  1. Cheers guys, but it is strange, does look as though it was made for something :?
  2. Ever since I've had my C I've though that there should be something running along the top of the front of the dash, just where it comes really close to the windscreen. There are even what look like mounting holes for something (see picture). Should there be something here, or is it destined to be just a barren void??...

    JMC's G60

Fitted my SWG scuttle cover today. Experienced the same issues as a lot of the other folks have - needed to enlarge one of the windscreen wipe holes, and grind away some of the bracket holding the wiper motor before I could get it to lie flat(ish). Previous owner has used mastic AND the clips when he replaced the windscreen the last time, so it was a fight geting the old 3 piece one off. Looks good though - miles better than it did.
  4. Fitted my SWG scuttle cover today. Much swearing, grinding, trimming and the occasional use of double sided 3M tape, but all done now. Looks fab, and well worth the effort....

Had a look at the mirrors and script looks pretty permanent. They're DDI ones though so if you're interested, have a word with Anh and see if he can make you a set without the etching....
  6. Sure thing mate. I got the aluminium rings from Zarman as well....
  7. Good question. I got this from G-Werks as a full setup, but if you wanted to make your own (and you had a K&N filter the right size spare) you can probably cut down an old boost return pipe to do it.
  8. It did, but only very slightly. Fitting the whole kit has made a huge difference, though, and if you are after the quiet life I can fully recommend it.
  9. I bought mine as a job lot from someone here, that included callipers, carriers, pads, discs and hoses (it really was a case of caveat emptor). The hoses I was sold were too short, so needed to get more of those, and there were no (safe) bolts for the carriers. As for places to sort this lot..... Badger 5 (01453 827936) should be able to sort you out with the carriers and bolts or atleast be able to point you in the right direction - he sells the full Brembo kits for £745 according to his website. Hoses - Goodridge. Discs from Seat (or anybody that makes an equivalent 305mmx28mm). Callipers, possibly one of the Porsche breakers or Ebay (there are a few on the web if I recall, and make sure you get ones which are wide enough for the Seat discs). Pads - GSF. Check with G-Werks as well as they do brake kits (not Porka ones, but Darren did fit mine for me). Hope that helps.
  10. I've got Boxster calipers on my G60. They attached with the Brembo carriers from the Seat and also use the 305mm Seat discs. Things to watch out for - make sure you get the Boxster S callipers (the Boxster ones are made for 24mm wide discs, while the S ones are for the 28mm discs which are the same width as the Seat ones). I bought mine from someone on here and only found out that they were Boxster ones (not the S ones) when we tried to fit them - lets just say, not happy :x You'll need new hoses too, as the fittings are different to the Rado ones.
  11. If you want a true reading on your a/f ratio, a narrow band isn't going to be much use. The one thing mine did tell me was when my lambda stopped working though, so even though it's not particularly useful across the range, it has paid fo itself :D Have a search for the wideband info on here, as that would be the way to go for the most accurate results.
  12. I've got an Autometer boost gauge, mounted up on top of the dash, Leon. Should be a picture of it in my members gallery thread. Wouldn't bother with an electrical boost gauge - better (and a lot easier) to stick with the manual ones, as you can take a feed of the vac/boost line going to the back of the MFA.
  13. I upgraded to a 90A alternator and found the battery didn't run down anywhere near as much as with my old 65A one (found it in a breakers for £40). I make a lot of short journeys, so I've found the upgrade really useful.
  14. I got this from G-werks. As I understand it they were created to quieten down the Lysholm systems. To me, it does look very like a boost return pipe, cut down and a K&N filter on the end....
  15. See the picture at the top of the thread....
  16. Had this on for a few days now, nd though I'd give a bit of feedback on it. Have to say I quite like the new noise. I'm running a toothed belt kit, and the whole thing sounds like an electric motor. Still get the dump valve like noise and changing gear at high revs as well, but it's just quietened it down in the mid range.

    G60 belt slip?

My toothed belt was on for about 3 months before the belt decided to part company with the car (on the south circular at 7PM one evening - fun). I'd even fitted the s**t shield from the VR6 on the underside of the belt to try and keep out stones. If it goes again really quickly I'll be going back to the old system. I'm running a 68mm and haven't noticed much if any difference in boost pressure at the top end with it. Bottom line is, some people will love them and be happy with the possibilty of having them break regularly, for others the chance that they could let rip at any time is not enough of a draw...

    Bonnet release question

Thanks TimmyVR, the lever does feel really slack, so fingers crossed that it is only the clip that has broken (even though I understand VW no longer sell the clip, should be able to make something up).
  19. Just had a nasty ping sound when I went to release my bonnet. Now the cable is really slack, and the bonnet is shut down. Not good. Had a look and the little clip (which is a weak spot on these) is broken. Now I've had some problems with the bonnet release for a while, in that it wouldn't spring back on it's own (the lever had to be pushed back into position before I could shut the bonnet). Pulling on the cable now does nothing. The question is (for those to whom it has happened before) what does it feel like when that little clip on the lever breaks (other than ***** annoying)?? Does it still give any resistance (just wondering if the clip had been broken for ages and the cable has finally snapped).

    JMC's G60

_leon_, They're 7.5" 16" ET30 (wanted to give it a bit wider stance, without using spacers). I've never had any problems with clearance or scraping from them and I'm running with a 40mm drop. Hope that helps.... :D
  21. Glad you are happy Jonathan Whoa, that was fast - response even before I'd managed to edit my post. Cheers again mate....
  22. Yeah, I know, it's all about the noise.... Still, after a nice blat along the M3, all I can say is, I have less of a pounding head now. Thanks Darren, :thumbleft: excellent piece of kit, really does make a big difference.
  23. Ok, after a swift trip to Halfords, I've got the necessary hose and clips. Here's a picture of it fitted (along with the old oil catch tank feed, which i may/may not remove). All I need now is a cruise on the motorway to see what it's like....
  24. Ok Darren, will get off my lazy behind and go get the right bits....
  25. In a quest to slightly quieten down my G60 when on part throttle (anybody who has doen the boost return will know what I mean), I got a silencer kit consiting of a tubing to connect the the bottom of the TB, with the ISV and oil breather, on the end of which sat a large K&N filter. As I was in need of a few fittings to mount it all up (and I already have a ctach tank for the breather), I decided to put the K&N straight on the underside of the TB instead as it was a direct fit (the idea being to stop the air whistling out of the hole on part throttle, so cutting down on the noise a bit). It actually worked, and quietened things down a bit. Anybody know if attaching the K&N like this is a big no-no in any way, or will it be OK to leave it like that??
