Is yours the later mk5 head? I've read somewhere that they have more adjustment on the vvt than the mk4?? Need to decide if it's going to be dta or something Need to get more info on the combustion chamber cc on all the 24v heads main focus at the moment is trying to find a good manifold/downpipe to have some actual gains Then the map

I know but when they had it to do the immobiliser they said it was shot(water damage) and with being away from longer than expected I had to try it, time was the enemy I already had dash out doing matrix too if it's possible to run turbos and supercharges on the ecu this can't be that bad, admitted not optimum Mapping is essential It's going to stealth to see how it's running when I get the chance But I think a built mk4 r32 head dta on a 2.8 would be nice Shame no one is near northamton to see this work in progress

Well nearly 1500miles in Has anyone Els noticed the front of the car be slightly higher with the 24v in instead of the 12v? Also I used to have a exhaust drone between 1500rpm-2500rpm which has gone(thank god) Happyer that it's quieter in the cabin now and it works a treat on the 12v obd2 ECU with the 12v sensor but the cam sensor needs a spacer And use the injectors and plugs from the 24v No trouble codes no funny behaviour I do feel the manifold cat and exhaust is restricting a bit due to size Any questions feel free to ask

Jim Bowen Corrado VR6 - New engine build
Mk3highline replied to Jim Bowen's topic in Members Gallery
This has got some info on some basics http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4761622-How-to-build-a-relatively-inexpensive-reliable-powerful-Vr6. I have not done the vr manifolds myself I'd port match them with a dremel you don't want to go too big and lose exhaust velocity As an example look at the supersprint e46 M3 stepped manifold If you have the time why not, I got the manifolds off my vr if you balls them up lol -
Black when I bought the engine it only has 60k odd miles on this engine Might explain the dodgy ecu With being a little colour blind its a bit hard to read plugs precisely But been using this for a while http://www.4secondsflat.com/Spark_plug_reading.html

How about the techtronics downpipe and ported out manifolds? -
Not any more there was a light grey/white mark on the tip Before I did the swap the plugs were all black
-
Changed the plugs other day and Is this the normal colour look a little light to me Sun light don't help Got same colour wit a wot and part throttle run too
-
Well with the remains of the pipe work I got left over from the 24v swap I found a hose with a one way check valve Where would it go on the mk4 4mo also Is there any benifit from using it?
-
Have you cleaned the throttle body and checked for broken split breather pipes? I've missed the breather/ vac pipes many times Also throttle cable
-
You could sniff the coolant and see if you can smell the exhaust fumes in them? If it's pressurised the coolant Obviously from cold or look to see if there are excessive air bubbles rising In The expansion tank

2.8 aue, modified vr6 downpipe standard cat scorpion middle and back with an ID of 2inch
-
Thank you Did the 120 mile drive home only used bit less than 1/4 tank it's not too bad
-
Thank you Also using the vr6 cooling set up, does the24v aux water pump flow the same way as the 12v Also which way round do the heater matrix pipes go on? Please
-
is it normal for the 24v to lean lower on the gearbox side?
-
It was a pipe missing from the head next to inlet port 6 think it's to do with the egr/secondry air injection
-
Wiring etc all done started first turn of key but revs stay at 3k And there is a noise sounds like a scraping got fresh oil in with new filter Does the throttle body need aligning The engine has been stood for few years don't want it so seize up
