I know this will get locked immediately.... perhaps not....
JMC replied to potatonet's topic in Engine Bay
As I say, just trying to figure it out. Unfortunately, I do not believe everything I see, especially at first glance. -

Surely the rate at which a gas burns is dependent on the nature of the gas, molecular mass, it's density, amount of oxygen etc, rather than a single catch all figure for all gases?? Doesn't 'charged' water just earth when it touches the block, or does it not need a battery either? Just intrigued that's all... -

Ah, it'll be a warp drive then. Not sure the spoiler extends enough for the nacelle to create the warp bubble to bend space around the car though. Excuse me - nerd??? No, PhD in plasma chemistry (well maybe slightly nerdy). Free access to liquid nitrogen and solid CO2 though. Ah, the joys of a university education. Merely trying to get to the bottom of what potatonet is attempting to do... -

Ah the revenge of cold (or should that be con) fusion  -

What's sub atomic gas?? I was under the impression that all gas was either atomic or molecular. The only gas I've come across which would be sub atomic would be completely ionised hydrogen in the form of a plasma, split down to H+ atoms and e-'s. This would not last long in a metal container without extreme magnetic fields to contain it (and in fact you'd only be able to have H+ or e- due to the opposite charges). -
There was an article in Japanese Performance magazine May 05 comparing a Pace intercooler and chargecooler on the same setup (200sx). The charge cooler brough the temperature down from 95C to just 4C above ambient, while the intercooler brought it down from 98C to 6C above ambient. Both pretty good. I suppose what you really need to ask is "is it worth it for the extra effort require to install it, and the need for radiator, pump, large amounts of water etc"??

Is this going to be in addtion to the electrolytic hydrogen cell or instead of it potatonet?? -
There's a bit of a story to that one Mike_g60. They are Boxster ones (as far as the person who sold me them told me), not the Boxster S ones I was expecting. As such they're made to take 24mm brake discs rather than the 28mm ones which would be ideal for the Cupra discs. This means of course that the Seat discs will not fit with the standard pads - not a happy bunny. AFAIK they are the standard Seat brembo carriers on there as well. Based on what I've learnt the ones to go for are the Boxster S ones, or I've been looking on-line and apparently the 996 ones are also a direct replacement (but in a different colour). Although not being a Porker expert don't quote me on that. G-man did a great job fitting them for me, so big thanks to Darren as always. Hope that helps....

Like these you mean.... :D :D JMCs G60

They were green on mine before I changed them to red with the DDI gauges...

I've got a red illuminated mirror switch available if you're interested, RADO.001. I've done all my switches now (with the help of Gradeafailure - cheers Dave) and bought this one as a spare to work on before I did mine.
-
Cheers Riley. It plugged into a metal plate about 2 inches by 1 inch - is the picture in the clicky of the back of the resistor pack?? I must admit I haven't taken off the plate to look behind it yet...

I'm in the process of removing all traces of a non-working air-con system from my G60 and putting it back to normal. Please can someone with a standard setup tell me if this is the normal connector which attaches to the blower motor. On mine this went into a plate connected to the top of the ventilation horn and then 2 wires came out from that to the blower, which all looks after market.
-
By all means do add it on to the KB article Supercharged, it'll be great if people want to go the extra mile like you and fit it the right way round. Glad to hear my notes were useful. Know what you mean about the sunroof motor - I was shocked when I took the trim down and found how little space there was under there. I decided to leave the bracket in on mine, which was one of the reasons I had to mount the light backwards.
-
Took every bit of interior trim off the drivers side to replace the door seal. Fun job. Also got my AFR working. Novel one this, I actually connected the wire to the correct pin on the sensor - the garage I took it to had decided it would be a much better signal by hooking it up to one of the heater wires instead
-
Good to see you've got yours in Supercharged and full credit for doing it the right way round :thumbleft: - looks like you've gone to a lot more effort to make it look factory than mine, but it was worth it. Good fit as well.
-
Cheers Woody - that's a job for a sunny day I think :)
-
I've got 2 replacement door seals, to replace my rather tatty ones. How much of a hassle is it to do this - it looks as though I'll have to remove all of the different trim panels (A and B pillar, and the bit along he bottom) to do this. :( Any advice would be fab folks :)

Ahhh, fitted a sh*t shield from a VR over my power steering belt and lower part of the toothed belt, the idea being to prolong the life of the toothed belt. Easy enough to fit if you have axle stands or a trolley jack, not quite so easy with the normal jack and a brick under the front wheels. Also the heavens opened, but heh, done now.
-
That is really, really cool....

Nice work with the heater panel Riley, it has turned out really, really well... Love the shift light idea as well.

I've recovered the whole of my centre console section in alcantara, including the hand brake surround (and now the gear stick surround). Recovering the handbrake surround holds it together nicely as well.
-
Glad someone else thought that - that was the first thing that crossed my mind...

As it says in the title really. I want to change a setting on my Clifford Concept 600 alarm which is a 'dealer setting'. My local dealer has taken the line - 'yes we can book you in but it will cost'. Anybody in the Heathrow area got Cliffnet and would be willing to let me use it for 10 minutes. Thanks, Jonathan

Probably quote another "C" back as well   Still it was worth a shot. Lovely piece of work though.
