L***FTA in silver (a valver I think) spotted driving up Holgate Road in York about 2 o'clock this afternoon. Anyone?
-
Usually the colour, followed by a suitably alliterative name :-)
-
Very cool. I'm hoping to go to some events later this year...

1 spotted by remote from a mate who lives in Edinburgh, K***GSC a blue valver. He also mentioned a tidy M or N reg in Dragon Green that he saw, but I've lost the details he sent me.

My sympathies man, chin up. Tom

Yup, mine arrived yesterday as well, and I'm well chuffed (wearing it now). The design looks awsome, nice one Josh! Cheers, Tom -
Cool, thanks for setting my mind at rest. Still, it did 400 odd miles this weekend, so it's going to be added to the list of 'when I've paid for the engine re-build' jobs :-)

You should try getting replacements! No wonder my dad hordes spares obsessively...
-
Good luck with the new Golf..you'll be back :-)

HELP - Number plates nicked and alarm had been triggered!!!!

B**tards! Removable steering wheel isn't a bad idea, although any visual deterrant will help. I still leave my Stoplok (sp?) on even though the car's alarmed just to deter the casual thief. Here's hoping they won't be back (or if they are, you're waiting for them...) Tom -
Chap in a Dark Green VR6 (?) in Bedford on Satuday as I was queuing up to go to the tip. I waved and you nodded back. Anyone?

Just thought I'd show you the two very different automobiles that I was driving today.... One is old, squeaks and rattles, and things are constantly going wrong with it...and the other is a 1925 'chummy' Austin 7 :). 3 forward gears, no syncromesh, cable brakes and a fuel sysyem that operates by gravity... Cheers, Tom
-
I'd get it checked over or rolling roaded first, as getting floored by a Pug 1.6 3 up shouldn't happen! (Nippy as they are). If all turned out to be well... what he said ^ Cheers, Tom

I think my valver's getting ideas as it's developed a whining from about 2.5K rpm upward and I'm sure there wasn't a charger under the bonnet last time I looked :) I'm thinking it might be the new belts bedding in from it's recent re-build, but if someone could set my mind at rest I'd be grateful... If the stereo's on, the whining comes through the speakers as well as from under the bonnet if that's any help. Cheers, Tom

If you need replacement parts, then check out http://www.clubgti.com as well, as anyone breaking a Mk2 Gti should be able to help you out with bits (where I got my camshaft from). Failing that, 'new' engines do come up periodically on eBay, I was looking at one recently when my engine went pop, 95K miles for about £200 delivered. Good luck with getting everything sorted, Tom

As far as the engine goes, I've heard that the Haynes manual for the mk 2 Golf Gti covers all you need to know about the KR engine. Good luck! Tom

I was driving back from a mates through town last night, and there were lots of people about. I stopped at some lights outside a club, and there were people drunkenly crossing the road including one blonde girl who was standing in the middle of the street having a conversation with someone on the pavement. She turned round and saw me, and a look of astonishment came over her face, she pointed and in an awestruck voice, said "Corrado." Made me smile :-)

Sent mine, although perhaps it would have been better to nominate it in the '10 Greatest Flops' section a few weeks ago :D

I don't mind waiting man, as the price was very good indeed. It'll be a nice suprise when it arrives :-) -
Nice one, let me know if the body shop's any good, as there's a few patches on mine that need attention :-) Cheers, Tom

Welcome to the forum, if you're every headed York way and fancy meeting up for a cuppa drop me a line. Cheers, Tom

Well, I saw 3 this weekend, but due to the hammering my brain took at a stag do, I can only remember the details of 2 of them. One I passed somewhere in the middle of Nottingham on Saturday afternoon, about 1:30-2pm on my way back from paintball. A very shiney and tidy looking 'rado and I exchanged waves with the driver. The second was on the A614 heading north from Nottingham a dark coloured C (black) passed me coming the other way. I waved but I don't think the driver saw me. Cheers, Tom

2K sounds reasonalbe given the price of valvers at the moment... Although, if you can get a decent one for slightly less, then you'll have a good emergency fund for whatever goes wrong first :-) Check out the for sale section on here, as they'll be of a higher quality than what you'll generally find in autotrader or anywhere else. Oh yeah, welcome to the forum and good luck with your hunt! Cheers, Tom

Owen, the valvers aren't as slow as they're made out to be, and they're basically more reliable that the G60 and the VR6 (says the man who's just replaced his cyl head :-) ). Once you stir them to life above 4K they shift, and the handling is superb. With regard to tuning, on a 1.8 valver, I'm running 2 exhaust cams and a ss exhaust, and that gives 150bhp at the fly. If you were to port, polish etc then you can get more (but not much). Maintainence can be pricey where body panels are concerned, but mechanically as has been mentioned, you can get most bits from MK2 Gtis. Good luck, Tom

Tornado Red (I think) 'rado going the opposite way through the centre of York today, excchanged waves. I was stuck behind some fat Lexus 4x4 thing so only saw you at the last minute. Bit of a shock though, like looking in a mirror! :-)
