If a mk4 tdi has the d and i in red, what bhp is it????
TomB replied to biggerbigben's topic in General Car Chat
Go for it, a modern diesel engine in a Corrado would work very well (JurgenTDI anyone?). That and I'll buy it from you if you ever decide to sell it :-) -
White early spec G60 crossing Ouse Bridge this morning in York about 8am. J***JFW, looked completely standard apart from the ride height. Slightly worrying that I recognised the engine note before seeing you though :-)

Try here my good man.Good luck, Tom

crash, bang, wallop....S3 in for repairs!!
TomB replied to jedi-knight83's topic in General Car Chat
Ouch. Those pics made me wince. Still, it could have been a lot worse, you're all right, and the car's being fixed. Shame about the Astra though :-) -
Good luck Jim, hope it's something simple... I konw exactly what you mean about stuff just going wrong. I went to pick mine up tonight after it's been in for a full head replacement/rebuild (ouch), and after chatting with the mechanics for half an hour, I went to drive off, but the headlights weren't working, so I went to pop the bonnet...and the bonnet release snapped. Back in the garage now... :-)

Nice one man, thanks for all your hard work on this. I'm looking forward to getting mine, and I'll let you know as soon as it arrives. Cheers, Tom -
Yup, definately a warning, I had exactly the same thing a while back in my Passat, I was travelling from Oxford to York (2.5 hours *ahem*) and had just joined the A1/M1 link bit south of the A64 turn-off when an unmarked people carrier with lights in the grille came up very quickly behind me, inched past giving me evil looks and then sped off... Now I only use a pace car :-)
-
Hadn't heard of it myself, but I did a quick search on Google, and seems to be mentioned a lot in car fora (MG, RX8, Audi A/S3). Sorry, probably not much help.
-
Unlucky man, I really hope you get it sorted with no troubles & glad to hear you're ok apart from the neck. As a friend of mine recently said, "It could be worse, some dumb bar-steward could have rolled it down a hill" :-) Cheers, Tom

FaTT mk1, sorry to switch topic, but are/were you the owner of that awesome sleeper Passat? What happened to it? Damn it looked nice.
-
Apparently flat engines are more reliable in terms of little niggles...but when they go wrong they do so in a big way.
-
carpoid, I've pointed LOOT in the direction of that thread...

Nice one. I for one am going to avoid doing business with Highway again, and I'd urge others to do the same. *wanders off muttering darkly about revenge* :-)
-
gradeAfailure, cheers for that. I might go searching out some of their music. On an unrelated note, Carter USM...marvellous.

Have a sniff round on http://www.porka.net and see if you can find any accident reports...

Nightwish! Just for that 'Finnish goth metal backed by a full orchestra, and led by a trained classical singer' sound. Only works when driving at night, but it is epic, and makes you feel like you have the lead role in a film. Propellerheads is another favourite for driving though... :-)
-
Could someone post a picture of where it is & what it looks like (the under-bonnet one that stops radio interference). You gents may have just solved a problem that's been driving me nuts! Cheers, Tom

Welcome to the forum man.

January and November are also in the CCC Calender.

Sounds like an after market system based on my (albeit limited) experience. Who's it manufactured by though?
-
Well, the phrase is 'Why spoil a ship for a ha'peth of tar' is it not. As it's all going on the card... :-)
-
Please excuse the lack on knowlege on my part, but I'd be grateful if someone could help out. I'm hunting for parts, and the garage said that one of the hydraulic lifters on the cylinder head was smashed but the other 15 were intact. Is that part no. 14535 from GSF? Stevemac I guess this is one for you :) Cheers, Tom
-
Well thanks to H100VW, I now have a new head, G60Dub, the porting's out, but will polishing add anything? If so, how easy is it to do yourself? What sort of things would I need? Cheers, Tom
-
More praise for Gavin (H100VW), but this time for the cylinder head rather than one of his excellent looms :-) . Thanks once again, much appreciated. Cheers, Tom
