Soak them in furniture polish (pledge type stuff) and it tends to rub off easier...Unless its that stuff that is hard. Neil. :)
  2. Nah, ive chopped the lambda signal wire right at the ecu not long ago to erradicate it as being a problem...And it still did the slow revving/popping/farting :( What i can't understand is that the lambda voltage still fluctuates when i connect to a cold bts, or is that because the ecu reads temp from the maf for that? Anyway, im pretty sure its not a lambda problem now...But yet the problem appears when it gets up to temp/fluctuating lambda voltage :? The problem dissapears if i: Hold wot switch closed. or Connect to a cold bts (with car upto temp) Ive got headache with thinking about it and racking my brain :bad-words:
  3. Ive just noticed a differnce in the above video to this one> http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=abpd39YRJOk In the one in above post, when im blipping throttle the lambda voltage fluctuates but it dropsdown into low numbers... Where as in the video in this post, with a cold bts it stays in the high numbers. I don't know if this is an obvious thing to happen, or if it tells me sommet?
  4. Ive got some g60 rear calipers with braided lines that someone can have if they fix it? Its not a lot i know but im struggling a bit
  5. Cheers mate, really appreciate the offer...just a shame you are so far away :( Would cost me a bit to get there, and i can't really afford to put petrol in the daily motor at the mo... We need a bloody g60 specialist elsewhere in the country instead of just the one down south :? :( Took a pic of plug no.1 earlier...bare in mind its been running for a good while with the wot switch held closed, looks like its been running hot to me? and obviously a bit rich. Oh i dunno... Just uploading a video of the lambda reading while running too. Oh and ive set the ign timing at 8deg btdc instead of 6 to see if that helps, but had to leave the car. Neil.
  6. Aye, ive tried various new switches/tested them/and even tried different throttle body's :(
  7. That seems expensive from vw :? The problem with the gsf ones is that they are rated at 14v instead of 14.4v and 90% of the time this means you have to blip the throttle to make the battery light go out... Not a major problem like. Neil. :)
  8. Hey no worries man! :D Not tried red tops...One, because there are sh|t loads of g60's running this basic spec with no probs, and two, the problem just appeared from nowhere after parking up. :( Also...Im unsure that its fuel related, anyone agree with the below? Surely, the wot switch supplying more fuel couldn't be so precise that once held closed, it runs absolutely perfect? On the other hand, the wot switch being closed, and changing something electrically, could explain the precision between running perfect and running crap? Hope thats come out how i thought it... Basically...The wot switch either makes it run very good (held closed) or absolute crap, not held closed. So its more of a leccy switch from running good to crap? If it was fueling, would it not be less precise, like with the wot switch held, maybe run better but still pop now and again or badly overfuel? I dunno :(
  9. Id pop the voltage regulator out of the alternator (two phillips head bolts) and check the brushes... If they are considerably worn/cracked id replace the regulator, tbh id replace it anyway as its only about £15 quid from vw (don't use a £10 quid one from gsf) :) Neil.
  10. Cheers guys, its not the diag plugs as they are under the gaitor... One of them has 12v+ when the ignition is on. There are 3 plugs all together, and the connector block actually links the 12v to the other 2 plugs... Just wondered really...Gauges is a good possability i reckon. :) Neil.
  11. Im wondering what i can give someone (i have no money) if they can just come and fix it :( Maybe take the feckin car?
  12. Cheers mate :D Just trying to get it ready for v.a.g 2008 8) My next trick was to install the 75 shot of nitrous, which equates to around a 150 shot on a g60  But i don't have the money to carry it out... Neil.
  13. Refitted alternator, looks better i reckon!
  14. About a fiver if i remember rightly mate, and a 3 minute job :) Just don't overtighten the new sender...Just trying to remember which one it is (of the 3 iirc) as its been a while since i messed with a valver... Neil.
  15. Sorry mate, misunderstood... If its a valver, then there will be a sensor in the expansion tank and one on the side of the cylinder head (single pin - 3 of them look the same) It sounds like the one on the side of the head isn't working, which makes the "coolant too hot" light flash :)
  16. What model/year is it mate? :) The digital display will be your oil temp. Neil.
  17. Anyone fancy coming to have a look at it? :( Im in Burnley/Lancs... Anyone with some magic tools? wideband jobbie etc? Its niggling my head like you wouldn't believe after 3 damn years! Don't really know where else to turn. :(
  18. Cheers guys 8) Rolex, cheers mate :D How you doing man? Ive just got back from the unit after heading back up there...the alternater was doing my head in, in the above pics  Did the pully and fan in silver too.
  19. No worries mate! :D Each to their own and all that, and i really don't like bonnet bra's   I just think they are to be used as intended and do nothing for the looks! I love the yellow headlights etc, and tbh they don't photograph too well, they always look really light and sickly? But they are darker/meaner in the flesh...and give off a really nice light too. Its what keeps things interesting eh? And i appreciate the feedback, One thing i never wanted was for it to become a 'scene car' thats really well known or anything... Ive wanted black centered borbet a's for years for example, so what better way than painting brand new ones to please yaself...not others :D Never know though, i may try something different with the front end if i don't sell it which i should have done (moneys super tight!) Neil.
  20. Bloody hell Junkie, will be some work to turn it into a mk1  I just can't stop meself... I repolished the edges/vw logo on the rocker cover. Masking up was fun! Painted...Did the isv too. Masking tape removed, quite happy with it :D And refitted, amazing what difference a bit of paint can make.Ive never really bothered tidying the engine bay with the problems its had... Oh, and tried a black g60 badge on the grill, don't like it yet... Neil.
  21. Jim, are those spring collars still knocking about mate? :) Neil.
