Cheap Fix *:) Slide it open then shut it ..... rattle stops..... tilt it then shut it.... rattle starts .... get it? *;) Trust me it works *:)
  3. Hi Guys, A mate bought magazine from ebay last week about buying corrados. Its Autocar 7th Jan 97. In it, it reckons that the cam profiles were changed on VR6's from 94 (M) onwards to improve the torque characteristics. It also reckons this coincided with a drop in the red line revs from 6900 to 6400.... Anyone know anything of this or is it all tosh? *:) If it is true what difference does it make to power / output / etc? Cheers, Scott
  4. Me neither.... alot of mags quote 6.4 secs for the VR6 - sounds about right but only if being brutal with the clutch - side stepping or dumping the clutch kills engine mounts and puts strain on pretty much every component... maybe Im soft but I much prefer the idea of getting the car rolling gently first then flooring it which is alot less stressful on the car *:) Oh.. and 4k revs and dumping the clutch in any conditions will result in mucho wheel spin and you not going forwards
  5. I paid £3600 for a 1993 VR6 in Aqua Blue last October with low miles, mostly complete VAG service history and rucks of reciepts... As a guide: to early 1993 VR6... approx £4k 1993 - 1994 (face lifted) ... approx £5k 1994-1995 .. approx £6k 1995-1996.. approx £7k Storm.. approx £8k But as we all know... condition not mileage defines the prices these days - at least thats what the trade say...
  6. If its a 1.8 16V Corrado then yes this is correct - *:) *edit* - just seen you have a G60 - LOL *:) Not sure about the G60 but on the valver the reason this happens is that the fuel burns off when engine is hot (rad going) so the fuel pump keeps pumping until fan goes off to help the car start next time go to start it.... have the info somewhere...
  7. Sunday 27th April - 10am.
  8. Going to be servicing the VR6 next weekend before the rolling road session at Dubsport ... does anyone know if its worth cleaning out the breather pipes, etc or what pipes are worth cleaning out on the VR6 to help it breath better? perhaps idle better?
  9. Walkden VW Specialists - Established over 60yrs - sound people , professional and the only people I trust my car with!! Based near Manchester. 0161 790 5483
  10. Funnily enough a 1.8 16V Corrado on a J plate and a Mint concours MK1 Astra GTE *:) I'm 26yrs old now *:)
  11. Lights look great as does ride height but perhaps suggest bigger rims? *:)
  12. Immobiliser does sound questionable - but perhaps check ignition switch?
  13. Well get the carpets up and find out - it could be a seperate loom though although doubt it........

    Wobbly pulley

Sounds like the lug that holds on the pulley has come out or possibly the bolt has loosened? - the lowest pulley is attached to the cambelt so DO NOT start the car until this is fixed!

    Fuel Type

UK: 95 RON is unleaded. 95 RON is also LRP 97 RON is Super UL Optimax is supposed to be 98 RON>?
  16. Shouldnt the cables be in floor already on the Corrados ?

    Fuel Type

So what fuel do you guys use? Optimax? Esso Super UL ? Im asking as yesterday un able to refill with the usual optimax mix (couldnt locate a garage) I filled with Esso Super Plus UL... and for some strange reason the car seems to pull stronger than it did with Optimax! Is this just me? - I always thought Optimax was 98 octane? and Super UL is 97 Octane? Scott.

    MFA default

Yup *:) The missus takes mick cos as soon as start car - I hit the MFA to change it to oil temps... then plug in the snooper, then stick stereo in before moving off *:)
  20. You will hear it alot sooner before it breaks mate - if engine sounds fine just keep changing that oil regularly - its all hype that they need doing at 100k miles.... have seen some engines with nearly double that on original chains..... it just depends on how its been looked after - if been pushed from cold then the chains tend to stretch - engine will start to clatter before it breaks. Its a big job to replace but by no means impossible - to give you a rough idea I was quoted £400 for the job to be done including new chains and tensioners... if down south expect a bit higher than that. If you are going to do it yourself - yep its a big job - a weekender type of thing and the box has to come right out. Scott.
  21. Whose the warranty company mate? Ive been told VW do warranty schemes for old VW's?
  22. Thats different to what he is asking mate - 4 wheel digital alignment requires expensive gear.... and is also ALOT more accurate than the normal kit.... Had mine done on old Corrado for £40 - best £40 Ive spent *:) Although it is only the front that is adjustable they measure it from all angles and adjust it spot on even taking wear out...
  23. Thats lovely mate.... reminds me of my mates down south - like you he has a Classic Green storm (just been valued at 11.5k) and is in concours condition yet uses it as a daily driver - washes it several times a week including the arches, petrol tank, etc - trully is mint. Scott
  24. BMW drivers are my number one priority to upset... including a certain M3 driver who got upset cos I was keeping up with him so tried to 'lose' me by slamming his brakes on at silly speeds... People who try and climb into the boot of the VR at 80mph on a motorway...... Salt on roads in winter.... had two windscreens and two lenses replaced because of it.... Poor condition of the roads up here in the North West.... damages my suspension... Taxi Drivers who have their own rules on the road... I could go on and on *:)
