  1. Cheers Steve :D I had a few comments from people across the forums about the 'hints and tips' page on my site being a little basic...but i do believe that the basics are an important step to tweaking your routine etc...So ive still tried to keep the basics on the new forum, but just gone into a little more detail. Just keeps things easy to understand for everyone that way,no matter what the level of car care knowledge. :) Damn! time to close microsoft frontpage and drag my a$$ to bed! Neil.
  2. No worries guys :D I really do try to keep things easy to read/understand and follow...Hope it helps! I will try and add more when i get time :( I enjoy trying to pass on the info in an easy to understand way. Neil.
  3. Just to expand on this... Imagine you own a red car (good example as it shows up uva/uvb damage notoriously well) This car is polished once or twice, and then waxed to death after that. The wax...no matter how good, will not protect the paint from uva/uvb radiation,or surface scratches from dust dirt 100% of the time its on the car at 100% efficiency. The paint will loose colour, become cloudy and become easily damaged/scratched...therefore fading. Polish.polish.polish.No matter how dead set people are/can be on wax, polishing must not be forgotten as it keeps the paint fresh/clean...and then when a wax is applied, the wax will work as best it can.But...again,polishing should still commence now and again to keep on top. Basically dont aim for a routine of washing/waxing,its not the ideal combination as you are leaving out a vital link. Careful and regular (as needed) washing, polishing now and again, and waxing more often will kepp the paint at its best. Sorry to go on one a bit  Neil.
  4. :thumbleft: spot on. A few people tend to think the paint cleaner should be used before the scratch-x...but scratch-x being an abrasive (although a diminishing one) will take care of anything that the paint cleaner would be used for.And using the paint cleaner first will make the scratch-x a little harder to remove. So yep,scratch-x can be used a good few times, and as Rob says if used in succession...First application should be put on liberally and not really 'worked' Remove this, and then with the second application, apply it in a more targeted and concentrated way. And you are right to want to polish a few times too,its often a forgotten thing these days...everyone just seems to be mad on wax! Basically,if you use each product till it does the best job it can do,then the product after that will work to its full potential...same with the product after that...and so on. Think of it like painting a car, preperation is key,and if prepped to the full potential, then the end result will always be better and last longer. Neil. :)
  5. Nice one m8,been waiting to get around to doing this on mine. Does the job eh 8) Neil.
  6. Aye,they do im afraid m8 :( Although if you have a spare bulb holder you can fit that inline until you find resisters... :)
  7. Rob,items despatched at dinner time for ya... ps:site back up after a slight accident. Cheers,Neil. :)
  8. Sorry guys...These are the ones you want. Flash perfectly orange with film tinted lights. Neil. :)
  9. Hi Rob, Thats a bugger :( No problem though, fire me a list of products over via pm or email and a cheque will be fine? Will get them to you before ultimate dubs. Neil. :)
  10. ps:my geared lever still had all three prongs...but was still lifting/bending when moving cable... Snapped the 3 prongs off and bolted the lever in,mint.
  11. If you are,and the heater controls have always been a bit dodgy (direction wise) If the geared lever (which cable goes onto) is bending/lifting when you move the cable you can do the following. The geared lever is held with 3 prongs (prone to snapping) and in the center there is a pin/bucket that supposedly hold it in there by pushing the 3 pins open. You need a 5mm bolt with a flat screw head/a suitable washer and a lock nut. Remove the pin/bucket from the lever/remove the lever and snap off the 3 prongs (if they are still there) sit the lever back in place, and push the bolt/washer through from inside the heater box.The washer should sit perfectly in a circular cut out,and the bolt head will clear the flap that moves. Stick your lock nut on the top outside (inside the geared lever) and nip it up while moving the cable...keep going until it feels smooth/free but works fully. Just done this on mine and the controls work better than they ever have. Neil.
