  7. thanks guys, there was a little dust knocking about,on the underside of the bonnet too,but it hasnt appeared since i got it back on the road. i am sort of losing the idea of this topic arent i? it is horrible having to drive it day to day with the problem too. next thing to try is a secondhand dizzy off henny,to rule out the hall sender. i dont know if this is the problem or not though,it dosnt really misfire like its losing spark...
  8. aye, dont wanna sound like an ass  but thats why i measured from wheel center to wheel arch, diffarent sized wheels/tyres will give strange results when measured to the floor. . .
  9. cheers gavin, seems im giving you a bit to think about lately  have i pissed everyone else off? do the pressures sound correct? id just like to be sure incase i do have pressure probs in the future, thing is i dont know if theyre the wrong ones from previous owners? neil.
  10. aye i thought as much, would be nice to be 110% sure though. none of the colours relate to the sunroof/window wiring do they? neil. :)
  11. ive just gone through my receipts, and in 6 months of owning my first rado!,ive spent, £3130  neil.
  12. iirc the abf was the lump used by vw motorsport in there rally cars. and also iirc it produced over 240?bhp? and had t-bodies,running 8 injectors rings a bell too? 8)
  13. ok,took them out 1 by 1 today... do these markings sound right/what are they? side of head: 0.15-0.45 :? big black one. oil filter head nearest block: 1.2-1.6 big black one. oil filter head furthest from block: max 150c,small black one. i think this is the mfa oil temp? neil.

  17. aye,i can imagine m8.
  18. better pics of the tensioner,i noticed today that the eye on the top is threaded so i removed the washers from inside and tweaked the eye a little. pic showing how i can squeeze the belt too, dont know if its normal or not? ps:today it started the backfiring thing again, just for 10 secs or so on tickover and then cleared as usual again :( i think its just one of the probs ill never sort tbh. checked the ignition timing too,bts disconnected at 2.5k showed bang on 6deg,with bts connected it was around 20deg iirc, sound alright? neil.
  19. ive been checking that all my fuses are good today for the hell of it,noticed quite a few wires around the fuse box that arent going anywhere. can anyone confirm wether they should be or not? apparently my sunroof should close with the key,but it dosnt, anything to do with any of these? cheers, neil.
  20. ah,another niggle to sort then. cheers m8.
  21. mines a 92,later chassis model number,what ya reckon?
  22. mmm, looks like ive got another problem with mine then  both windows go up on the key,but the sunroof dosnt close, any ideas? neil.
  23. not unless someones hiding under your bonnet and twiddling your nobs  or the linkages/spindles are worn. my 2p... m8 if you have an 1800 16v rado, you need to carry out what i would have loved to have done! :D ended up with the g instead though  you have the perfect oppurtunity to throw a 9a 2.0 16v lump in(straight swap),and run without a cat!,no mot probs,no power loss. use the kr cams and then throw the carbs on! :D the most important thing is to be sure that the carbs arent tired, maybe a rebuild would be a good idea first, and then take them to be set up by someone who knows what they are doing. ps:theres a manifold on ebay i think...
