  1. Thanks mate. Would've been up all night worrying about this thread otherwise!
  2. fla, Would silicone not do the same job? As long as you don't go all trigger happy while applying it, it'd be an invisible fix and should never let go. 8)
  3. Passed a white G reg on the Heinz factory road in Wigan, Sunday about 3:30. Both waved, and the driver was a ringer for Stevemac!!
  4. Yeah, similar thing happened to mine. The front stud holding the lever to the car had ripped right through its retaining piece of steel (must've had too much spinach that day) In your case though, it'll be pretty easy to knock the lever back straight once you get all the trim off.
  5. Not on Tuesday I'm afraid mate. Was sat in front of the telly all night with a few tinnies. Can I count that as a "nearly" spotted?
  6. I thought it just adjusted the overall hue of each pic to get the right shade it needs for the "Pixel" Henny.... Start clicking mate. :D
  7. Ah well. Another futile post in the "Spotted" section!
  8. Not Corrado exactly, but saw an orange Mk1 bombing down the M6 Southbound near Preston on Saturday afternoon. Possibly Riley in his?
  9. White valver at the Stag lights in Orrell, Wigan On Friday morning. L** WAG Exchanged "Ey-ups"
  10. Bit of both mate. Don't let it put you off though. :D
  11. Blue Flame are only a coupla hundred yards down the road from me. I've heard people saying they turn out good stuff, but had always discounted them as I thought they only did custom-made jobbies (i.e. mega bucks) Might give em a bell. (Not so sure about the Miltek now). :?
  12. I'm not buying one. He is. Christ, he was originally thinking of a Fiat Stilo :!:
  13. Going with a mate to some car dealership / supermarket place tonight as a second pair of eyes while he looks over god knows how many (Foci?) I've reccomended a 115 TDCi for his needs, but in the end I suppose it comes down to what they have in. Are there any specific things to watch out for on the focus? I know there's an issue with rust forming where the wing mirrors meet the body. Any other niggles? Are there obvious things to be aware of when looking at / listening to, TDCi lumps? Deisels baffle me! All suggestions much appreciated. Cheers.
  14. My gearchange went like a spoon in ready-brek just before the cable snapped. It broke at the point were it connects to the gear control arm in the engine bay, leaving me with the piece in the piccy no longer attached to the cable. Think it must've been the metal joint goint soft prior to the actual snap which made the change feel sloppy. Price? Dubsport charged me £130 (with a second hand cable.) Hope you sort it.
  15. Is that the sound of a 2 and a half year illusion shattering ?
  16. Louie Lungbubble is a character out of an old Ren & Stimpy episode. Bally had already taken my real nickname when I was signing up, so I just put something daft. Thinking of a change though, what'dya reckon of Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane... Catchy eh?
  17. Bc.... I'm with you on that one mate. I often find myself looking at my motor out of our works office window which offers the cars best viewing angle (low front offside aspect), and I think to myself how cool -yet-understated they look. I also sometimes remember how much faster my old (C reg- non 130) SRi Cav was compared to the 'Rado, and I must admit to sometimes missing the sense of dental filling removal when the right foot is planted. Ah, but don't worry though, cos I'm constantly re-assuring myself that I'll get a G60 or Vr when I'm flush, and that makes my rose tinted Vauxhall delireum fade right away) Should I expect PM off Dr Matt?
  18. Would you not get the "about to burst into flames" smell though, if the rears were grabbing with enough force to affect the arse end when cornering?
  19. Same thing's happeneing to me mate. Most probable culprit is the rear bushes on their way out, but another forum member had his changed, and it never stopped. Stevemac then suggested it could also be worn top mounts which make it go all arse-happy. Hope someone finally nails the cause of this one down. I could do with knowing where best to spend my $$ :?
  20. Cheers lads. My missus got a phone photo of the other car's damage. Poxy 3" dint with no paint broken on the rear quarter. Any (very rough) ideas on price for getting such a thing popped out if it comes to it? Ta.
  21. Ok chaps, could do with a quick bit of advice here if poss. The missus has just had a prang in some multi storey car park. Apparently she and this other woman were simultaniously reversing out of opposite parking spaces..... you can probably fill in the gaps yourself! From what I gather over the phone, neither of them saw the other until it was too late, so I told her to suggest the old "Knock for knock" scenario. Just wondering if this would be what the insurance people normally go for in such situations, or do they try to acertain fault? Cheers.
  22. It was that very episode which started my love affair with the things. Remember Tiff hanging out the window spouting stuff like "Get yours now, and wrap it up in cotton wool" Anyone still got it on tape ?
  23. [Please insert the gag of your choice referencing big bores, or bolt on extension pipes here]
  24. It's sometimes not as easy as you'd think to tell the difference between stainless and M/S Fla. Rule of thumb is that M/S will attract a magnet and S/S won't, but there are exceptions. We use two grades of S/S in work: 304 (good stuff - non magnetic) and 430 (shoite stuff - magnetic) They're both stainless, but the crap stuff *will* eventually rust if in wet conditions. Bottom line is mate, if its non magnetic, it's defo S/S. If it is magnetic it's either coated M/S or low quality S/S. Nick a magnet off your fridge and have a bash!
