Im looking at these three and wondering if its gonna be more beneficial to have more degree's on the inlet side? Schrick - 268/276 Dbillas - 270/264 L+sCartec? - 284/272 What do people think that the l+scartec one would be like? Anyone know the lift etc for the above cams, and the standard g60 cam? Neil.
-
Still unsure which one i need...
-
Cheers for the update mate 8) Seems the piper is a good bet then for your set up... Does anyone have the standard values of the standard cam? And anyone any experience with the newmans 264? Neil.
-
Cheers mate, standard head aye...It had new stem seals etc etc a while ago so ill be sticking with it for a bit. I have seen the standard cam mentioned, but surely a little extra lift/duration with minimal overlap will see good use of boost thats built up in the inlet side of things?

Ressurection! Guys...Im considering camming mine, i don't mind a slightly lumpy idle and id like more umph mid range/all round really. Everyone seems to say that people always suggest the shrick 268/272? but i don't actually see that many people running them and then actually suggesting them. Just as many voters for this cam as the newmans really from reading quite a few threads. My current power graph is here> http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/rollingroad/graph/rr.gti_070608/riley.jpg so what would people suggest? Current spec is: full blend charger making 14/15psi. sierra cosworth fmic 68mm pully and sns stage 5 chip ported/polished t/body decat with standard exhaust system rsr outlet I will be going for red top injectors, 4 branch zaust manifold and full system and then a remap so any thoughts appreciated. :) Neil.

Cheers mate...can't get to the car right now but im sure i remember it just being black!? :cuckoo: Ive got a shopping cart full of bits on corrado-teile and i don't wanna lose it!
-
How do lads... Im looking at buying a knock sensor, but the site ive found lists two, and i don't have the corrado here with me to check the length etc... Can anyone confirm which one i need? The website states: My chassis number is: WVW 22250 2NK 011 422 and date of manufacture: 10/04/1992 Cheers, Neil.

I reckon it 'should' be fine mate, hopefully anyway  Its when nitrous is 'banged in' with no subtle rise that things mainly go wrong. It should end up t least 350 brake after the other new bits planned. 8) Reyt, ive started doing other stuff as per usual  So i need to keep track. Need to sort nitrous jets/controller/bottle and mount bottle. Need to sort a boss for the new ally pipe which will house the nitrous fogger. Need to rebuild front suspension. Rebuild rear suspension. Paint mk1 golf number plate holder. Fix new black mesh to bumper. Fit nitrous solenoid brackets. Remove exhaust manifold and system. Service with oil/filter/air filter/fuel filter/breather gasket/air screw/lambda etc etc. New alloy pipe which needs a boss welding on, so i can drill/tap for the nitrous nozzle. Front bumper removed again! Bye bye to the perfectly legal number plate  If i ever do anything as silly again, i want a b0llocking off someone! New black mesh to go in its place. Mk1 golf number plate holder requiring slight 'tweaking' Holes drilled in bumper vents, for bolting up the mk1 golf plate holder. Test fitted, ive gone for a swept back mounting. Then sand blasted it in the chaps unit next door ready for painting. And thats where im up to. Neil.
-
Did you find 1?? Dunno if powerflow can make 1?? Nah, not as yet mate...Gonna be removing the old manifold/system soon so ill let ya know how i get on 8) Neil.
-
Good stuff, cheers mate 8) Neil.
-
Is that for the screw AND the seal mate? :) Cheers guys, muco appreciated. Neil.
-
Spot on cheers mate :) Neil.
-
Sound, cheers mate that'll do me. :) You don't have a part number for it by any chance? Can't find the screw on etka :( Neil.
-
Anyone know if they are available from vw? The little rubber 'o' ring on the air/idle screw. I can't see it on etka? A part number for it, or maybe the whole screw with new seal would be cool. Cheers, Neil.

