...the prices at the moment are terrible and i don't suppose will get any better. got a moonlight vr with receipts for an engine build 30-40 k ago but can't imagine getting £1500 for it as it needs tidying. For those that have broken VR's, what do you think can be realised breaking a vr with all parts available in good nick apart from stone chips? Doesn't feel right breaking it but what do you do? If I can sell the engine, box, electrics etc as a conversion, job lot, I would hope to get a decent price? Any comments to help me decide?

i've had issues before and if paid by paypal, they have adjudicated the case and refunded my paypal account - i'm sure you've got recourse if they were sold as 100%

finally putting the corrado on the road - just drove it round the block and the windows both powered down without me touching them and won't go back up????? I would presume theres a dodgy earth on the window circuit but don't know where to start looking. any idea's - common fixes - suggestions here to start?????

...as long as its not nuget yellow again ;)

replace the radiator sensor - had this 3 times and each time, that was the problem - Eurocarparts sensors are half the price of VW and are fine alternatively, raid the scrappie as all vw sensors are one of 2 types - i collected 5 sensors from polo's and they've all worked fine in the rado :)

BONNET LIFTER FOR A 93 FACE LIFT CORRADO

just file or grind out the socket bit by bit. fit the strut to the bottom connection and lift it as high as it can go. if it doesn't reach the ball socket on the bonnet, you'll have to take out some more. its not difficult just these details are not in the guide and if you ploughed into it, you'd potentially not get a fixing in the bonnet or wonder why you couldn't fit the strut when you'd got a fixing...... just get stuck in :) -
double sided 1710's don't exist - theres only 1383's which suit the vortecs nicely and then 2000+ which are far too big - tried 5-9 rib as well single sided belts are available?????

BONNET LIFTER FOR A 93 FACE LIFT CORRADO

i fitted those onto nosky's, subsequently chillys vr got to be very careful where you drill the mount point on the bonnet as theres only a very small section of double skin into which you can tap. get it wrong and you won't get a fixing. once the fixings are in place, the strut is a ball socket fit with a split pin retainer. the ball socket that fits onto the ball mounted onto the wing won't fit unless you modify it. Basically, you can't get sufficient angle on the strut and have to enlarge the socket hole on the strut ball socket. again, don't take off too much or it'll pop out. overall, takes a bit of working out so don't fly into it and pay particular attention to the 2 things mentioned above. ;-) -
i've been supplying belts for vortechs and should be able to get you a price on these no probs - give me a couple of hours Paul -

like this? -
mines gone as well - can't see any reason why you would have adverse effects - its only a scabby bit of metal held with a couple of weedy bolts... ...chop the burger off and get a lighter, more fuel-efficient car ;)

now sorted ...ish - still hanging out but looking nice. -
jimmi - i use various machine shops locally and i'd be surprised if we couldn't get the electric rack sorted. if i call in or when you come over, i'll look at the rack and could take it to a couple of places to see what would be chargged to mod it.
-
i know you'll be making an informed decision on this jimmi but i would add my weight those who think it'll be a nightmare when i was looking for a polo for the missus - small car, light 1.1 litre engine on 155's - i drove poverty spec 1.1's with no power steering and found them horrible. i know we all survived for years before it came along but its a big shock even going back to driving a small, light car on skinny tyres without PS now...
