a metering head problem and its getting checked on Wednesday. I wouldnt mind having a look at your info though. Cheers Is it K Jet ? - most of the stuff I have is in paper form but will see what can do . Scott

Ive already tried mate - they aren't interested - the wont 'weld' they say - they want to REPLACE the exhaust and catalyst.. not weld up one bracket and the cat heat shield!! When he told me to rip the shield off I knew it was time to leave....
-
Yup listen to it when you turn the key as mentioned - should buzz until the engine starts up then switch off...
-
True to some extent - but replacing the fuel pipe isnt a nice job - it runs into the drivers side chassis rail .... and adjusting the gear shift cables is also very tricky to get right - and you ever tried welding up galvanised steel ? :D - its like tin foil when welding ! *:) All three good reasons why Im not doing it myself *:)
-
Yep totally agree with this - the K jet system as on the 1.8 16V uses a cold start valve that only works immediately on starting the key - if its not working / faulty then you'll experience the symptoms described.... I can supply alot of information on the K jet system and how it works - got it kicking about at home... its a very simple system and rarely goes wrong but when it does can be a pig to find problems *:) Scott.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS use genuine OE gaskets ... have rebuilt engines in the past with pattern part gaskets... you get leaks before you know it.. one example was rebuilding a 20 XE lump on my work bench (Vauxhall 16v redtop) for a mate - he wanted to keep costs low so we got pattern parts - big mistake - the sump was leaking after 100 miles and the head gasket went about 600 miles later... genuine parts cured it but alot of extra work !!!! Scott.
-
If anyone wants some of the same - then give us a shout.... Walkden VW they are called - all old geezers into their VW's ....
-
£120 + VAT *;) And before anyone comments about doing the job properly - these guys are all ex audi / vw technicians and garage been established over 60yrs - they have looked after all my VW's ... work is top notch and I should know being a qualified automotive engineer
-
My VR is going into the VW specialist tomm for some work *:) Fuel pipe replaced (one from engine to tank) Middle box exhaust hanger welded up Cat heat sheild brackets welded up (fractured) Gear linkage cables adjusted Gearbox oil changed Brake fluid changed Slave cylinder bleed Throttle cable replaced... Full Inspection All the niggles will then be sorted :D 8) How much think I have been quoted for that lot to be done then *:)

I'd also recommend getting a manual from haynes for the Golf / Jetta VR6.... this will help you in a bit more step by step when doing the stuff you mention - I have one myself and find it fantastic... but I only have bentley on CD... too be honest bentley holds a lot of info but it assumes you know how to do the job... which when you dont know can be confusing.... Brakes are easy - did mine in half a day for the lot and that also involved changing bearings, abs rings and drilling retaining screws out on front discs!!!! Cheers, Scott -
What is this key fob ? - blank key with a case ? - If so how do I get one *:) - Ive no spare for the VR
-
Back to the subject *:) - Tyres........ Anyone got experience of using Dunlop SP 2000's and compared them to any of the top brand stuff ? I ask as currently have dunlop SP's ........ in the dry they seem very good but are totally pants in wet (read wheel spin in a straight line in 3rd gear at 70mph and you'll get my drift).... ? Scott.
-
Yep I agree with this - had to do same thing on my old 16V - the front mount goes easily as it is fluid filled. Once that goes the rest of them go too - replace all of them - the difference is amazing *:) Scott. PS. They arent expensive either!
-
 send us a email - will sort it out for you. Scott
