I knew it wasn't worth buying the socket  , what on earth else is 29mm??
-
Yes, mtl is the wrong grade for the 02a iirc

Can't believe you've never heard of this, any car of our corrados era will benefit from a long hard run, in fact a large number of the cars that fail their emissions test on the mot at my dads place pass second time after a second gear run up the by-pass  you can revive some cats to a certain extent by getting them really hot.As fuel metering, engine efficiency and emissions controls have improved it's less of an issue on more modern cars, but, of course systems that learn the drivers style will affect performance so you can make some cars feel more responsive by driving them harder.

D 476 KD7 A3 That's what's on my vw stuff, labelled as SEAM SEALANT The runny stuff is D003 500 underseal
-
yeah, that's where the tube of seam sealer stuff comes in, I'll read the number off the tube tonight :)
-
might just have hit a worn spot on the synchro on 2nd I guess, 2nd suffers the most as it has the biggest speed/ratio difference to make up and get used the most.

yep, two products, one is thin and could be sprayed on, comes in a can with a screw lid, the other is in a kind of silicon sealant tube (but no piston, perhaps that's a shultz can?) this last type is much thicker and more of a seam sealer, you can brush this about and with practice you can get a very similar finish to the factory with either. In a thread somewhere I'm sure Ive got pics and part no.s for both, definately the thinner stuff in the can, and I know Kip has used that too.

this is a splitter: or this: Wikipedia has the/an answer: Front spoilers – A front spoiler, or air dam, is positioned under the front bumper. This type of spoiler originally was designed for racing cars and is shaped to reduce the airflow under the car. Splitters The airstream is brought to stagnation above the splitter by an air dam, causing an area of high pressure. Below the splitter, the air is redirected away from the stagnation zone and is accelerated, causing the pressure to drop. This, combined with the high pressure over the splitter creates downforce. so there you go, the corrado has an 'air dam' or 'front spoiler' but no splitter :)

ruler? :) it's 32mm I think, but I've always used an adjustable spanner as I can't justify a deep 32mm socket only for that.

037 121 132B and o-ring 037 121 687 if you get one from VW it probably comes with the seal might as well do the one on the end of the head too, which is the same as an 8v corrado, Passat or mk3 golf 8v 026 121 144A (I know these ones can be had a lot cheaper from ECP etc, not sure about the front one as it's G60 specific number wise.)
-
ah, a leaky flange, I'll go and get you the number, yes, it comes with a rubber o-ring
-
or a very small chisel and tap them round
-
I'll leave the passenger indicator cheers, about the same as mine, thanks for putting the pic up though.
-
I'll have the passenger indicator if its not cracked or chipped, cheers, David.

Yep, and I'd imagine a passat, sharan or galaxy too

Jim's Corrado - ciao to the Fiat! Hello to.. (P64)
davidwort replied to Jim's topic in Members Gallery
and my father in law bought a mondeo in 2007 for 17 grand that is now worth 7, and it's had more go wrong with it than both your Corrados put together! Cars will always be a money pit so you might as well have something you have some affection for :) -
Jim's Corrado - ciao to the Fiat! Hello to.. (P64)

I wouldn't look at it like that Jim, Corrados are a) a massive hobby of yours and b) depreciated a heck of a lot less than a huge number of cars you could have been driving. -
So was it burning oil then? Could it be valve guides/seals? Was it down on power? I suppose it makes sense to check the block face and head for warping. It doesn't look like an obvious gasket leak from cylinder to cylinder or cylinder to oil gallery.

 have to say I thought that was a **** take at first, just hammered a chisel into a wheel bolt hole
-
no, I think Alex meant S3, S4's use 5 and 6 pot engines IIRC depending on year/model
-
no, but before I read the text I thought I'd seen this at Stealth before, I'm thinking it had a lot of money spent on it up there, looks like a real sleeper too :)
-
and use one of the new torx head ones, not a phillips, and put a bit of copper grease on it, doesn't need to be done up tight either.
-
Only a guess, but perhaps it's cycling the abs pump as part of it's test, p'raps one of the experts on here has proper knowledge of the vr brake system :)

I can't see they'll be made out of any cheaper materials than VW originally made them out of, and it's a bit of a generalisation about China, they don't just make christmas cracker toys now you know, take a look at all of your electronics, laptop, ipad, phone and probably most of your clothes  China seems to be the last home of most of VW's manufacturing lines and equipment, wouldn't surprise me if the very same tools used to make corrado bits are pumping out jetta spares now.
