Another one that sets it for oil temp when first starts the car and watches the figure raise to 80degC then hits the throttle *;)
-
Well I have tried to trace it without luck - a couple of back street garages reckon its the timing chain - I dont think it is as they make clattering noises not whirring noises *:) - going to book it into Specialist for service shortly so they can have a look for me then! *:)
-
I was on way to the breakers yard on Monday and spotted a Classic Green storm near PC World in Bolton!! *:) - was well chuffed cos you dont see many Corrados u here - dont think he saw me though *:(
-
Welcome to the madhouse *:)
-
cheers scott  :? :( Soz mate - if it makes you feel better my mates Classic Green Storm with 75k miles on it has just been valued at £11.5k by Lancaster Consultants *:)
-
I tend to flick mine up when I see people pointing at the car... occasionally when Im pulling away from lights I have some idiot trying to climb up my boot I accelerate gently to 45mph and let spoiler come up then hit the pedal hard - always makes me laugh *:) - prefer the look of car with spoiler up though *:) And 60% sounds about right but like mentioned its to reduce lift not increase downforce at rear *:)
-
Tell them politely to pi** off - rip off merchants - next time you advertise put in NO CANVASSERS!
-
You also have to bear in mind we dont rate VW mechanics over here much - I know I wouldnt trust them to clean my ashtray *:)
-
One of them I looked at had done 38k miles..... it was totally mint though! - but didnt think Storms were worth that money these days!
-
Its funny that about the suspension - my mate swears no difference in all VR6's... and we thought mine had been lowered as we have had them side by side and his sits like a 4*4 compared to mine! *:) I find it strange when Im pretty sure its on the standard suspension.... anyone know more about this?
-
Not far from me then - should get all the north west guys together for a meet! *:) You going to Dubsport end of month for CCGB RR Day?
-
Where abouts you in Manchester mate?
-
All VW's are designed to run hot - temps you describe are spot on so wouldnt worry about it!... my old valver I saw 124degC in summer once!!... the VR6 runs just as hot! Sounds like you have some rust / dirt on the front brakes... or poss worn parts.... would take the wheels off and inspect brakes... Cheers, Scott

Sorted you out mate - will send a little more when get paid *;) Keep up the good work! Scott

Then you arent getting out enough *;) LOL Seriously for £3k you arent going to get alot of VR6... you could probably pick up a high miler that needs work but thats just it - that work is expensive to do.... once you go past 100k miles - you are looking at possible timing chain, water pumps, clutch, brakes, suspension, etc - although have known some VR's going over 150k with no probs on that front - but one thing that will make a difference is insurance and petrol - insurance... well at your age I'd be surprised if you could get a VR6 insured for less than £1000 fully comp.... I still get daft quotes of £2k at 26yrs old! *:) lol.... also the VR tends to drink petrol round town and now and again I get fed up with putting juice in it - so bear that in mind! - the G60 should be better on petrol round town as smaller capacity engine and two less cylinders to feed *:) A decent G60 can be had for £3k..... or a tatty VR6 with high miles.... choice is yours *:) But ALWAYS ALWAYS leave at least £500 from your budget to sort and problems that may need doing - as I guarntee you will find a couple after purchasing.... and the cost adds up *:)... mine needed a new ignition switch two days after I bought it - cost me nearly £100 fitted (couldnt be bothered to do it myself - LOL).. I then spent another £100 on cleaning products as it needed it  Scott

Seen a couple at my local stealers recently - tend to be late plate ones but the prices they are asking for them is ridiculous!! - saw a 16V M reg and they wanted £7k for it! *:)
-
Price is from GSF... no idea about price from VW but wont be much more would have thought....
-
Well its not a hard job but is very time consuming hence why garages will charge alot for the job even though pump is only £30.... you need to do the following: - remove airbox, etc - remove drivers side front wheel - remove inner wheel arch liner.. - jack up car and support it - take weight off front and rear engine mounts - remove bolts from engine mounts - jack up engine using gearbox mount as pivot so engine should come up at an angle - jack up engine approx six inches so can get to pump - undo bolts for belt,etc.. you might need to jack up couple of more inches. - pry pump out of block and replace with new one. Then stick it all back together.... VW quote 2hrs to do this... yet most garages take 4hrs... hence the labour... Scott
-
Yeah mine only does it when hot too funnily enough - but from what have been told so far it is a possibility the water pump bearings are noisy.... I dont like noises that arent supposed to be there....*:)... it isnt timing chain - I know what one of them sounds like when gets noisy *:) Im pretty convinced its either pump or tensioner - going to take a more detailed look later and poss take off belt and have a feel of the bearings *:) ooer *:) LOL - just swapping over at plug end will result in mis firing *;) As for tempting fate - no comment *:)

Have seen nearly 400 miles on full tank of optimax from VR6..... there is no low fuel light on any corrados as far as am aware....
-
Traction Control - not working or just not fitted?
Scott replied to stormseeker's topic in Drivetrain
ALL Corrado VR6's had EDL as standard - but it only works up to 25mph and will not work past half throttle.... so if you are nailing it to the floor it will cut out by default.... mine works *:) -
Talk about running out of luck.... Got back last night and the VR didnt sound right - popped the bonnet and its making a strange whirring noise from the left hand side of the engine (ancillary belt end)... anyone got any suggestions as to common things that need replacing in that area? And to top it I whipped out the number one spark plug (see earlier thread! - chugging VR6) to find it covered in wet black substance again - smells like petrol.... duff leads perhaps? I NEED to get these probs sorted for rolling road on 27th!!! ARGH! Cheers, Scott
-
I never skimp on good quality service parts *:) - If VW says it should have them then it will *:) I get NGK Plats for £6 each *:) - you ask how much VW want for them *:)
-
could that be because its a bigger tank? LOL No its cos I drive with my foot glued to the floor *:) - I meant that I have to put fuel in more often than my old one rather than quantity of fuel *;) Go for the VR6 mate! - it makes sense! - I had the same delimma as you six months ago....! *:) - I dont regret getting the VR one bit! *:)
