Yep, did my 8v roll bar bushes recently, I had an engine support beam but did basically as you describe, but thinking about it I only had to drop the subframe a bit as I wanted to remove the roll bar to paint it. You might only need to undo the little bush clamp and not touch the subframe at all.

I believe so, will check if there's a different nut to the slotted one on the early type.

you could change the spring top plates and use the later (mk3 golf) style top mounts (separate bearing and bushing), you could then use pattern bushes and VW bearings if you wanted.

In my never ending quest to keep everything on the old daily runner working, I cleaned the mirror switch contacts today and noticed this: made me :)

Fuel delivery from the injectors shouldn't be a problem as you say, never heard of the k-jet injectors or metering head being a limitation on a NA 16v. I'm assuming you have had the ECU checked for any faults. Did you check the balance between the injectors when you fitted the new ones? fuel delivery check is pretty easy to do. Is it possible that the wiring from the full throttle switch is defective? Not sure if this would cause an ECU fault, but it might be worth checking the wiring for continuity. I think it was Corradophil that has a similar problem with a modified 2L 16v, they do seem to be limited by the shape of the airflap cone, but then I've also seen 9A's that don't seem to have a top end problem.

haven't been since half the traders changed into mobile pound shops, and poundland don't charge £16.95 entry fee (so I've been told) I'm sure they'll be some nice cars there (amongst the chav-mobiles), but it's always going to be a struggle to create an atmosphere in the middle of a windswept airfield.

Can't suggest anyone that is likely to do a turbo VR and other cars on the same policy but I have to say that the Admiral multicar policy I took out last year seems pretty good. The 16v has just gone onto it (as it's own policy had only just started last year when I started the multicar one) I now have 2 Corrados and a Golf on one policy, all of them fully comp for £645 on the renewal just come through, so not everyone has had massive hikes in premiums this year. Also, I thought that was very good considering the 2nd Corrado had effectively no no-claims this time last year.

non sunroof corrado doesn't have a mounting point as there's only the interior light fitted straight into the roof lining.

That's the one, you could move the mirror down a bit but tbh I like it touching the top rather than having a gap

If not perfect the mk3 gti/16v/vr6 and corrado vr6 mounts are definitely better than the mk2 derived 4cyl corrado ones

Hi! Where abouts are you and what corrado? You don't work at barclaycard do you? My wife has seen one parked there a few times recently, a few of us about :)

You can for Facebook, and I have. Even if I just liked my own post

You can definitely fit late parts to an early bumper.

Might be 15 years on but I still love them, walking away from parking up and glancing back, winding round the country roads, giving them a good clean inside and out or just a nice cruise home in the afternoon sun today :D That's all.

The Monkey's Daily - Mk2 Golf GTi 8v [straight through MOT]

:) if the CL unit/pump looks like the Corrado unit and has the 357 (88-93 Passat) P/N prefix then it should be identical, there is a permanent live feed to the box and then switching feeds for lock/unlock (same two wires for both front door handles) you should get 12v at the permanent and 12v at each of the switching feeds when you hold the lock over on lock or unlock, if you get power to each of these then a relay in the CL circuit board has gone or the pump/motor is sha99ed, seems they fail more often than I thought, never heard of preoblems with these until I started trying to resolve my dead CL, now I find reports of them breaking everywhere  -
my 8v has just done 38mpg ave. on the last tank of fuel, not bad for a sub £500 car, and I reckon that means ZERO annual depreciation too
-
having said that, try as I might I never managed to get a 1.9 fabia TDI lower than 45mpg, I drove it the same (well attempted to) as a golf G60 and that averaged 18mpg
-
either way, with the tread that low they won't perform as intended and could be very nasty if we get a heavy downpour, you do remember what rain is like? :) - it's been bone dry round here for weeks tread wear markers are a good guide, once down to them, as your's are, they are well past what you need
-
Going to take you a few years to pay off the difference in buying a decent newish TDI by purely better mpg (not to mention £1.40+ a litre for diesel) even on a high mileage, then you add in the depreciation (not to mention servicing and replacement parts on a newish TDI) and all of a sudden driving and maintaining an old corrado doesn't look so bad after all.

petrol smell could just be like the early corrados, no one-way flap in the filler neck and just sometimes you get a whiff. -
Get it back to as near as standard, in good condition it should fetch good money like that, I reckon most potential buyers either want standard or prefer to put their own stamp on a car style and mods wise, then sell all your mods separately, I think that should maximise return without breaking.

VW Parts - No club discount? GRRRR!
davidwort replied to Alex_G60_Fanatic's topic in General Car Chat
To be fair the CCGB have no 'deal' with VW, it's totally up to a franchise dealer what or if they give discount. If they order on 'back order' parts come to them a little cheaper, next day/that day type delivery is more and intended for better service for fixing their customer's cars quicker. You are probably better find a TPS than a dealer parts dept, but even trade customers with high order levels only get 10% or so and little or nothing on some service parts, some service parts, TPS in particular, will give very good deals to match other local motor factors, sometimes even better. For instance, all my last VAG oil filters have been under 3 quid and the mk4 cam belt kit was cheaper from VW than any other factor and was in fact an updated part too.
