1. Well of course the decision is yours :thumbleft: It's true that there are lots and lots of posts and people who will tell you that you should spray things into your charger, but I've never personally come across any Vw documentation mentioning scroll/displacer lubrication. There is documentation about venting unused boost which also carries emissions back through the charger instead of venting to atmosphere (Illegal to vent crankshaft emissions to atmos). If it's anything to go by, I've just checked my own history and my charger was last rebuilt in 2005! lol. With a 65mm pulley it initially reads way off the scale (15psi boost gauge) before the isv vents off. Before that, on the 68mm pulley it used to hit bang on 15psi. Years ago I tried the lubricating thing to see what the crack was, and it just didn't seem right to me. I ended up stripping my charger after a while and cleaning out all the accumulated crap that I'd sprayed in there, it was all built up and rendered the porting absolutely pointless. But again, the decision is yours mate.:thumbleft: I hope I don't come across like I'm shooting people down or anything, I just don't like to see how some people (Edit: Not aimed at anybody here) in the Vw scene can say something and everybody instantly takes it as gospel. One good example is somebody swore blind that the standard G60 camshaft was the absolute best option for the G60 over the likes of Schrick/Piper/Newmans...Until they started selling the Schrick camshaft of course. Neil.
2. It's all come from people who used to sell the 'special lubricant' Jim, one person in particular used to push it a lot, and well we all know what kind of person he ended up being... The charger bearings are lubricated by the line from the cylinder head and that's all it needs. There's nothing to lubricate inside the charger casing. Spraying anything in the intake of the charger simply collects at the top of the charger (When pushed there by the outside of the scroll) and gets nowhere near the inner apex strips that don't need lubricating anyway, especially not by a heavily breathing engine ventilation. It would have been really poor of Vw to rely on a brand new engine breathing heavily to lubricate anything, especially as it's not regulated, and will change with age. But as I say, there's nothing in there to lubricate. EDIT: An old, old! video, but still worth a watch for those who have never seen it.
3. No no no! Don't believe the hype about the boost return supposedly 'lubricating the charger'! It's rubbish! The boost return pipe is there for returning emissions/unused boost back into the intake and nothing else! You don't have to spray anything into your charger, and if you do, it will simply collect in big clumps and if anything, actually restrict/ruin any porting you have had done. Neil.
4. Do you mean the little rubber 'T' piece? If so then your ecu hose shouldn't be connected there. As for the t piece I've wondered the same, whether or not samco etc do a replacement.
5. Yep if using OE struts ^^ As the later setup has a deeper top spring plate, . Early. Late.
6. LOL. Yep, I say no tu th'old heat shield.:smug: Bought an alloy C.O pot boss. Will update soon.
7. Regards the headlights, look for some relays in the engine bay, possibly around the battery. It's common for people to (Badly) fit an uprated headlight loom and they can cause issues when they go wrong. As for the side repeaters, yep, either that or a careful bit of fishing around inside the hole in the wing with some wire, but in all honesty you can struggle to pull the bulb holder through. Neil.
8. Aye, a new wiper motor on a Corrado is only ever going to be a good thing lol. Gladly I only have one wiper to worry about but it's always worked fine anyway, much better than the twin setup! Oh and one of automatic the first thoughts when I had the twin inlet idea 'Must fabricate a heat shield' But I honestly don't think it needs it, I'm not sure why people bother tbh (On the Corrado G60 anyway) Even after having been sat ticking over for a while, I can lift the bonnet and it's not like there's a load of hot air hanging around. And in theory, while on the move a heat shield would actually restrict flow over the filters. Much like if you had a piece of alloy on the back of the radiator, air wouldn't flow through so well. Oh and there's a 4" neoprene cold air feed sat directly under the filters (In the old carbon can hole) which comes from the front bumper.
9. If you go for a standard PG engine bolt you don't need a washer. The newer bolts from Vw are fine to use rather than going for the mk1 Gti engine bolt. Neil.
10. Of course not Hasan, Here's the wiper motor, £25 quid delivered! :thumbleft:
11. Hmmm. Had a quick try with the laptop again this morning. It actually connected and worked! It downloaded a new driver for the usb > serial lead so I assume that's the reason it failed to connect last time. So I looked at logworks, and redownloaded the software to the innovate and boom! It's running absolutely spot on now! All well and good but I still don't have much faith in the innovate kit. Did some 2 minute tickover logging and I'm now averaging 14.5afr with a swing of only 1.1 afr which is pretty good. Still after some suggestions on a better kit (Whether I run it in it's own sensor bung or not) it looks like the AEM UEGO doesn't have logging software out of the box. Neil.
12. Well this morning I quickly fitted new passenger side window rollers. All cleaned up and regreased, much better. Just need some new door membranes and then I'll get the drivers side done too.

Bit of Emma Hewitt is always good to start my day. Or any other Vocal trance for that matter!
16. Cheers Wormy, yep, it does help in my ever growing thoughts that narrowband simulation is more and more problematic, the more I read about it! lol. If anyone has any more thoughts on these narrowband outputs and why they don't work as well as they should, I'd love to hear it. I'm sure I remember programming my LC1-/Innovate to work on narrowband around 14.7, but obviously there's more to it than that...
17. Hmmm. Looking at the AEM UEGO, but unsure of the logging capability?
18. Why thank you:thumbleft: Here is the thread with pics of the lines. Can't fault them myself. Neil.
19. Still having issues with this damn thing...I have been spitting muchos flames today! And then the next minute while pottering along, it spikes lean and starts spluttering! Very disconcerting! Can anyone recommend a wideband kit that gives a narrowband emulation and blows the innovate away? Ideally with good logging software etc too. Neil.
20. ^ Best hypocritical jokey post ever. LOL.:thumbleft: You should ENTER into these PRESSING discussions more often.:smug: In all seriousness, fine here too...obviously. Not sure what the reason could be? Strange one.
21. Tensioner extension? Do you mean the modded adjustable ones from the likes of jabba? As long as the belt twists roughly 90deg then you are ok. Best with the shorter belt as above really, and if you do have an adjustable tensioner just tweak the tension until it feels right (90deg) Neil.
22. I think he just wants the satnav to come on with ignition/engine running and stay on, rather than having to physically turn it on. :thumb: Fag lighter feed?
23. Cheers Clumpy, it's with help from the man above who made the flanges and pipework up:smug:
24. :thumbleft: Here's the next job done! I wanted a twin inlet setup but wanted some specific specs... Cone filters but didn't want cotton gauze for obvious reasons. Internal diameter of the charger flanges to be as big as possible (Others tend to be 54mm) So with the help of a good mate (Manny) available here we made up a kit for it. Found some PAPER! filters, and large ones at that! And the charger flanges are a superb 60mm internal diameter! Flanges and pipe, mine are anodised black, but other cool colours can be had!B Red/Blue etc. The PAPER filters, large ones with 70mm inlets/necks. Pipework consisting of: 2x 45deg reducers, 70mm > 63mm. 1x 180deg 63mm. Excuse the steam in the pics as I'd just washed it. Oh, and some pics of the different ride heights lol. Full height! Face down, a$$ up! Face up, A$$ down! And all down!
