.........at the mo mr chrisvr6nos is putting back together his vr after finally resolving a "misfire" after probably 2-3,000 miles driving with a misfire - basically running on 5 cylinders - to Liverpool, Manchester, around the north east and still pulling 140 when need be, all avenues were exhausted and the head had to come off for further investigation. In the interim, leads had been replaced, rotor arms etc... all the usual suspects, until head removal was the final option...... removing the inlet manifold gave an indication of the true problem. things did not bode well ..... oh dear!!!!!! what would be found inside.......??????? although a problem was expected, this was quite shocking and I laughed my chebs off at the site once the head was lifted!!!!!!! 1,000s of miles driven with a vr engine in this state!!!!!! and it gets worse!!!!!!!!! the piston wasn't too healthy either..... a true testament to the strength of a vr.........

H8RRA replied to JIMMI's topic in Members Gallery
hey jimmi - lost your number - can you pm me as i'll have to get up some time -
afraid i can only agree with what others have said re: the price. long time since vr's have gone for that money and with that mileage i'd be very surprised if you even came close.
-
.....can't imagine understeer ever being any fun... surely you mean oversteer????
-
personally i'd never even considera 4 potter unless just fo a daytoday hack and even then only a 16v for reliabilty - never been interested in a g. 8)

one garage is advising the best repair and the other a suitable repair. you can't expect the first garage to do more than a suitable repair unless you want to get into the realms of blackmailing him and reporting the dodgy MOT unless he replaces the full sill

i get a dpk - ribbed on both sides - and i've only shredded one to date supplied to a few members to date and as far as i'm aware, they have performed well for everyone. i can get them and post them to your door for £20

-
bugger - shows how long since i played with the corrado
-
tried differenet controllers but still my spoiler won't go up automatically. goes up manually and dwon automatically as i slow down but doesn't go up automatically - most annoying any suggestions or anyone had similar problems?
-
....did you see the words on the door when it was in the pits gettin repaired!!!///  one side had "PENIS" and the other "ARSE" "childish, i know.... :?
-
...in that case, yip your right. A quote would have clarified things-i just get a bit pished when helpful comments are criticised. I'm calm now. ;-)

are you referring to what I said? FFS, i'll not bother trying to give information if thats the reaction you get. You'll always pay VAT as I said in my reply so you're wrong about the VAT as you've already found out - import duty is down to what the goods are declared as and 2.5% is correct for mechanical parts if you use the correct import code. As for shipping - its a long way, you know and surely you asked before you bought them? The cheap way to get stuff is by land (sea) as opposed to air but obviously you wait a long time. Not all couriers charge either, Parcelforce is obviously a rip-off merchant. If you want to quantify what something from the States is going to cost, you can get the courier charges in advance and it s pretty dumb not to - after that add 3% duty and then 17.5% VAT - its not hard and I'm not wrong but I'll keep it to myself next time, eh? :?
-
stuff from schimmel comes in on a 2.5% duty and then theres just vat which you would pay anyway. I gave Bill the code when he sent me over the first schimmel manifold. he's used this code for all products sent since then, so I've saved the likes of wires absolute fortunes !!! ;-)
-
bought them very recently but expect a shock - about £30+ each I'm sure i paid more than £70and I get about 20% discount.
-
.....unless you have a long stroke crank :-) I've also possibly got a 2.9 block suitable for rebore open to offers
