  1. Just a word of caution for anyone using a toothed belt system on their G60 - if you haven't already got one, get a spare belt and leave it in the car. My belt failed on me last night (after only 6 months or so of use), on the South Circular at about 7PM. Not fun, and apologies to anyone (i.e. most of London) who I held up while I got the car off the road. Thankfully I had a spare in the car and the nice AA man was able to fit it for me. Has anyone else had problems with really short lifespans for these belts??
  2. Just fitted my SNS gear knob (after wrestling with my old Momo one to get it off). First impressions, seems to be about the same weight as the Momo gear knob, although a little smaller in size. Definately sits lower on the gear stick (about 1cm). Finish is very nice, although delicate (has already picked up a slight mark, thankfully not in an obvious place). Very, very snug fit on the gear stick shaft (had to file down the shaft slightly where the grub screws from the Momo had bitten in to it) so in the respect it is well centred on the stick unlike some after market ones. Now with picture of it in-situ.....
  3. I'd check the ISV as well as the fuel pumps. When mine started cutting out, it was actually one of the wires to the ISV which had come into contact with the head, and burnt through.
  4. Well, I've just gone ahead and ordered a SNS from dubcharged. Hopefully be a) heavier, and b) a bit less tatty than my current Momo one. Looking forward to seeing it, after having heard great things about them....
  5. When I needed to do mine I looked through a Maplin electronics catalogue and picked one with approximately the right dimensions which worked off 12V.
  6. Oooh, I was just about to part with the readies for a SNS one and I've seen the Reiger ones now..... The agony of choice. They both look really good.
  7. Congrats on the move Darren. Hope you get the phones sorted out. I'll be in touch regarding suspension and anti-roll bars for the G60 as I have a wad of cash with your name on it burning a hole in my wallet....
  8. Spare toothed belt Spare ECU and fuel pump relays Loads of fuses AA phone number Warning triangle (finally after owning the car for 2 years) Jump leads Water, litre of oil Tyre foot pump Mini torch (Tourag one charging in a Mk4 Golf cig lighter socket) Screwdrivers, socket set, etc Errr, that's about it I think....
  9. Ah ha, now that sounds like a simple solution to the problem, cheers Supercharged....
  10. I'm looking to get a new set of normal wheel bolts (as mine are a bit tatty) and locking bolts (as mine are a bit knackered) for my G60. Ideally I'd like to get black ones, but if not then definately not chrome ones. Any ideas as to the best place to get them from???
  11. Good to meet you madscientist, and thanks fo the drive in the VR6. Sorry _leon_, no pics, although I do back there every few months, so if I'm in Driffield next time I'll take the camera...

    Show Me Your Dials!

I'd be up for a set of mirrors dinkus....
  13. Good question BLACKG60, I'd have to check back on the receipt as to the part number and exact specification. Basically though I let Darren (g-man) do his thing, and recommend/fit a suitable oil cooler for me. It did make a big difference to running temperatures, especially on the motorway. Cost wise, check the g-werks website for their current prices (God that sounds like an advert).... Cheers kev, I'll check that out....
  14. I've got a Mocal fitted in front of the passenger wheel arch of my G60 where the original intercooler used to sit. Now this works great with the car in motion, however when the car gets stuck in tracffic the temperatures gradually rise (unsurprisingly). What I'm wondering is has anyone rigged up a second fan to cool their oil cooler, and if so any recommendations as to the best way to do it?? Don't really want to reolcate it to near the rad, as I already have a huuuge Golf G60 intercooler there.

    2 Tone The Interior?

I've got black leather and grey alcantara centre sections in my front seats, which I think look quite good - breaks up the completely monotone black.
  17. Probably around 9AM on saturday morning with the aim of beating the tourists. Always use the Howden exit from the M62 and go over to the coast that way.
  18. I'll be arriving saturday (early) and be there until tuesday night. You around at all over that time??
  19. Cheers TomB, unfortunately I go the M62 way towards Hull and then over from Howden. But I'll let you know if I'm going to be heading over to York at all. Jonathan
  20. I'm off to visit the folks at the weekend in Bridlington and was wondering if there is anybody on the forum in that part of the world??? Tried searching, just in case but found no-one
  21. Spent a (rather warm) day polishing my spare rocker cover. Just about ready to go on now, once I've Beglom Alu'd it once more.
  22. Nice to meet you today Sean, car looks sweet...

    Fuel smell

The time I was getting a fuel smell was down to the pipe going in to the top left of the fuel rail Mike. They tend to crack around the inside when old and you get fuel seeping through in small amounts, and vapourising when it hits hot metal. So you get a smell but no visible sign when the engine is hot.
  24. Thanks to Zarman at DDI for shipping me a pair of G60 sills