Thats just the type of thing ive been looking for :) viewtopic.php?f=17&t=75054

Its a 125 brake horse nitrous kit mate :D I've still got the running problem which hopefully may be sorted before it goes back on the road...Im planning a big zaust manifold with a new full system to make sure its all leak free (current sytem blows a bit) and also trying another lambda which is definately for a model not running a cat convertor...then a remap! Hopefully the problem will show up/be cured while pumping the power up a bit...And then the nitrous can be used :D The cossie intercooler seems to work really well, noticeably well infact! I didn't want to just go for 'bigger is better' really as i like the idea of it still keeping all of the available boost pressure held in the system. Its definately sharper on hot days :D Video here shows how it goes - currently running 206 brake horse. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=S7zW0oWKyC8 Ive decided the silicone hose just won't do...Ive tried tightening it with a spanner and mmmmmm. Not happy with it. Oh, and the thread on the fogger nozzle is tapered, which i forgot! So it does end up tight in the nut. Gonna have to have a boss welded into some ally pipe and then tap it for the fogger nozzle. Tonight i reshaped the fuel solenoid bracket and painted it along with the nitrous solenoid bracket. Pics are showing dust after i swept up  (paint was dry though!) And the line which will run from the nitrous solenoid through the bulk head and to the bottle.

Well im just mocking up at the mo. Although things are pretty solid/paintable/useable anyway tbh... Thats one sorted...Onto the next. Three holes, 2 for the rocker cover studs and one for a cut down bolt on the corner as there was already a thread tapped into the rocker cover. Silicone hose with a hole drilled in it... Still need to secure this properly. Its sits in a lot further when tight. Im ordering 125bhp jets  Obviously with a progressive controller! Im going to 'up the power' before the nitrous is run too! Neil.

Tbh the jabba stuff above is a nice bit of kit...The real problem is that open air filters aren't the best idea as far as protecting the g-lader from small particles of crap. If you end up with a grey paste type crap in your charger/outlet its because dirt has tuned into a fine gritty paste. :gag: Id also say that the standard air box with the snorkel removed will flow just as well as an open air filter. Neil.

Well im bored waiting for the new coilover collars so i started making a bracket for sommet...Excuse the filth on the car...it has been parked up for a good while :( Bit of scrap ally. Cut/bent etc... Radiator fan relay location... Remove relay. Drill holes in bracket and bolt it up... To be continued. :D
-
Perfectly fine for mot mate :D Just given it a much needed wash...Haven't had the time or been in the mood lately. Gets full of crap going up to my unit...
-
It wasn't you that outbid me then was it mate? £32? I had to bloody well go out and hope for the best.
-
Its great fun aint it mate? :| I did have a good look at the crank/pully and as far as i can remember it was all mint. With it being off the road for a while i may have another look at it actually, get some pics etc just to be doubly sure. We got what we expected for the mk1 cheers mate...If things were different though we wouldn't of sold it had someone offered even 25k for it...Its just something we never wanted to sell. :( The guy could tell we were really upset about selling it, as he was getting the deposit out me and my dad were looking at each other saying...Are we doing the right thing here or what?
-
Any of you guys know how much the OE rear beam bushes are from VW? Im going to replace mine and was thinking of using polyurethane ones but im not so sure now...I don't drive like a lunatic these days, and the roads around here are pretty bad so i think Genuine vw ones will be best. Neil.
-
Cheers for the info KipVR, i'll definately keep that in mind. Im gonna see what the relacements from fk are made of first and go from there... Had the mk1 for 6 years, and have really, really enjoyed owning it. This one here. Definately regrest the sale even though it hasn't completed yet, will never own another car like it let alone a mk1 :( And yep, i have indeed had the crank pully off when i replaced the bolt with a mk1 gti one plus the washer. Why do you ask mate? :) Springs/shocks would be great...Dampers adjusted perfectly to match the ride height etc. But its the lack of clearance for the Borbets :( I can't get rid as i spent two weeks painting em

Yeah it is...I understand it as disimilar metal corrosion and its bound to happen like you say. Just not something you think about at the time of purchase i guess. I wouldn't know how to go about making a complaint etc, especially with them being a german company...And tbh will it be worth the hassle? I don't get much time to myself as it is with work etc... Kw do indeed use plastic/composite collars as a lad on Volksdevil.com has just mentioned them. Im unsure which way to go. I don't really want to buy new coilovers as the ride quality and the actual inserts (koni) are half decent. Im just wondering if a local company could make up some collars in stainless? Neil.
