Double post, sorry.
-
Hi fella - I know you've said nowt under the bonnet as you're using engine/gearbox. Are you using the subframe at all? If not, how much for it? Cheers.
-
Respraying would be a lot easier than making do with what i've got! lol. PM me some pics, that'd be great :D
-
Well, got her up on a ramp after work this evening and she's a bit poorly. really needs a new OS sill, both front wings, full exhaust system and a subframe, sadly. :| Am i right in thinking that subframes are tricky to get hold of? What about body panels like Sills and wings? As to the exhaust i'll just get one made up, possibly with a decat and fun stuff, but obviously the subframe needs doing first and foremost.

Holy moly that's pricey. I think I'll go with the one from vw heritage to be honest. Need to order some bits from there anyway, oil filters etc.

Where sells the valeo one, then?

hi folks - the heater matrix in my G60 has decided to do an impression of a sieve... Grand. Anyway, I've had a quick scout online and there's quite a few options for replacements, and I was wondering what other people have used/would recommend? VW Heritage list one for the Corrados at a very reasonable £27,i mentions being an 'upgraded Mk3' part. make is apparently Hans Pries (German make that supplies spares for VWAG and other german makes) http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Heater-Matrix-Mk2-3-Golf-Jetta-for-RHD-vehicle-1H2819031A_act_shop.product_pID_16384118.htm?crumbStartPage=1 GSF list a couple - 'Standard' quality for £33, or 'Premium' quality for a whopping £47.. No mention as to make of either, sadly. http://www.gsfcarparts.com/178vg0040 standard http://www.gsfcarparts.com/178vg0041 premium ECP list a couple too, the first being worryingly cheap. Just £12.84. :/ http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_1.8_1991/p/car-parts/car-cooling-parts-and-car-heating/heating/heater-matrix/?214440011&1&8964887352ac5dd8ef6cb234b3b9d6fc69ad75b4&000189 Second is a more expected £23: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_1.8_1991/p/car-parts/car-cooling-parts-and-car-heating/heating/heater-matrix/?214440180&1&f12a938ea332a278f97b666c874f403700977579&000189 Fastrads list one for £27.30 http://www.fastrads.co.uk/partfinder/?id=5&manu=Volkswagen&model=Corrado&year=1991&engine=1.8&trim=Standard%20Trim&ModelType=&doors=3&transmission=Manual&varientguid=141a3d86-1298-403b-bb28-7290c9bc4b0b&varient=1.8%20G60%203d Any ideas? Personally I'm leaning towards the VW Heritage one - it's reasonably priced, and they wouldn't sell it if it was crap...

How to: Open a stuck door
Thursdave replied to OllieVR6's topic in [Archive] Wiki Submissions & Collaboration
bit of a necro but there we go - this guide is brilliant. Managed to get my drivers door open in about 15 minutes (only took about 5 once I actually found a coat hanger and not some random peice of string.) It takes quite a bit of force to lift that little lever (at least it did on mine) and I used lots of WD40 - mine was just very stiff and seized from being sat for 8 months... Cheers! -
Right, drivers door open - nothing even broken, just seized from being sat for a while. Sorted with copious amounts of maintenance spray and a handy wire coat-hanger. Sadly it looks as though the heater matrix is FUBAR'd - both footwells are sopping and there's a nasty brownish staining coming from where the centre console meets the carpet. Any good places to get a new one?

National what?
-
She's lovely. Drivers door doesn't open but I'll strip that down this evening. Then she's into the workshop on Saturday to have a good going over, see what needs changing. I love the colour, personally I don't think they look all that in some of the colours (white and yellow, mainly) but its gorgeous. Its all bone stock, as well. For the moment, at least... ;)

And she's mine. :D. A few quick pics.

Door handle repair kit..........THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE
Thursdave replied to daves16v's topic in Suppliers Forum
Hi Dave - my new corrado's drivers door doesnt open from the inside or the outside. Would this fix it? (haven't managed to get the door open yet to have a look inside) -
Hi Matt - Is the crank bolt something you can fit? Just bought a G60 and not sure if the bolt's been changed - better safe than sorry!
-
So, I've bought a Corrado G60. :D Fantastic condition - the odd cosmetic fault here and there (needs a bloody good clean and detail), but *everything* works - leccy spoiler, sunroof (tilt AND slide!), all the electrics, did the screwdriver on the G-lader trick to see what it sounded like - no clicks or clinks or untoward noises at all. Started first time, 6 BBS alloys, all with good tyres (the 4 on the car are practically new Conti's - bargain right there) and the limited test drive i could do (Up and down the guys drive) showed the brakes worked nicely (no ABS to worry about) and there were no clunks clanks or thunks from the suspension. The only problems is that the drivers door doesn't open, and there's a random puddle of water underneath the clutch pedal. Any ideas on how to remove the drivers door card while it's shut so I can have a play with the insides? Oh, I fitted in it fine. The sunroof could do with being a few inches wider so my head goes nicely in the slot for it, but provided I don't have the seat bolt upright I'm fine. :D

Yeah, I'm aware that depending on what it needs it might not be fore me. Still, it's worth a look. Taking a technician friend along so we should be able to get a pretty good idea of how much work needs doing. Cheers for the info about the head room, it might not be too bad - I fit nicely in old mk2 toyota MR2's, which being japanese aren't exactly huge, so it might be ok. Also, sod the rear seat, that's just extra boot space for me! :D

Hi folks. Newbie here! Always loved the looks of the 80's VW's and finally of an age to get classic insurance so ive started look for a corrado! Going to view one at the weekend which is listed as a 'minor refurb project' - is there a buyers guide anywhere i can have a read over? Also, what is the interior space like for giants (I'm 6'6"). Hope to be spending some more time round here soon ;) Dave.
