The pictures bring back terrible memories of my first encounter of G60 timing  Ps:There is actually a hole in the lower cambelt cover to line up the intermediate shaft...but its near on impossible to see when the crank pully is fitted. You can split the pully by removing the 4 allen headed bolts but they can seize on there pretty tightly. Neil.

Hi m8, The crank bolts are very tight... ideally the crank pully and the water pump pully need to come off to align the intermediate shaft. But ive never bothered...what you can do is just loosley place the belt around the pullies with the lower cover still in place, and just point the rotor arm at the notch in the dizzy housing.Do this while your other marks are lined up.(camshaft and crankshaft) If you were to remove the crank bolt, its a case of a long extension stuck out past the wing and a long bar for leverage, you will need to stop the engine turning over by any means you can.Either 1st gear and someone hard on the brakes or jamming the flywheel,This can stress the clutch springs though. And once the crank bolt is removed, its advisable to replace it with a new one.Either the uprated G60 one or one from a mk1 gti along with the washer too. Neil.

Its been the most unreliable car ive owned :( But all my other cars were superbly reliable! Neil.

Id say its possibly worth a little more...im a firm believer in paying good money for truly 'better' cars... My mum got £2200 for her 1990 1800 16v mid last year,it was absolutely immaculate, wish id have bought it actually :(

Welcome! :D Opel manta 400 is my favourite car of all time bar none!!! Would swap the corrado and the house for an original one anyday! Good luck with the corrado search, check all leccy bits, sunroof and rear spoiler are common'ish problems. Neil.

Very true 8) Ive currently got a mates G60 in my unit... Started off wanting to repair a broken exhaust manifold stud. So far we have done that x3!,as well as stripping/cleaning the tappets, replacing the valve stem seals,re-seating/grinding in the valves. Got to get it all built back up now,new cambelt and tensioner, new mk1 gti crank bolt and washer, all new top end gaskets, new exhaust manifold and downpipe gaskets etc etc... Have both had a few idea's as far as the bloody water pump bolts/crank bolt   Neil.

Procedure with most products is... Vac the whole interior from top to bottom thouroughly. Test the chosen product on a small inconspiuous area. Apply product with even distribution (sometimes slightly more on bad area's) Now either agitate with an interior brush (good to have a bucket or similar to dip the brush into) then vac,or simply leave and vac. Neil. :)

Yep,joined with 6x 17mm headed nuts part number:N102 090 05 And the gasket between the manifold/downpipe:533 253 115C Please double check part numbers :) The nuts can be gotten from underneath the car with long extensions and sometimes a bit of leverage, the studs can sometimes come out too. Neil.

Yep. Lasted years on the mk1,in fact its still on there super duper water tight  The silicone type stuff is whats used originally though...

Aye,too true! Ive split the lead on the end and cant see anything obvious wiring wise apart from a broken earth pin on the side...possibly the cause of it. Anyone know the full effect that this would have had on the G60? ecu/fuelling/spoiler etc...it just seems to drive a bit more steady :? Cheers guys. Neil.

I think there is a powerflow place in southampton which is a 30 minute drive from me.. may be worth a try?? Yeah for sure 8) Although the quality of work can vary depending on the guy doing the job obviously... Good luck with it,should look sweet. Neil.

I use local motor factor type places, but its likely that places such as frost.co.uk sell it :) Neil.

Cool 8) No powerflow type places around your way Mike? Ps:bits were posted first thing this morning. Neil.

Sorted it :!: cd changer lead :!: Pulled it out of the changer which made no difference to the drain on the battery. While it was still plugged in at the stereo end, wobbling the opposite end made the drain come and go... Anyone got a cheap sony cd changer lead? :D And cheers guys 8) Neil.