  12. No, but sparing the rest of us from your bullschitt would be nice though. I wrote a big reply but i cant be bothered. Just a few words for Kevin... Kiss my ar$e mate.I dont take kindly to being called a bullsh|tter/liar,or having my ability questioned for no reason. Ill say it again so your brain can register/process what im saying.Id speak slowly for you but its hard to convey through a keyboard... 1/I have expressed honest opinion from corrado ownership experience. 2/I have said i do not like the design/reliability of the corrado. 3/I have tried my absolute best to enjoy the corrado, and any time its needed anything i have done it myself.Ive put more effort into it than you have yours (do you like that? having your ability/enthusiasm questioned for no reason) and i am dissapointed that i feel this way about a vw. If you dont like it,tuff sh|t mate. :? Sorry that i will not lie and pretend that all is rosy,as it seems to be in your little corrado world. God help anyone else who has anything bad to say about the corrado,The guy cant handle it. Thats all im saying, and if you are going to call me a bullsh|tter/liar just because i dont like the corrado through my own experience...do it to my face. Neil.
  13. Yes.Mr high and mighty  Do you want me to bullsh|t and say corrado ownership has been a joy when it hasn't?...sorry but im an honest kind of guy.And if you read properly...and understand the issues ive had then you would back off and understand where im coming from...much like the people who have pm'd me saying "Riley, cant believe you are selling after all the effort you have put in" "Riley, such a shame that you feel how you do after the work you have done to the car" Etc Etc... And yes...imo which you wont ever change  160 horse from a 1800 charged 8v isnt superb, and neither is 190 horse from a near 3.0 vr6. And if i didnt know anything about engine design or engineering...whoopie do...does that make me a lesser enthusiast? Who do you think you are? As for the title of "dubber" that must be your age creeping in...its a widely used term, accept it. And dont dare say im not a real enthusiast... Ive spent many late nights...2/3/4am working on the corrado, one time when me and the g/f were supposed to be going on a driving holiday but it broke down. I was up at the unit until midnight last night refitting heater matrix and dashboard, what were you doing? swigging beer? or sleeping? Again,if you read properly, you will see that ive done every job myself...and ive said that i really want to like the corrado, but it hasn't been the best experience. So dont have a go at me because of my own personal experience. Neil.
  14. Added a 'How To' for the meguiars scratch-x. :) Neil.
  15. Nice 8) Always liked the idea of the karmann cab kit on a hardtop 8) Neil.
  16. Nice, enjoy it man 8) Id lose the wheels too,15's best for a mk1 imo both looks and handling wise... Neil.
  17. Pm replied to John :) Can anyone stick a value on it please? im gonna get it up and running (hopefully) after tea tonight. And ill probably be putting an advert together for it when i get back or tommorow...so any help appreciated. Neil. :)
  18. Lancers off the cards...insurance is rediculous
  19. Whats it worth guys? :) spec can be seen in the link in my sig, also got some spares like headlights(tinted) door handles/indicater and wiper stalks/switches/a sierra cosworth 4x4 intercooler (not fitted) a bumper which has been modified for the intercooler to fit/and probably more i cant think of right now...Will also possibly have another set of rims (not even fitted after full refurb,9x16 all round) Neil. :)
  20. Waaaaay too much for me to reply to...and its not my thread anyway  But the decision is made, after having just removed the heater matrix...The corrado is going as soon as the new one is fitted. Vr6storm...how much is a service on your porka? My dads cost a fortune at (insert name here-forgotten it) in fact...hartech? standard service...no new expensive parts required... And lastly...i still believe that the design/engineering is absolute crap. Its all well and good fitting mk4 rear calipers, uprated headlight looms/new door handles etc etc but hows about buying a car that already has decent lights/door handles  brakes etc...And why should the door handles need lubing up? They dont tend to break on same cars of the era and even older! The door handles are crap, the levers are made of cheap alloy. Anyway,again...im really sorry i feel like this, and please dont think that mine hasnt been looked after  jesus, its had everything it ever needed,i fitted new door handles within the first bloody month of owning it  Never mind all new top end gaskets/switches/senders/cambelt and tensioners/suspension/full port/polished r1 charger/new oil feeds etc etc etc... Ill always have the mk1 (and the sportline/concours mk1) in the family. :) Neil.
  21. Thats looking really good Rob! 8) steve @ ,have to disagree m8,i think they look quite agressive, especially with that well designed  intercooler unlike the g60 joke outfit...Each to their own though! :D http://www.lancerregister.com//attachment.php?s=&postid=1362214 http://www.lancerregister.com//attachment.php?s=&postid=1362286
